SS Keewatin is a passenger liner which once traveled between Port Arthur/Fort William (now Thunder Bay) on Lake Superior and Port McNicoll on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron) in Ontario, Canada. She carried passengers between these ports for the Canadian Pacific Railway's Great Lakes steamship service. Keewatin also carried packaged freight goods for the railway at these ports.Keewatin is the largest of the remaining Edwardian era passenger steamers remaining in the world, along with Nomadic, and the lake steamer TSS Earnslaw (1913), currently still operational in New Zealand.

Port McNicoll is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is located in the Simcoe County township of Tay.

The Shrine of the Canadian Martyrs (French: Sanctuaire des martyrs canadiens), commonly known as the Martyrs' Shrine, is a Roman Catholic church in Midland, Ontario, Canada, which is consecrated to the memory of the Canadian Martyrs, six Jesuit Martyrs and two lay persons from the mission of Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. It is one of nine national shrines in Canada, including, among others, Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.

Sainte-Marie among the Hurons (French: Sainte-Marie-au-pays-des-Hurons) was a French Jesuit settlement in Huronia or Wendake, the land of the Wendat, near modern Midland, Ontario, from 1639 to 1649. It was the first European settlement in what is now the province of Ontario. Eight missionaries from Sainte-Marie were martyred, and were canonized by the Catholic Church in 1930. Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1920. A reconstruction of the mission now operates as a living museum. A nearby historic site, Carhagouha, marks the spot where an earlier Récollet missionary to Wendake, Father Joseph Le Caron, presided in 1615 over the first Catholic mass conducted in present-day Ontario. Another related site of historical interest is Saint-Louis Mission National Historic Site, located in present-day Victoria Harbour, Ontario. It was at Saint-Louis that Jesuit missionaries Jean de Brébeuf and Gabriel Lalement were captured when the Wendat village was attacked by the Iroquois on March 16, 1649.

The Wye Marsh is a wetland area on the south shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. The Wye Marsh National Wildlife Area was established on the location in 1978. It is designated a Provincially Significant Wetland by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

SS Midland City was originally a Canadian side-wheel steamboat that provided passenger and cargo transportation on the Great Lakes from 1871 until 1955. Originally named Maud, then America, she underwent several extensive refits over her 84-year service, and saw several owners. The ship was intentionally run aground and burnt to the waterline in 1955 near the mouth of the Wye River in Midland Bay. The wreck is intact and visible above the water to this day, where it acts as a breakwater for the Wye Heritage Marina and local attraction.

St. Theresa's High School is a high school in Midland, Ontario, Canada administered by the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. The school serves students from Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay Township, Tiny Township and a portion of Springwater Township (Elmvale). The current enrollment is 700 students from grade 9–12. The current administration consists of principal George Luck, vice principals Megan Clark and Karen McNamara.

Quarry Island is a 200-acre (81-hectare) island located in Southeastern Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. The island name is derived from its mining history. Stone from the island was used for the bridge piers on the Canadian Pacific Railway and other projects. The Island is located near Midland, Ontario and Penetanguishene. To the west is Vennings Bay and Maceys Bay. There are also several other islands to the north, Beausoleil Island, Picnic Island, Brandys Island, and Roberts Island. Georgian Bay Islands National Park is also located to the northwest.The northern shore is scattered with small rocky outcrops and select areas of marsh. The west and south shore features several cottages with a mixture of sand and rock beaches. The island is largely covered in temperate forest, with a utility trail looping around the interior.

The Huronia Museum is located in Midland, Ontario, Canada. The museum consists of the museum building (housing collections and art gallery) and the Huron/Ouendat (Wendat) village (palisade and longhouse). The museum is open year-round and has nearly one million objects and receives some 20,000 visitors each year. The collections include artifacts pertaining to native history and maritime history. The museum provides educational programmes for schools and adults.

The Midland Cultural Centre is a public multi-use complex located in Midland, Ontario, Canada. The 2787 m2 (30 000 sq ft) building is home to three main groups: Quest Art School and Gallery, the Huronia Players theatre company, and Rotary Hall, a community event space.The Midland Cultural Centre was designed by Howard Rideout of Howard Rideout Architect (HRA), in collaboration with IHD Design Build. The project’s client and benefactor, local philanthropist Reinhart Weber, was also involved in the design, ensuring that his plan to create an arts Centre in the heart of downtown Midland would come to fruition. Reinhart Weber donated the funds needed for the $7.5 million project.

Midland is a town located on Georgian Bay in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Huronia/Wendat region of Central Ontario. Located at the southern end of Georgian Bay's 30,000 Islands, Midland is the economic centre of the region, with a 125-bed hospital and a local airport (Midland/Huronia Airport). It is the main town of the southern Georgian Bay area. In the summer months, the area's population grows to over 100,000 with seasonal visitors to more than 8,000 cottages, resort hotels, provincial and national parks in the surrounding municipalities of Penetanguishene, Tiny, Tay, and Beausoleil First Nation.

Georgian Bay District SS ("GBDSS") is a Public high school in Midland, Simcoe County, in Central Ontario, Canada. Students attend from Midland/Penetanguishene and surrounding areas including Hillsdale, Port McNicoll, Waubaushene, Victoria Harbour, Honey Harbour, Wyevale and Christian Island. The principal is Hailey McLean. GBDSS offers open, applied and academic courses in Grade 9 through 12, a Life Skills program and two off-site Alternative Learning Programs, one with a focus on Native culture. GBDSS offers e-learning courses in addition to regular classes. All school programs focused on academics, co-curricular, and community involvement.In 2014, an announcement was made that Midland SS and Penetanguishene SS would amalgamate, due to the declining enrollment of both schools. PSS closed at the end of the 2015–16 school year, with its 350 students joining the 500 students at the existing MSS building, which could accommodate up to 1,400 students, while construction of the new school took place. Construction began in the spring of 2016, and was expected to open in September 2018; however, in July of that year it was announced that it would not be ready. A new completion date was not provided. The new building opened for students on February 4, 2019.Students at the school are involved in Student Council initiatives; international student exchanges; co-curricular programs associated with music, art, and drama; a variety of special interest clubs; and athletics. GBDSS is located in area "A" of the school board, the superintendent is Susan Sidlofsky.
