Lefferts General Hospital was "a 160-bed private hospital" at 460 Lefferts Avenue opened in 1958 in the former Crown Heights Hospital, built in 1928.The hospital, which closed in 1978, was on a list of 11 hospitals that the State Health Department attempted to close in 1976, allegedly "to fill up the municipals." In 1979 the building was converted into a dormitory to house 400 Iranian boys, age 10 to 22, who came to the United States "after the fall of the Shah."In 1993 the building was demolished for a girl's yeshiva.

Commercial Field is an athletic field located in the Wingate neighborhood of Brooklyn. It was home to the Commercial High School soccer, football, and baseball teams from around 1906. Other schools, such as Boys High, also called Commercial Field their home from time to time, as did local teams in the American Soccer League in the 1930s. The field was also the home field of the short-lived New York Brickley Giants, of the early National Football League, who played two games there during their 1921 season. In 1926, the Brooklyn Horsemen of the first American Football League used the stadium as their home field. The lot was acquired by the New York Parks Department in 1940, and the field survives today as a multi-sport facility called Hamilton-Metz Field named after US Representative and New York City Comptroller Herman A. Metz and US Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. In 1929, a visiting Bermudan cricket team played several matches at Commercial Field, defeating the All-New York and All-Brooklyn teams. The Bermudans returned for more tours during the 1930s. In 2006, a $1.57 million restoration was completed, with the field relaid in artificial turf. Neighborhood residents often refer to the field by yet another name, Lefferts Park.

Wingate is a neighborhood in the north central portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The area is bordered by Prospect Lefferts Gardens to the west, Crown Heights to the north and east, and East Flatbush to the south. Wingate is bounded by Empire Boulevard to the north, Troy Avenue to the east, Winthrop Street to the south, and New York Avenue to the west. The area is part of Brooklyn Community District 9. It is sometimes considered part of Crown Heights, East Flatbush, and/or Prospect Lefferts Gardens.The neighborhood was originally named Pigtown. It was so named because it was the location of several major pig farms that supplied Brooklyn. Pigtown was at the southern periphery of the City of Brooklyn where it bordered the Town of Flatbush. On modern maps it is bounded on the north by Empire Boulevard (formerly Malbone Street), on the south by Midwood Street, on the east by Albany Avenue and on the west by Nostrand Avenue. Future drag racer Frederick DiNome and his criminal brother Richard DiNome were born and raised in Pigtown.as was Rudy Giuliani, who spent his first seven years there. The neighborhood was renamed to Wingate in the 2000s by real estate developers enjoying the massive influx of new people to Brooklyn. It is named for the now-defunct George W. Wingate High School, locally called "The Banjo School" because of its shape.

George W. Wingate High School is a defunct comprehensive high school in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Wingate neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York City. It opened in 1956 and was closed down in June 2006 due to poor academic performance. The school was then divided into four small schools. The school was named for George Wood Wingate, an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Wingate was the founder of the Public School Athletic League in New York City. The campus now houses four new small schools under the New Visions for Public Schools initiative of the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). There are the International Arts Business School, The School for Human Rights, The School for Democracy and Leadership and the High School for Public Service: Heroes of Tomorrow. The high school's sports teams were known as the 'Generals', for George Wingate's rank in the New York National Guard.

Lamplighters Yeshivah was a Jewish Montessori-style school for Jewish children located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn that was founded in 2009. In 2020, the school was closed due to financial difficulties.

Beth Rivkah (Hebrew: בית רבקה, Bais Rivkah, lit. "House of Rebecca"), formally known as Associated Beth Rivkah Schools, is a private girls' school system affiliated with the Chabad Lubavitch Hasidic movement. It was established in 1941 by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, and developed by his son-in-law, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe. The flagship school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, includes an early childhood division, elementary school, high school, and a teacher training seminary. Other branches are located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada; Yerres, France; Melbourne, Australia; Casablanca, Morocco; and Kfar Chabad, Israel. Many Lubavitcher girls attend the Beth Rivkah school system from first through twelfth grades. Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a residential neighborhood in the Flatbush area of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The community is bounded by Empire Boulevard (formerly Malbone Street) to the north, Clarkson Avenue to the south, New York Avenue to the east, and Ocean Avenue/Prospect Park to the west. On January 8, 2024, clashes broke out at the World Headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, a synagogue located at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, as construction workers, on behalf of the synagogue's leaders, attempted to fill in a tunnel that students had illegally dug beneath the building. The New York City Police Department was called to intervene and arrested nine people.
