Brookside is a town in north-central Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 1,253. It is a former mining town. The community is a known for being a speed trap.

Watson, also known as Mineral Springs, is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The community is bordered by Brookside on the north and west, by Birmingham and Gardendale on the east and by Birmingham on the south. A post office first opened in Watson in 1903.

Mount Olive, also spelled Mt. Olive is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Alabama. Its location is in the suburbs of Birmingham. As of the 2010 census, the population of the community is 4,079. Mount Olive is bordered on the south and the east by the city of Gardendale, and in fact, some areas that had previously been in Mount Olive have been annexed into Gardendale over the years. Running along part of the border between Mt. Olive and Gardendale is the major expressway, Interstate 65. Eventually, part of Birmingham's Northern Beltline will cut through northwestern sections of Mt. Olive. Mt. Olive has its own elementary school, and was formerly the home of a junior high school.

Adamsville is a city in western Jefferson County, Alabama. It is north from the Birmingham suburb of Pleasant Grove. It initially incorporated in 1901 (although the 1910 U.S. Census stated 1900), but disincorporated in 1915. It later reincorporated in 1953. According to the 2010 census, this town had a population of 4,522, down from its peak population of 4,965 in 2000.

Minor High School is a four-year public high school in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Adamsville. It is one of fourteen high schools in the Jefferson County School System. School colors are purple and white, and the athletic teams are called the Tenacious Tigers. Minor competes in AHSAA Class 6A athletics.

Forestdale is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is north of the Birmingham city neighborhood of Ensley. At the 2020 census, the population was 10,409.

Crumley Chapel, also known as Crumleys Chapel or Oakwood, is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Alabama northwest of Birmingham. The area was first settled in early 1840. The community's name originated from a local church and cemetery, which were named after Robert Crumley, an early farmer of the area.Crumley Chapel Methodist Church was founded in 1859. The Crumley Chapel Cemetery was founded in 1858 and dedicated to Oliver Shoemaker and his wife. Shoemaker donated the land for the cemetery.Ernie Pyle, during his time as a roving reporter, reported on the bitter feud over the attempt to rename the town. He reported in March 1939 that since November 1938 there had been animosity and even some violence about it. At that time the replacement name was "Westwood". Pyle half-jokingly suggested a truce with the compromise name of "Crumwood", knowing that the feuders would probably not take his advice.

WAPI (1070 kHz, "Talk 99-5, Birmingham's Real Talk") is a commercial AM radio station in Birmingham, Alabama. It is owned by Cumulus Media and carries a news/talk format, simulcast with FM sister station 99.5 WZRR. The radio studios and offices are on Goodwin Crest Drive in Homewood.WAPI and WZRR carry local talk shows during the day, but at night they run nationally syndicated shows from Cumulus subsidiary Westwood One including Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, Dan Bongino, Red Eye Radio and First Light. Most hours begin with world and national news from ABC News Radio. WAPI and WZRR are also Central Alabama's radio home for Auburn Tigers athletics. WAPI broadcasts using HD Radio technology. The transmitter is located in Forestdale. WAPI's daytime power is 50,000 watts, non-directional, the maximum power for AM stations permitted by the Federal Communications Commission. Because AM 1070 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A KNX Los Angeles, WAPI must reduce power at night to 5,000 watts, using a directional antenna, as a Class B station.

Bayview is a community in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is north from the Birmingham suburb of Pleasant Grove. This community is built around Bayview Lake. It voted to be annexed by its nearest town of Mulga. However, Bayview today retains its own community identity.
