New Jersey Medical School

University Hospital is an independent, state owned, teaching hospital in Newark, New Jersey that provides tertiary care to Northern New Jersey. The hospital is certified by the American College of Surgeons and is a state-designated Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in New Jersey.

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) was a state-run health sciences institution of New Jersey, United States. It was founded as the Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1954, and by the 1980s was both a major school of health sciences, and a major research university. On July 1, 2013, it was dissolved, with most of its schools merging with Rutgers University to form a new Rutgers School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, while the School of Osteopathic Medicine, including its Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, became part of Rowan University and was renamed the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

The Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (formerly New Jersey Dental School) is the dental school of Rutgers University. It is one of several professional schools that form Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, a division of the university. Established in 1956, the dental school is located in the University Heights neighborhood in city of Newark, New Jersey, United States. It is the only dental school in New Jersey and is one of only two public dental schools in the New York metropolitan area. On June 28, 2012 the New Jersey state legislature passed a bill that dissolved the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and merged most of its schools, including New Jersey Dental School, with Rutgers University, forming Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences effective July 1, 2013.

Science Park High School, formerly known as Science High School, is a magnet public high school located in the University Heights section of Newark in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school opened in 1974 and serves students in seventh through twelfth grades as part of the Newark Public Schools. The school is for college-bound students, offering many Advanced Placement equally rigorous honors courses and as of the 2013-14 school year, IB classes to those who choose to apply.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 918 students and 61.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.9:1. There were 527 students (57.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 141 (15.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Saint Vincent Academy (SVA), is a four-year, Catholic, college preparatory school for women located on West Market Street in Newark, New Jersey, United States. It operates under the supervision of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary School since 1990.As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 248 students and 26.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.4:1. The school's student body was 58.9% (146) Black, 19.4% (48) White, 12.9% (32) Hispanic, 5.2% (13) two or more races and 2.8% (7) Asian.

St. Joseph Plaza is an event venue in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey which formerly served St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, a parish of the Archdiocese of Newark of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH) is part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. Prior to July 1, 2013, it was affiliated with the now-defunct University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. The School of Public Health educates students to become leaders in public health, researchers, and promoters of population and individual health.

The Rutgers School of Health Professions (abbreviated SHP, also known as Rutgers SHP) is one of the schools that form Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, a division of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The school has campuses in Newark, Piscataway, Scotch Plains, and Stratford, New Jersey. SHP was formerly the School of Health Related Professions of the now-defunct University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).

St. Rocco's Roman Catholic Church is a historic Roman Catholic parish church located within the Archdiocese of Newark at 212—216 Hunterdon Street in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States.

Wickliffe Presbyterian Church is a historic church at 111 13th Avenue in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It is in Richardsonian Romanesque style and was designed by William Halsey Wood. It was built in 1889.The 13th Avenue church replaced a church used previously by the congregation at 2 Wickliffe Street, in Newark. Wickliffe Street intersects 13th Avenue a block or two away.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The church was demolished for the University Heights Houses. It was located on 13th Ave near Boston and Richmond Streets. What remains is a facade with two placards of the Historical significance, one dated 1992.

Prince Street Synagogue (Oheb Shalom), in the Springfield/Belmont neighborhood, is the oldest synagogue building still standing in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States.Documentation records note Prince Street in Newark, New Jersey as a being one of the earliest, relatively clandestine places of Jewish settlement and worship (primarily Sephardic Jews of Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian descent) in the colonial and early American eras. The later arriving Ashkenazi Jews of Newark, New Jersey accommodated to the areas in and around Prince Street, named for one of the original anglicized Sephardic family names.
