Thomas Nelson House is a historic home located at Peekskill, Westchester County, New York. It was built about 1860 and is a two-story, frame dwelling with a slightly hipped roof in the Italianate style. It has a two-story rear wing. It is clad in clapboard and sits on a stone and brick foundation. It features a one-story, open front porch with scrolled brackets, paired posts, and bracketed eaves. Also on the property is a contributing well house.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Old St. Peter's Church and Old Cemetery, also known as St. Peter's Church of Cortlandt is a historic Episcopal church and cemetery at Oregon Road and Locust Avenue in Van Cortlandtville, Westchester County, New York. The church was built in 1766 and measures 28 feet by 36 feet. It is a wood-frame building sheathed in clapboards and was restored in 1964. The nearby Elmsford Reformed Church was built in 1793 and is a close replica.The church served as a military hospital during 1781–1782. The cemetery includes graves of eight French soldiers, from Rochambeau's army, who died there.The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 with reference number 73001292. In an "additional documentation approval" listing, for the same reference number, the National Register included more information about the property in an expanded listing, in 2004. The documentation itself, dated 2003, describes one contributing site (the cemetery) and one contributing object, in addition to the already listed one contributing building of the property.

Van Cortlandtville School, also known as Common School District No. 10, is a historic school building located at Van Cortlandtville, Westchester County, New York. It was built about 1850 and is a small, one story, brick vernacular Gothic Revival style building. It has a steeply pitched, slate covered gable roof and board and batten siding. Additions were made to the original building in the early 20th century and in 1940. The building serves as headquarters of the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Carpenter House in Valhalla, Westchester County, New York, is a pre-American Revolutionary War home that was the scene a skirmish with British troops on February 3, 1780.On that date, a large British force attacked Joseph Young's house at Four Corners in Valhalla because an American force of about 250 soldiers, assigned to guard the area, had encamped nearby. The British killed 14 Americans and took 90 prisoners. The Carpenter house was their next target. Located near the Young house, it sheltered several American soldiers recovering from smallpox. The British forced all the sick men out into deep snow, causing their deaths. In later years, the site of the house became part of the Westchester Community College campus, and it was demolished to make way for new construction. Its eighteenth-century detached kitchen was incorporated into the Campbell house located just across Route 100 from the West Gate of the college. The Peekskill Downtown Historic District is a historic district located in the downtown section of Peekskill in the U.S. state of New York. It includes the 40 acres (160,000 m2) along Main, Division, South, Park, Bank, Brown, First and Esther streets, and Central and Union avenues, near where those streets intersect. There are 150 buildings and one object counted among its contributing resources.Peekskill, originally a settlement along the shore of the Hudson River where farmers from inland Westchester County brought produce for transshipment to markets in New York City and elsewhere, began to grow inland in the early 19th century due to the intersection of two major roads that roughly corresponds to today's Central and Division streets. The Albany Post Road, followed later by US 9 until its relocation to the Croton Expressway closer to the river, and the Danbury Turnpike, still followed by US 202 (and, in the western part of the city and district, US 6 and NY 35). Two houses in the district, in a typical Hudson Valley vernacular style, remain from this era.Industrialization began changing downtown after 1830, with brick buildings supporting that use replacing older wooden ones along Magregere's Creek. Many of the district's churches were built by the mid-19th century. Fashionable houses, later known as "Doctor's Row", were built on Main Street. In the 1880s the Moorish Revival tower was built on a structure in the center of town that has remained a landmark for passing travelers ever since. Other late Victorian styles made their mark as well.In the 20th century, some more buildings were added in more modern contemporary styles, and the increasing use of the automobile affected downtown as well. The decline of retail shopping in the district led to urban renewal efforts in the 1960s and 70s. While some historic buildings were razed, the major urban renewal projects coincided with the eastern boundary of the downtown core, sparing most of it. The district was recognized and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 as a rare example of intact 19th-century Hudson Valley downtown architecture.

John Jones Homestead is a historic home located at Van Cortlandtville, Westchester County, New York. It is a large, 1+1⁄2-story, 18th-century residence with Federal-style detailing. The five-bay, timber-frame dwelling sits on a massive rubble stone foundation. It has a gambrel roof with three dormers and pierced by three massive stone chimneys. A 1-story rectangular wing is sheathed in clapboard. Also on the property is a contributing small barn.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It is a brick building in the Colonial Revival architectural style, serving the 10566 ZIP Code, which covers the city of Peekskill and some surrounding areas in the town of Cortlandt. It was built in the early years of the Great Depression as an economic stimulus. The neoclassic arch-headed windows on its front facade are unusual on a post office in New York built prior to the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration. In 1989 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Peekskill High School, established in 1929, is located at 1072 Elm Street in Peekskill, New York, United States. It educates most of the district's ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders. The school's current principal is Dr. Jenna Ferris. Peekskill students prepare for the New York State Regents Exams in science, language, mathematics, history and English. In addition to the Regents curriculum, the high school also offers Advanced Placement courses, which prepare students to take the AP Exams offered by the College Board in early May. A new course at the school as of the 2007–2008 school year is the three-year Authentic Science Research program. Several college courses are also offered. The school replaced the Peekskill High School at 212 Ringgold Street (1929 to 1972). Prior to 1929, Drum Hill School served as the high school, and is now a senior living community. The current school is located on the former grounds of the original Peekskill Military Academy, which closed in 1968.
