Timoleague

The Church of the Ascension is a small Gothic Revival church belonging to the Church of Ireland and located in Timoleague, a town in West Cork, Ireland. It is dedicated to the Ascension of Jesus. Part of the Kilgarrife Union of Parishes in the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, the church is known for its intricate mosaics.

Timoleague Friary (Irish: Mainistir Thigh Molaga), also known as Timoleague Abbey, is a ruined medieval Franciscan friary in Timoleague, County Cork, Ireland, on the banks of the Argideen River overlooking Courtmacsherry Bay. It was built on the site of an early Christian monastic site founded by Saint Molaga, from whom the town of Timoleague derives its name. The present remains date from roughly the turn of the fourteenth century and were burnt down by British forces in the mid-seventeenth century, at which point it was an important ecclesiastical centre that engaged in significant trade with Spain. The friary is the largest medieval ruin in West Cork and one of the few early Franciscan friaries in Ireland to have substantial ruins. It is claustral in layout, and built in the Early English Gothic architectural style. It contains several elements atypical of Franciscan architecture of the period, including wall passages and exterior access to its upper floor. It was significantly altered in the early 16th and early 17th centuries. Several historical artefacts are associated with the friary, and during the Romantic era it was depicted in several notable artworks.

Argideen Rangers is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in Timoleague in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. In 2005 the club won the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship by beating Nemo Rangers in the final. The club plays in the Carbery GAA (South West Cork) division of Cork competitions.

Abbeymahon Abbey (Irish: Mainistir Ó mBána), also known as The Cistercian Abbey of St Mary de Fonte Vivo, and as the Abbey of Sancto Mauro is a ruined medieval Cistercian abbey situated near Timoleague, County Cork, Ireland. Due to a "dearth of documentary evidence", little is known about Abbeymahon Abbey, though it was a flourishing and wealthy abbey up until its suppression in the 16th century.

All Saints' Church is a small Gothic Revival Anglican church located in Kilmalooda near Timoleague, County Cork, Ireland. It was completed in 1858. It is part of Kilgarrife Union of Parishes in the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne, and Ross. Kingsley Sutton is the current rector.

Holy Trinity Church is a small Anglican church located in Rathclaren, County Cork, Ireland. It was completed in roughly 1650. It is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It is part of the Bandon Union of Parishes in the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne, and Ross.

Lios na gCon (from Irish Lios na gCon, meaning 'ringfort of the hounds') is a reconstructed ringfort located in Darrara, County Cork, Ireland. It was excavated and reconstructed on its original location between August 1987 and August 1989 by Macra na Feirme from Clonakilty.It opened to the public in 2009 but was abandoned in 2015 over alleged disagreements between Teagasc (the owners of the land) and Cork County Council.In keeping with other similar ringforts, it may have served as a fortified farmstead between 400 BC and 1200 AD.

Darrara or Darrary (Irish: Dairbhre) is a rural townland near Clonakilty, County Cork in Ireland. The townland, of 1.4 km2 (0.54 sq mi), is home to Teagasc's Clonakilty Agricultural College (some structures of which date to the 1880s) and Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (built in 1897). Evidence of ancient settlement in the area include a restored Iron Age ringfort and a megalithic standing stone (on the grounds of Sacred Heart church).

Kilbrittain or Killbrittain (Irish: Cill Briotáin, meaning "Briotáin's church") is the name of a village, townland and parish in County Cork, Ireland. The village is about 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Bandon, and near Courtmacsherry and Timoleague. The coastal route around the edge of the parish is the R600 road. The village itself is around 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) inland from the coast.

Ballinascarthy GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Ballinascarthy, County Cork, Ireland. It is affiliated with Cork GAA and Carbery divisional board. The club participates in both Gaelic Football and Hurling competitions.
