Priceville, Alabama

The Celebration Arena is a 5,000-seat indoor arena located in Priceville, Alabama, near Decatur. It contains a 150-by-300-foot (45,000 square feet (4,200 m2)) arena floor that can be used not only for sporting events as well as rodeos and horse shows (most notably the world championship show for the Racking Horse), but also for trade shows, flea markets, and other special events, such as concerts (concert capacity is up to 7,000). For a time this arena was the only structure in Alabama that contained a full indoor track. It was formerly the site of the Alabama High School Athletic Association State Indoor Track Meet. Concerns over the facility's safety led to the cancellation of the AHSAA Indoor Track season for 2007-2008. Celebration Arena ended its role as the state's indoor track facility and in 2012 a new indoor track facility was opened adjacent to the Bill Harris Arena at the Alabama State Fairgrounds in Birmingham. In 2009, Celebration Arena was purchased by the State Products Mart of Morgan County and was eventually upgraded with facilities for its current emphasis on horse-related events.

Brooksville is an unincorporated community in Morgan County, Alabama, United States. Brooksville is located along Alabama State Route 67, 2.8 miles (4.5 km) southeast of Priceville. In 1999 Brooksville attempted to incorporate itself. Proponents of the move stated that the laws of the community would be based on the King James Bible and the Ten Commandments.

Westview (also known as the Burleson House) is a historic residence near Decatur, Alabama. The plantation house was built in 1841 by Jonathan Burleson, a North Carolina native who settled in Huntsville as a child. Burleson became a large land- and slaveowner in Morgan County. One of his sons, Rufus Columbus Burleson, moved to Texas and was an early president of Baylor University. Westview was the site of a Union Army camp during the Civil War. After Burleson's death in 1866, much of his land was sold, but the 2,600 acres (1,050 ha) surrounding the house remained in the family. The two-story clapboard structure has a double-height font portico with a second-story balcony. The house has a central hall on each floor with two rooms on either side, and a kitchen wing off the southwest rear that was added around 1912. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Limestone Creek is 45.5 miles (73.2 km) long with a drainage area of 144.3 square miles (374 km2), and is a tributary to the Tennessee River. The river rises in Lincoln County, Tennessee, and flows south into Madison County, Alabama before flowing through Limestone County, Alabama, where most of the river's watershed is located. In fact, Limestone Creek is where Limestone County gets its name. Limestone Creek terminates in the Tennessee River at Arrowhead Landing, which is the southeasternmost point of Limestone County's Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. The land within this watershed is predominantly agricultural, but has experienced significant recent residential growth from the city of Huntsville.

Morgan County Schools is the operating school district within Morgan County, Alabama.

Morgan County is a county in the north-central part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, its population was 123,421. The county seat is Decatur. On June 14, 1821, it was renamed in honor of American Revolutionary War General Daniel Morgan of Virginia. It is a prohibition or dry county, although alcohol sales are allowed in the cities of Decatur, Hartselle, and Priceville. Morgan County is included in the Decatur, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Huntsville-Decatur-Albertville, AL Combined Statistical Area. It is a part of the North, Northwest, and North-Central regions of Alabama.

The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is a 35,000-acre (142 km2) national wildlife refuge (NWR) located along the Tennessee River near Decatur, Alabama. Named after Major General Joseph Wheeler, it was established to provide a habitat for wintering and migrating birds in the Eastern United States. Of the 35,000 acres of the refuge, about 4,085 acres (16.5 km2) are located within Redstone Arsenal. Around 1,500 acres (6 km2) of the Redstone Arsenal land are administered by the Marshall Space Flight Center. The facility has a 16-person staff with a $1,694,000 annual budget. Wheeler NWR is charged with the administration of four other NWRs, including Fern Cave, Key Cave, Sauta Cave and Watercress Darter National Wildlife Refuges. Until recently, Wheeler NWR also administered the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge (now administered by the Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge).

Hartselle City Schools is a school district, established in 1975, serving the student populations of Hartselle, Alabama, and portions of Morgan County, Alabama. The district serves more than 3,100 students with three elementary schools (Barkley Bridge Elementary, Crestline Elementary, and F.E. Burleson Elementary) serving kindergarten through the fourth grade, an intermediate school (Hartselle Intermediate High School) for fifth and sixth graders, a junior high school (Hartselle Junior High School) and Hartselle High School (formerly Morgan County High School) for ninth through twelfth grades. On April 1, 2013, the high school relocated to a new 50-acre campus at 1000 Bethel Road. Barkley Bridge Elementary School was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program in 2011. Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence have designated Hartselle High, Crestline Elementary, F.E. Burleson Elementary and Barkley Bridge Elementary as Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Schools. F.E. Burleson Elementary School was named a national Green Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education. One hundred fifty-three geothermal wells at F.E. Burleson Elementary provide energy to heat and cool the school. Hartselle has won numerous state championships in athletics. The baseball program has won eight Alabama High School Athletic Association state championships, which is tied for No. 4 overall. The softball program is the reigning 2014 Class 5A state champions and is tied for fifth overall with four state championships. Hartselle has also won four state championships in girls golf with Arin Eddy winning two individual titles and Heather Nail winning one individual title. Led by Vickie Orr, the high school has two girls basketball championships in 1984 and 1985. The wrestling program has won two team state championships. Hartselle football, girls basketball and volleyball have one state championship each. Sissy McClung is the only individual state champion in girls tennis.

The Hartselle Downtown Commercial Historic District is a historic district in Hartselle, Alabama. The town was founded in 1870 when the Louisville and Nashville Railroad was extended south to Birmingham and Mobile. Hartselle quickly grew into a transportation hub for shipping timber and cotton. The town was devastated by two fires, in 1901 which destroyed all commercial buildings east of the railroad tracks, and in 1916 where twenty-one buildings including the passenger and freight depots were destroyed. Only nine buildings (all brick) survived the 1916 fire. After an initial building boom from 1916 through 1920, development slowed due to low farming prices after World War I and the Great Depression. Notable structures in the district are the hip roofed L&N passenger depot and two-story freight depot and the Colonial Revival post office (built 1939). Of the commercial buildings, 51 are one story, 14 are two stories, and 1 is three stories. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Hartselle is the second largest city in Morgan County, Alabama, United States, 13 miles (21 km) south of Decatur. It is part of the Decatur Metropolitan Area and the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 15,455. Hartselle was founded in 1869 with the arrival of the South and North Alabama Railroad. It takes its name from George Hartsell, one of the railroad's owners. The post office opened in 1873. It was formally incorporated on March 1, 1875. Most of the oldest buildings were destroyed by a disastrous fire in 1916.

Mooresville is a town in Limestone County, Alabama, United States, located southeast of the intersection of Interstate 565 and Interstate 65, and north of Wheeler Lake. The town is between Huntsville and Decatur, and is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area; its population as of the 2010 census is 53, down from 59 in 2000. Although the town's per-capita income is over $50,000, Mooresville is within the area covered by the charter for the Appalachian Regional Commission, an organization whose goal is to help increase the per-capita income of impoverished areas. Mooresville is within Corridor V of the Appalachian Development Highway System. The town was the primary filming location for Disney's live action production of Tom and Huck (1995).

The Delano Park, operated by the Decatur Parks and Recreation Board, is the oldest park in the city of Decatur, Alabama. It was created in 1887, as part of a master plan to "re-invent" the City of Decatur, then New Decatur. The city created the "Decatur Land Improvement and Furnace Company" for this specific purpose. The company employed a landscape architect by the name of Nathan Franklin Barrett to design a whole new city that had been ravaged by a yellow fever epidemic and the Civil War. The park was designed to be the focal point of the entire plan. The park, named after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mother, was dedicated in the 1930s by Roosevelt himself and later named in her honor as part of a newspaper contest, which sought to commemorate his vision for municipal parks across America. The land was donated to the city of Albany as part of the New Deal, which included a large plan to develop the poverty-ridden city. The park remained mostly a solitary attraction on the fringe of downtown as the only large park in town during that era. This changed in the mid-1950s when the new Decatur High School constructed a new school building to replace an overcrowding "Riverside" High School building. The far eastern end once consisted of a swimming pool called the "Blue Haven". This pool has since been filled in, and the Decatur High marching band now uses a practice field that was created over the former swimming area. The middle portion of the park contains a children's playground, the new "Splash Pad", and a ditch with a concrete bridge donated to the park. The bridge was moved in the 1930s from Ferry Street to accentuate the beauty of the park and has been a favorite location for young and old alike ever since.
