Kalenderhane Mosque

Vezneciler is a station on the M2 line of the Istanbul Metro. The station is located under Şehzadebaşı Street and 16 Mart Şehitleri Street in the historical Fatih district of Istanbul. Opened on 16 March 2014, Vezneciler is the most recently opened station on the M2 line. At 30m below ground level, it is the deepest station of the Istanbul Metro. During the inauguration the station was dedicated to Ottoman police officers who were killed during a conflict with British forces during the Occupation of Constantinople in 1920. Istanbul University's main campus, Beyazıt Square and the Şehzade Mosque are a few landmarks in the vicinity of the station. On 7 June 2016, a bomb reportedly targeting a police bus struck around this station.

Vezneciler Hamamı is a historic hamam (bathhouse) located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the historic area of Istanbul. The hamam was built by Sultan Bayezid II in either 1481. It is located slightly north of the larger Bayezid II Hamam. The bath was unique for being constructed on the second floor rather than the ground floor, and the bath's waters were thought to be a curative for jaundice. Ottoman writer Evliya Celebi (1611–1682) noted that the bath had two entrances for men and women, although this feature cannot be seen today. The bath was renovated in 1950 and is still in use today. It remains a mixed gender hamam, open to both men and women.

Balaban Aga Mosque (full name in Turkish: Balaban Ağa Mescidi, where mescit is the Turkish word for a small mosque) was a mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, converted from a former Byzantine building. Its usage during the Byzantine era is unclear. The small edifice - pulled down in 1930 to open a new road - was a minor example of architecture of the Byzantine early period in Constantinople.

The Beyazıt massacre (Turkish: Beyazıt katliamı) or 16 March massacre (Turkish: 16 Mart katliamı) of 16 March 1978 was the massacre of students at Istanbul University, in which 7 died and 41 were injured. The university was attacked with a bomb and gunfire. The head of the Istanbul branch of the Grey Wolves, Orhan Çakıroğlu, was sentenced to 11 years in 1980; he was released on appeal in 1982. After the 30-year statute of limitations expired the mother of one of the shooters admitted his involvement, and said he had received orders from a police officer. A witness said the police did not pursue the attackers at the scene.

The Şehzade Mosque (Turkish: Şehzade Camii, from the original Persian شاهزاده Šāhzādeh, meaning "prince") is a 16th-century Ottoman imperial mosque located in the district of Fatih, on the third hill of Istanbul, Turkey. It was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent as a memorial to his son Şehzade Mehmed who died in 1543. It is sometimes referred to as the "Prince's Mosque" in English. In a June 2016 attack, the windows of the mosque were shattered.

Vefa is a quarter in Istanbul, Turkey. It is part of the district of Fatih and managed as borough of Mollahüsrev, inside the walled city. It belonged to the district of Eminönü between 1928 and 2008. It lies roughly northwest of the eastern section of the Aqueduct of Valens, and is rich of monuments, both Byzantine, like the mosques of Kalenderhane and Vefa Kilise, and Ottoman, like the Süleymaniye Mosque. It is a picturesque quarter, home of the Vefa S.K., one of the historic soccer clubs of Istanbul, and of the oldest Boza shop of the city still active.

Church-Mosque of Vefa (Turkish: Vefa Kilise Camii, meaning "the church mosque of Vefa", to distinguish it from the other kilise camiler of Istanbul: also known as Molla Gürani Camii after the name of his founder) is a former Eastern Orthodox church converted into a mosque by the Ottomans in Istanbul. The church was possibly dedicated to Hagios Theodoros (St. Theodore, in Greek: Ἄγιος Θεοδόρος ἑν τὰ Καρβουνάρια), but this dedication is far from certain. The complex represents one of the most important examples of Comnenian and Palaiologan architecture of Constantinople.

Istanbul Zoology Museum, more precisely Zoology Museum of Istanbul University (Turkish: İstanbul Üniversitesi Zooloji Müzesi) is a natural history museum, located in Istanbul University's Vezneciler Campus at Fatih, Istanbul featuring animal collections. It was founded in 1933 and rearranged in 1989. The museum is owned and maintained by the Department of Biology at Faculty of Science.

The Bayezid II Hamam (Turkish: Beyazıt Hamamı) is a historic bathhouse (hamam) in Istanbul, Turkey. It is one of the largest hamams in the city. It was historically part of the külliye (religious and charitable complex) of the Bayezid II Mosque located nearby.: 130  The hamam is located on Divanyolu Street, a short distance west of the mosque.

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Building of Istanbul University is one of the larger faculty buildings of the university. It is situated in the Laleli neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey. The building was constructed between 1942 and 1944. The architects were Sedat Hakkı Eldem (1908-1988) and Emin Halid Onat (1908-1961). The German architect Paul Bonatz (1877-1956) also acted as an adviser during his brief stay in Turkey. It is an example of the second national era in Turkish architecture which can be described as neoclassical. Stone pitching faces, arcades, and colonnades are apparent.

Istanbul University (Turkish: İstanbul Üniversitesi) is a prominent public research university located in Istanbul, Turkey. Founded by Mehmed II on May 30, 1453, a day after the conquest of Constantinople by the Turks, it was re-established in 1846 as the first Ottoman higher education institution based on European traditions. The successor institution, which has been operating under its current name since 1933, is the first university in modern Turkey. Some pre-1930 western sources refer to it as the University of Constantinople, after the previous name of the city, while one in French referred to it as the Université de Stamboul ("Stamboul" the name for the historic inner city).At present, there are 69,411 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students studying in 33 academic units, including faculties, institutes, colleges, and vocational schools at 10 campuses. In 2020, the university's AACSB accredited Business School was ranked 3rd in the Middle East and 2nd in Turkey, according to Eduniversal. The Faculty of Transport and Logistics is accredited by the International Road and Transport Union.
