Conservatory Water

The Alice in Wonderland sculpture is located in Manhattan's Central Park, approximately at 74th street, on the north side of Central Park's Conservatory Water. The statue stands eleven feet high and portrays Alice surrounded by the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat and other characters from the book enjoying a tea party.The statue was created in 1959 by José de Creeft under the commission of George Delacorte, so children could experience Alice in Wonderland in person. The sculpture was originally cast at the Long Island Modern Art Foundry in the Steinway Mansion. The sculpture is unique because visitors are encouraged to interact with the statue. The statue is made of bronze and was derived from images John Tenniel created for the original publication. The face of Alice is actually based off Creeft's daughter, Donna. The sculpture's Mad Hatter is a caricature of George Delacorte.At the base of the sculpture are engravings from Lewis Carol's poem Jabberwocky.

Pale Male (hatched in 1990) is a red-tailed hawk who has resided since the 1990s in and near New York City's Central Park. Birdwatcher and author Marie Winn gave him his name because of the unusually light coloring of his head. (Some observers may instead write his name as one word, Palemale.) He is one of the first red-tailed hawks known to have nested on a building rather than in a tree and is known for establishing a dynasty of urban-dwelling red-tailed hawks. Each spring, bird watchers set up telescopes alongside Central Park's Model Boat Pond to observe his nest and chicks at 927 Fifth Avenue. Although it has been suggested that over the years that Pale Male could have died and been replaced by a similarly colored bird without the change being observed, there is no strong evidence to confirm or deny this possibility.

927 Fifth Avenue is an upscale residential apartment building in Manhattan, New York City, United States. It is located on Fifth Avenue at the corner of East 74th Street opposite the Conservatory Water in Central Park. The limestone-clad building was designed by Warren & Wetmore, also known for the Grand Central Terminal, and completed in 1917 in the Renaissance Revival style. The building is incorporated as a housing cooperative. It has 12 apartments on 12 floors. Former residents include Paula Zahn and Mary Tyler Moore who moved out in 2005. The co-op became well-known when Pale Male, a red-tailed hawk that nests on ornamental stonework above a 12th-floor window, was featured in an episode of the PBS series Nature. It later gained international notoriety when the board of the cooperative decided to evict the hawks in December 2004. Protests and widespread negative news coverage led to the restoration of the nest three weeks later.

Samuel Finley Breese Morse is an outdoor bronze sculpture depicting American painter and inventor Samuel Morse by Byron M. Pickett, located in Central Park in Manhattan, New York. The portrait statue measures 13' x 5'6" x 5' and sits on a Quincy granite pedestal. It was dedicated on June 10, 1871.

The consulate’s mission is to provide protection and administrative services to French citizens living or traveling in the district. Under the authority of the French Embassy in the United States, its consular district extends across three states (New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey), as well as the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda. Currently housing the consulate general of France, 934 Fifth Avenue was the residence of Charles E. Mitchell, President of the National City Bank (now Citibank). Anne-Claire Legendre has been the consul general since August 2016.

930 Fifth Avenue is a luxury apartment building on Fifth Avenue on the northeast corner of East 74th Street in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. The eighteen-story structure and penthouse was designed by noted architect Emery Roth and built in 1940. According to architecture critic Paul Goldberger, 930 and 875 Fifth Avenue show Roth in transition from historicist to modern Art Deco style.The Fifth Avenue location previously held three private residences which were the estates of Gordon S. Rentschler, Jacob Schiff and Simeon B. Chapin, and were bought by Percy and Harold D. Uris and razed for the new building, which has been described as featuring "a restrained Italian Renaissance style." The building is located within the Upper East Side Historic District.

907 Fifth Avenue is a luxury residential housing cooperative in Manhattan, New York City, United States. The 12-story, limestone-faced building is located at Fifth Avenue and 72nd Street on a site once occupied by the 1893 residence of James A. Burden, which had been designed by R. H. Robertson. The apartment block, built in 1916, was the first apartment building to replace a private mansion on Fifth Avenue above 59th Street. It was converted to a cooperative in 1955. J. E. R. Carpenter was the architect; he would be called upon to design many of the luxury apartment buildings that gave a new scale to Fifth Avenue in the 'teens and twenties of the 20th century. The building won him the 1916 gold medal of the American Institute of Architects.The building has the aspect of an Italian Renaissance palazzo, built around a central court. Its first four floors are lightly rusticated; deep quoins carry the rusticated feature up the corners to the boldly projecting top cornice. A strong secondary cornice above the fourth floor once made a conciliatory nod to the cornice lines of the private houses that flanked it, whose owners had fought its construction in court. When it opened, there were two 12-room apartments on most floors.

The Edward S. Harkness House, located at 1 East 75th Street and Fifth Avenue, is a mansion in the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was constructed between 1907 and 1908 for Edward Harkness by James Gamble Rogers, a principal of the firm Hale & Rogers.The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission designated the house as a landmark in 1967. Its designation report described the building as "an imposing residence in the style of an Italian Renaissance palazzo." Today the Commonwealth Fund, founded by Harkness and his mother, has its headquarters there.

The Oliver Gould Jennings House is a mansion located at 7 East 72nd Street on the Upper East Side of New York City. It was originally constructed in 1898 for Oliver Gould Jennings in the French Beaux-Arts style. In 1964, it became part of the Lycée Français de New York in the neighboring Henry T. Sloane House.The mansion was in turn vacated by the school when it was sold and renovated to become a luxurious single-family home again. The purchaser of the building was Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the (now former) Emir of Qatar, who bought the mansion and the neighboring Henry T. Sloane House around 2004.

The Henry T. Sloane House is a mansion located at 9 East 72nd Street on the Upper East Side of the borough of Manhattan, New York City. It was designed by Carrère and Hastings in the late French Renaissance style and built in 1894.

72nd Street is one of the major bi-directional crosstown streets in New York City's borough of Manhattan. The street primarily runs through the Upper West Side and Upper East Side neighborhoods. It is one of the few streets to go through Central Park via Women's Gate, Terrace Drive, and Inventors Gate, though Terrace Drive is often closed to vehicular traffic.
