Cobb Point Bar Light

Cobb Island is a small island located at the confluence of the Potomac and Wicomico rivers in southern Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is located approximately 45 miles (72 km) south of Washington, and is considered to be within the Washington, D.C. MSA. Cobb Island is separated from the mainland by Neale Sound and connected to it by a 0.11-mile-long (180 m) fixed bridge carrying Maryland Route 254. Cobb Island is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP). As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 1,166. The community has a small post office, a volunteer fire department and rescue squad, a Baptist church, a large community green space (Fisherman's Field) and a small playground for children. Commercially, there are two seafood restaurants with marinas, a marina with a pizzeria restaurant chain, a small bar and grill, a seasonal coffee shop, art gallery and bakery, and a small market.

The Wicomico River is a 13.0-mile-long (20.9 km) tributary of the lower tidal portion of the Potomac River located in the U.S. state of Maryland south of Washington, DC. The river empties into the Potomac at Cobb Island and St. Margaret's Island. Its watershed area (excluding water) is 77 square miles (200 km2), with 2% impervious surface in 1994 in Charles, St. Mary's, and southern Prince George's counties. The lower section of the river forms part of the boundary between Charles and St. Mary's counties. The Wicomico River was designated a Scenic River under the Maryland Scenic River Act in 1968. Ocean Hall is a historic house located in Bushwood, St. Mary's County, Maryland, U.S. The house is believed to have been built in 1703. Successive alterations were made to the initial structure in the early 18th, late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the exterior porches were added. Of the original house only the Flemish bond brick exterior walls remain. It is believed that when the interior was rebuilt (or extensively altered) about 1725, the floor plan configuration was a hall and parlor, a two-room plan typical of this region throughout the early 18th centuries. Decorative details include paneling, molded chair-rails, and a Federal mantel. Ocean Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Coltons Point is an unincorporated community in what is popularly called the "Seventh District" of St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States. A small historical museum and a lighthouse are located there. Seasonal boat service carry visitors the short distance to the shrinking, uninhabited St. Clement's Island, where in 1634 the first European settlers arriving in Maryland landed and celebrated the first Catholic Mass in English-speaking North America. Abell is an unincorporated community in what is familiarly called the "Seventh District" of St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States. Abell was a brewing ground for many fisherman and farmers in the late 19th century until approximately the late 1950s. Abell was known for its many major ports, and for its deep water access which made it easy for large steamboats to maneuver. Many of the ports have been demolished due to storms and hurricanes. Today, some local fisherman still reside in the same area where they were raised. Abell is also known for its century-old homes and views of the St. Clements Bay.

St. Clement's Island State Park is a Maryland state park on St. Clement's Island, an uninhabited Potomac River island lying one-half mile southeast of Colton's Point, St. Mary's County, Maryland. The park features a 40-foot stone cross dedicated to the beginnings of freedom of religion in the United States as well as a reconstruction of the historic Blakistone Island Light. It is the central feature of the St. Clement's Island Historic District that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Blackistone Island Light was a lighthouse located on what is now St. Clement's Island on the Potomac River in Maryland. It is best known as the target of a Confederate raid in the Civil War. Completed in 1851, the structure was destroyed by fire in 1956 and its shell was razed; a replica was completed in 2008. The lighthouse replica can be visited on weekends from June through October. After driving to the St. Clement's Island Museum, one may take a water taxi on weekends and walk the grounds. A 50-foot (15 m) cross is also on the island. The lighthouse is open on Saturdays and the first Sunday of every month from June through October.
