Curragh Racecourse

Moorefield is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Newbridge County Kildare, Ireland, winner of two Leinster Club Senior Football Championships, ten Senior County Football Championships and three Senior County Hurling Championships.

The Curragh ( KURR-ə; Irish: An Currach [ənˠ ˈkʊɾˠəx]) is a flat open plain of almost 2,000 hectares (5,000 acres) of common land in County Kildare. This area is well known for Irish horse breeding and training. The Irish National Stud is located on the edge of Kildare town, beside the Japanese Gardens. Also located here is Pollardstown Fen, the largest fen in Ireland. This area is of particular interest to botanists and ecologists because of the numerous bird species that nest and visit there. There are also many rare plants that grow there. It is composed of a sandy soil formed after an esker deposited a sand load and as a result, it has excellent drainage characteristics. This makes it a popular location for training racehorses.

Pollardstown Fen (Irish: Eanach Bhaile Pholaird) is Ireland's largest extant calcareous spring-fed fen, a national nature reserve, Special Area of Conservation, and Ramsar site of approximately 321 acres (1.3 km2) in County Kildare.

The Gibbet Rath executions , sometimes called the Gibbet Rath massacre, refers to the execution of several hundred surrendering rebels by government forces during the Irish Rebellion of 1798 at the Curragh of Kildare on 29 May 1798.

The Curragh Camp (Irish: Campa an Churraigh) is an army base and military college in The Curragh, County Kildare, Ireland. It is the main training centre for the Irish Defence Forces and is home to 2,000 military personnel.

The Army Ranger Wing (ARW) (Irish: Sciathán Fianóglach an Airm, "SFA") is the special operations force of the Irish Defence Forces, the military of Ireland. A branch of the Irish Army, it also selects personnel from the Naval Service and Air Corps. It serves at the behest of the Defence Forces and Government of Ireland, operating internally and overseas, and reports directly to the Chief of Staff. The ARW was established in 1980 with the primary role of counter terrorism and evolved to both special operations and counter-terrorism roles from 2000 after the end of conflict in Northern Ireland. The unit is based in the Curragh Camp, County Kildare. The 2015 White Paper on Defence announced that the strength of the ARW would be considerably increased due to operational requirements at home and overseas.The unit has served abroad in a number of international peacekeeping and peace enforcement missions including in Somalia, East Timor, Liberia, Chad, and Mali. The ARW trains with special forces units around the world, particularly in Europe. The ARW in its domestic counter terrorism role trains and deploys with the Garda Síochána (national police) specialist armed intervention unit, the Emergency Response Unit (ERU).

Maddenstown (Irish: Baile Uí Mhadaín) is a village in County Kildare, Ireland, south of The Curragh and east of Kildare town. It is situated in the barony of Offaly West and the parish of Ballysax. Maddenstown is close to the Curragh race course and is a base for stud farms such as Michael Keogh's Ballysax Manor Stud and racehorse trainers Ms F M Crowley, Paul Deegan, JT Gorman, Caroline Hutchinson, Peter Henley and William Mark Roper. It is located close to the village of Cutbush, and had a population of 133 as of the 2016 census.

Brownstown (Irish: Baile an Bhrúnaigh) is a village in County Kildare, Ireland, south of The Curragh and east of Kildare Town. It is situated on the road from Athy to Newbridge closed to the village of Cutbush. Spanning the townlands of Brownstown Lower and Brownstown Great, it is located in the historical barony of Offaly East and the civil parish of Carn. As of the 2016 census, the Central Statistics Office recorded Brownstown as having a population of 883 people.

Newbridge Greyhound Stadium is a greyhound racing track located northwest of Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. Racing takes place every Friday evening and the facilities include the grandstand Masters Restaurant and Barkers Bar which offers ample seating. Race distances are 325, 525, 550, 575 and 750 yards and the feature competitions are the Unraced Bitch Stake, the Juvenile Derby and the Newbridge Oaks.

Hawkfield (Irish: Gort an tSeabhaic) is a townland in County Kildare, Ireland. It is located on the R416 regional road north of Newbridge. It lies between Newbridge town and Milltown village. It is positioned between Pollardstown Fen and the Bog of Allen - both of which are abundant with rare flora and fauna. It is home to Kildare GAA "centre of excellence".

Sundai Ireland International School (駿台アイルランド国際学校 Sundai Airurando Kokusai Gakkō) was a Japanese international school in Newbridge, County Kildare, Republic of Ireland. It served junior high school and senior high school students, who had Japanese expatriate parents. The school was in operation in the 1990s. This school was an overseas branch of a Japanese private school, or a Shiritsu zaigai kyōiku shisetsu (私立在外教育施設).Curragh Grange was the main building, and it featured the Lafcadio Hearn Library. Kildare House (キルデア・ハウス Kirudea Hausu) served as a classroom building. The campus also featured dormitory and dining facilities.The school closed in March 2003, and Gaelscoil Chill Dara moved into its classroom building. The dormitory building was intended to be converted to a school for special needs children, however it was found to be unsuitable for this purpose. It laid vacant for six years until September 2009, when Newbridge Educate Together began occupying the property. The dining hall building lay vacant for seven years until mid 2010, when Gaelscoil Chill Dara repurposed it to provide additional classrooms to the school.
