Belfast East (Northern Ireland Parliament constituency)

St Mark's Church, Dundela, is a Grade A listed parish church of the Church of Ireland located in the Sydenham area of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Strandtown is a district of Belfast. It is in the east of the city, in the BT4 postcode area, lying south of the City Airport and north of the Newtownards Road. The author C.S. Lewis (1898–1963) lived in the district as a child from 1905 to 1908, at a house called "Little Lea". He later moved to England and achieved fame with a wide range of fiction books, mostly notably The Chronicles of Narnia.Facilities in the Strandtown area include Strandtown Primary School, Strand Arts Centre and Connswater Community Greenway.

The Strand Arts Centre, also known as Strand Cinema is an independent four-screen cinema on Holywood Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is one of the two remaining independent cinemas in Belfast, alongside the Queen's Film Theatre. It is the only operational picture house in Northern Ireland down from a total of 40 during the genre's peak popularity.

Dundela Football Club, nicknamed "The Duns" is a semi-professional, Northern Irish football club from Belfast, currently playing in the NIFL Championship, and plays its home matches at Wilgar Park. The club's colours are green and white. The home kit has green shirts, green shorts and green socks, whilst the away kit is all red.

Sydenham railway station is located in the townland of Ballymisert in east Belfast, and is within walking distance of Belfast City Airport and Victoria Park. The station is unstaffed, and was opened on 1 November 1851.

Belfast Victoria was a constituency of the Parliament of Northern Ireland.

The Kincora Boys' Home was a boys' home in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, that was the scene of serious organised child sexual abuse. It caused a scandal and led to an attempted cover-up in 1980, with allegations of state collusion. On 31 May 2016, the Northern Ireland Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry (HIA) began examining allegations relating to Kincora, including claims that a paedophile ring with links to the intelligence services was based there. Northern Ireland Secretary Theresa Villiers said that all state agencies would co-operate with the inquiry.On 20 January 2017, the HIA inquiry concluded that the abuse which took place at Kincora was limited to the actions of three staff members and did not take place with the collusion of the state or intelligence services. The head of the HIA observed that it was a matter of urgency that the victims be compensated up to £100,000.In 2016, Gary Hoy, a former resident of Kincora, lost a UK Supreme Court challenge to the powers of the HIA, which could not compel the UK security services to hand over documents or testify. Clint Massey, another former resident, likewise stated in 2015 that due to the scope of the allegations, the HIA was inappropriate and that, instead, Kincora should be investigated by the Goddard Inquiry. Richard Kerr, another former resident, rejected the remarks made by HIA, specifically the claim that the abuse was limited to three members of staff. In March 2016, he issued a High Court writ suing four government agencies. He continued to challenge the veracity of the HIA investigation and advocated for it to be extended scope to include sexual abuse at Europa Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as well as in UK and Europe.The home was demolished in 2022.

Royal Air Force Sydenham or more simply RAF Sydenham is a former Royal Air Force station in Northern Ireland. In the 1970s it was the main servicing base for Blackburn Buccaneer aircraft, employing 650 civilian workers.

Victoria Park railway station served the area around Victoria Park in east Belfast.

Bloomfield railway station was part of the Belfast and County Down Railway's main line from Belfast to Comber. The station opened 12 May 1879 and closed on 24 April 1950. It was located 1 mile 40 chains (2.4 km) from Belfast Queen's Quay.

Belfast East (Irish: Béal Feirste Thoir, Ulster Scots: Bilfawst East) is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Assembly, 1973. It usually shares boundaries with the Belfast East UK Parliament constituency, however the boundaries of the two constituencies were slightly different from 1983 to 1986 and 2010 to 2011 as the Assembly boundaries had not caught up with Parliamentary boundary changes and from 1996 to 1997 when members of the Northern Ireland Forum had been elected from the newly drawn Parliamentary constituencies but the 51st Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected in 1992 under the 1983–95 constituency boundaries, was still in session. Members were then elected from the constituency to the 1975 Constitutional Convention, the 1982 Assembly, the 1996 Forum and then to the current Assembly from 1998. Ballyhackamore (Irish: Baile an Chacamair, meaning 'townland of the slob land or mud flat') is a townland in County Down, Northern Ireland, it is a suburb of Belfast located on the Upper Newtownards Road. It is also a ward in the UK Parliamentary constituency of East Belfast. The Sunday Times named Ballyhackamore the Brunch Capital of Belfast in a 2018 article on the Best Places to live in Britain. The neighbourhood (often called 'Ballyhack' for short) is the location of several restaurants and cafés as well as a range of local and national shops.
