Carr's Tunnel is an abandoned railway tunnel in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Known locally as Witches' Tunnel, it was originally built in 1856 for the Pennsylvania Railroad. It was brick-lined in 1868–1869. The railway line it was associated with, now dismantled, once ran from Donohoe Station to the now-vanished Carney Station, near the Carney coal mine, and on to Latrobe.In recent years single-family residences have been built directly adjacent to the abandoned tunnel.

Hempfield Township is a township in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 41,585 at the 2020 census, making it the largest suburb in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area by population. Its name is derived from Hempfield in Lancaster County, which was formed in 1729 and is named after the hemp fields in the area.

Bovard is an unincorporated community and coal town in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is located near U.S. Route 119, 2.3 miles (3.7 km) northeast of Greensburg and is also the former home of baseball standout, Anthony Marazza. Marazza, dubbed "MR. BOVARD", is notable for leading Bovard to 6 championships in the past decade in the ICL and Pittsburgh Leagues. The town was originally called Crows Nest, a name which survives in Crows Nest Road, a main street in Bovard. The town was the site of the Crows Nest underground bituminous coal mine, which Keystone Coal & Coke Co. opened in 1910. The town was renamed in 1914 after Harry F. Bovard, a mining company executive. According to a publication of the U.S. Department of the Interior: The Crows Nest Mine at Bovard is located at the end of First Street, along a tributary of Jacks Run.... By 1915 the Crows Nest mine employed 456 persons and produced over 726,000 tons of coal, the largest amount produced from what was one of the most productive mines in the county. Production continued apace during the First World War. Over 540,000 tons of coal were mined each year during the war. Keystone Coal & Coke sold the mine property to Adam Eidemiller in 1942. Underground mining was ended by 1944. Strip mining commenced about this time, and a screening plant handled coal extracted at other mines. Eidemiller closed this coal-cleaning operation in 1950. For a number of years the site remained abandoned. However, in 1959 Adam Eidemiller, Inc. opened the Keystone Concrete Pipe Company, using a number of the old mine buildings for this operation. This concern employed about thirty persons. In 1975 a new coal cleaning plant was constructed next to the concrete pipe factory and leased to the Bovard Processing Company. Bovard has a post office with ZIP code 15619.

Westmoreland Mall is a two-level, enclosed super-regional shopping and casino complex in the municipality of Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh, and owned and operated by CBL Properties. It was completed in 1977 and was extensively renovated and expanded in 1993–1994. The mall features retailers JCPenney, Macy's, and Macy's Home, in addition to Live! Casino Pittsburgh. It contains 1,287,620 square feet (119,624 m2) of retail space on 103 acres (0.4 km2) and over 170 retailers, making it the second-largest shopping complex in Western Pennsylvania in terms of square footage and the largest mall between Pittsburgh and Lancaster.Surrounding the mall are over 25 retailers and dining establishments, including the Westmoreland Crossing strip shopping center, which opened in 1978 and features a 15-screen AMC Theatres complex, Dick's Sporting Goods, Levin Furniture, Michaels Arts and Crafts, Planet Fitness and T.J. Maxx. A variety of restaurants and outparcels completes the mall complex. It is located on the eastern side of the Greater Pittsburgh region on the heavily traveled U.S. Route 30 corridor. Adjacent to Westmoreland Mall, many big box retailers and restaurants can be found along the U.S. Route 30 and Donohoe Road retail area, which is the biggest concentration of retailers and other commercial businesses between Monroeville and Altoona.

Marguerite is an unincorporated community and coal town in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was also known as Klondike. According to a 1994 study by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Marguerite was established in 1897, when The Standard Connellsville Coke Company began developing a coal mine and coke works nearby and built houses for the employees. A second mine followed in 1900. The H.C. Frick Coke Company took over operations in 1903 and built more houses. At one point nearly 1,000 people reportedly lived in the area. Mining and coking ceased in Marguerite in the 1940s. The 1994 study found some traces of prior industrial activity, primarily disused coke ovens.

The site of Old Hannastown is an historic, American archaeological site that is located in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Hannastown Farm, also known as the William Steel Farm, is a national historic district and farm which are located in Salem Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The Five Star Trail runs nearly 8 miles through Westmoreland County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The trail is alongside an active railroad track, Southwestern Pennsylvania Railroad, that stretches between Lynch Field, a Greensburg city park and Youngwood. The trail then spurs off eastward to connect with the campus of Westmoreland County Community College and continues on to Armbrust.

Saint Vincent Seminary is a Roman Catholic seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Father Boniface Wimmer in 1846, who came from Saint Michael's Abbey in Metten, Bavaria, to establish Saint Vincent Archabbey as the first Benedictine monastery in North America. It is the fourth oldest Catholic seminary in the United States. The seminary was officially established on August 24, 1855, through an Apostolic Brief of Pope Pius IX. Civil degrees are conferred by virtue of a charter granted by an act of the Pennsylvania State Legislature on April 18, 1870. Since 1870 over 300 students have earned the Master of Arts degree and 400 Master of Divinity degrees. More than 2,400 diocesan and religious students have been ordained priests.
