Amalienborg

An equestrian statue of King Frederick V of Denmark stands in the center of Amalienborg Square, Copenhagen, framed by the four symmetrical wings of the Amalienborg palace. The statue portrays the king in classic attire, crowned with laurels and with his hand outstretched, holding a baton. Commissioned by the Danish East India Company, it was designed in Neoclassical style by Jacques Saly in 1768 and was cast in bronze in 1771. The apparent dignity and tranquility in the depiction of the king is typical of Danish representations of monarchs. It is considered to be one of the notable equestrian monuments of its time.

Frederiksstaden is a district in Copenhagen, Denmark. Constructed during the reign of Frederick V in the second half of the 18th century, it is considered to be one of the most important rococo complexes in Europe and was included in the 2006 Danish Culture Canon. It was developed to commemorate the 300 years jubilee of the House of Oldenburg ascending to the Danish throne. A. G. Moltke was in charge of the project and Nicolai Eigtved was the main architect. Frederiksstaden has Amalienborg Palace, the Danish residence palace complex with François Joseph Saly's equestrian statue monument to King Frederik V of Denmark in the middle of the octagonal plaza, and Frederik's Church at its center. Together they create an axis that was extended with the creation of the new Copenhagen Opera House in 2005 on the other side of the harbor basin. The district is characterized by straight broad streets in a straight-angled street layout. The streets are lined by bourgeois houses, mansions and palaces. Another important building in the district is the royal Frederiks Hospital which was Denmark's first hospital in the present-day meaning of the word. It now houses the Danish Museum of Art & Design.

Moltke's Palace or Christian VII's Palace is one of the four palaces of Amalienborg in Copenhagen that was originally built for Lord High Steward Adam Gottlob Moltke. It is the southwestern palace, and since 1885, has been used to accommodate and entertain prominent guests, for receptions, and for ceremonial purposes.

The Morten Farum House (Danish: Morten Farums Gård), situated at Amaliegade 21A, is a former 18th-century town house dating from the early years of the Frederiksstaden district of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Its original Baroque style architecture by Nicolai Eigtved—who had also created the masterplan for the district—has later been compromised by the addition of a third storey. A complex of buildings on its rear, consisting of two parallel rear wings and a 10 bays long perpendicular side wing, all of which are yellow-washed with brown-painted timber framing, was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918.

Amaliegade is a street in central Copenhagen, Denmark, which makes up the longer of the two axes on which the Rococo district Frederiksstaden is centred. Amaliegade extends from Sankt Annæ Plads to Esplanaden, passing through the central plaza of Amalienborg Palace on the way where it intersects Frederiksgade, the other, shorter but more prominent, axis of the district. The street is dominated by a number of elegant mansions, most of which are from the second half of the 18th century. At Amalienborg Palace, Amaliegade is spanned by a colonnade. Designed by royal architect Caspar Frederik Harsdorff, it was built in 1794–95 to connect Moltke's Palace, the residence of the king, to Schack's Palace where the Crown prince resided.

The Yellow Palace (Danish: Det Gule Palæ), or Bergum's Mansion, is an 18th-century town mansion situated at Amaliegade 18, next to Amalienborg Palace, in the Frederiksstaden district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is considered the first example of Neoclassical architecture in Copenhagen. Originally built as a burgher's home, the mansion was acquired by the Danish Royal Family. Prince Christian of Glücksborg, later to become Christian IX of Denmark, took up residence there, and it became the birthplace of his children Frederick VIII of Denmark, Alexandra, Queen of the United Kingdom, George I of Greece and Maria Feodorovna, Empress of Russia. Today the building is owned by the Danish Palaces and Properties Agency and houses the Lord Chamberlain's Office.

Amaliegade 16 is a historic building located next to the Yellow Mansion in the heart of the Frederiksstaden district of central Copenhagen, Denmark. The building dates from the 1750s but was altered in the second half of the 18th century. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918.

Amaliegade 15–17 are two originally symmetrical, Rococo-style townhouses located close to Amalienborg Palace in the Frederiksstaden district of central Copenhagen, Denmark. The exterior of the buildings was designed by the architect Nicolai Eigtved who had also created the overall masterplan for the neighbourhood. The house at No. 15 was heightened with a half floor in 1891.
