Galaxy Orbiter is a steel spinning roller coaster at Galaxyland amusement park in West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was built by German manufacturer, Gerstlauer and is the first roller coaster of its type in Canada. The ride officially opened on July 17, 2007.

Galaxyland, previously known as Fantasyland, is an indoor amusement park. Located in the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the second largest mall in North America, it is home to the world's tallest (14 stories) and longest indoor roller coaster, the Mindbender. It is also home to the Space Shot, the world's tallest indoor tower ride at the time of opening, at 36.5 metres (120 ft). The record was broken by Nickelodeon Skyline Scream at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey in 2019.

The ride officially opened to the public on December 20, 1985 at a cost of $6 million. At 44.2 m (145 ft) in height, it is the tallest indoor roller coaster in the world as of 2020.

West Edmonton Mall (WEM) is a shopping mall located in Edmonton, Alberta, that is owned, managed, and operated by Triple Five Group. It is the second most visited mall in Canada, after the Toronto Eaton Centre in Toronto, followed by Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, and the 23rd largest in the world (along with The Dubai Mall) by gross leasable area. It is currently the 2nd largest shopping mall, by square footage, in North America behind the Mall of America. Mall of America encompasses 5.6 million square feet and West Edmonton Mall encompasses 5.3 million square feet. By store count, West Edmonton Mall is the highest in the Western Hemisphere as it currently counts over 800 occupants, in comparison to Mall of America's 520 occupants. The mall was founded by the Ghermezian brothers, who emigrated from Iran in 1959. The mall's major anchor stores are Hudson's Bay, London Drugs, Marshalls, Simons, The Brick, and Winners/HomeSense. West Edmonton Mall covers a gross area of about 490,000 m2 (5,300,000 sq ft). It holds over 800 stores and services including nine attractions, two hotels and over 100 dining venues in the complex, and parking for more than 20,000 vehicles. More than 24,000 people are employed at the property. The mall receives about 32 million visitors per year; it attracts between 90,000 and 200,000 shoppers daily, depending on the day and season. The mall is referred to as “West Edmonton Mall” and not “the West Edmonton Mall”. Other local references are “West Ed” or “the Mall”.

World Waterpark is a water park located within the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Opened to the public in 1986, it is the second largest indoor water park in North America, after American Dream's DreamWorks Water Park which opened on October 1, 2020. It has a maximum capacity of 5,000 guests, an average air temperature of 31 °C (88 °F) and contains the world's largest indoor wave pool with a capacity of 12.5 million litres.The highest slides in the park are Twister, Sky Screamer and Cyclone, which are all 25.3 m (83 ft) high. In 2020, World Waterpark temporarily closed for the first time due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Canada. While some parts did temporarily close, the whole park didn't close down until mid March 2020.

Yellowhead Tribal College is an educational institution located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada which is run by four member nations of Treaty 6 with the four members being Alexander First Nation, O'Chiese First Nation, Sunchild First Nation and Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation. Yellowhead Tribal College is an inclusive and open learning institution that welcomes all adult learners.

The Misericordia Community Hospital is an acute care hospital located in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Misericordia is home to the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM), a facility for reconstruction of the face, head and neck.The original Misericordia Hospital was established in 1900 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Misericorde, a religious congregation dedicated to nursing the poor and unwed mothers. The Sisters of Misericorde operated the hospital until the 1970s. The hospital is now part of Covenant Health, a Catholic health care provider operating 18 facilities across Alberta, in cooperation with Alberta Health Services.

St. Francis Xavier High School is a high school in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is operated by Edmonton Catholic Schools System. The school started in 1955, with the purpose built school (since expanded) opened in 1958. Originally part of the Town of Jasper Place school system, St. Francis Xavier transferred to the Edmonton system when Jasper Place amalgamated with Edmonton in 1964.

Jasper Place High School is located in west end Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and is part of the Edmonton Public School System. It opened in 1961, originally part of the Town of Jasper Place school system, becoming a part of the Edmonton system when Jasper Place amalgamated with Edmonton in 1964. In 2005, Maclean's Magazine chose Jasper Place High School as the top overall high school in all of Canada. In 2008, adding the methods used by the E.I.U's quality of life model, Jasper Place Ranked 1st in Canada, and 2nd in North America. In 2014, Strathcona High School was named 2nd best in Canada, but scored the same as Jasper Place, leading into a tie. However, on an international level, JP fared better than Scona and ranked as the #1 school in North America due to the I.B program. In comparison, Strathcona tailed at #4. Jasper Place athletic teams are called the "Rebels".

CFRN-DT (channel 3) is a television station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. It is owned and operated by network parent Bell Media alongside cable-exclusive CTV 2 Alberta. The two outlets share studios with sister radio station CFRN (1260 AM) on Stony Plain Road in Edmonton; CFRN-DT's transmitter is located near Highway 21, southeast of Sherwood Park. By way of cable and satellite, CFRN-DT also serves as the default CTV station for much of northeastern British Columbia.

Aldergrove is a residential neighbourhood in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The neighbourhood is bounded on the north by 87 Avenue, on the east by 178 Street, on the south by Whitemud Drive and on the west by Anthony Henday Drive. The Anthony Henday provides access to destinations to the south of the city including the Edmonton International Airport. Whitemud Drive provides access to destinations on the south side, including: the University of Alberta. Old Strathcona, Southgate Centre and South Edmonton Common. According to the 2001 federal census, over half (55.3%) of the residences in the neighbourhood were built during the 1970s. Most of the remainder (38.3%) were built during the 1980s. By 1990, residential development of the neighbourhood was substantially complete. The most common type of residence in Aldergrove, according to the 2005 municipal census, is the single-family dwelling. These account for almost six out of every ten (57%) of all the residences in the neighbourhood. Another one in four (23%) are rented apartments. The remaining one in five (20%) of residences are row houses. Two out of every three (66%) residences are owner-occupied while one in three are rented.>The population in Aldergrove is comparatively mobile. According to the 2005 municipal census, almost one in five residents (17.7%) had moved within the previous twelve months. Another one on five (20.9%) had moved within the previous one to three years. Only half (50.0%) had lived at the same address for five years or longer. There is one school in the neighbourhood, Aldergrove Elementary School, operated by Edmonton Public Schools. West Edmonton Mall is located just to the north east of the neighbourhood in Summerlea. The residents of the community are represented by the Aldergrove community league, established in 1977, which maintains a community hall located at 182 Street and 85 Avenue.

Edmonton Meadowlark was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting from 1971 to 2019.The electoral district located on the western edge of Edmonton was created in the 1971 boundary redistribution from the old electoral districts of Edmonton Jasper Place and Edmonton West. The district has switched support between Progressive Conservative and Liberal candidates with regular frequency since it was created, a trend broken by the election of the New Democrat MLA Jon Carson in the 2015 general election.
