The Newkirk House, also known as the Summit House, located at 510 Summit Avenue is the oldest surviving structure in Jersey City, New Jersey. The two-story Dutch Colonial building, composed of sandstone, brick, and clapboard dates to 1690.Originally one story, the outer walls are two feet of stone fitted in lime and mortar. Beams of timber in the basement are six-by-twelve inches and those on the second floor are four-by-six inches spaced four-feet apart. Eight-inch wood pegs, rather than nails, were employed during the time of construction.

Liberty High School is a four-year public high school located in Jersey City, in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Jersey City Public Schools. The school was established in September 1999 as a partnership between the Jersey City Board of Education and Hudson County Community College. The school is intended to offer a very small learning community, in contrast to the large comprehensive high schools in the district, offering a family-like atmosphere where students feel involved, supported and challenged.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 216 students and 25.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.6:1. There were 123 students (56.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 15 (6.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church is a Greek Orthodox parish in Jersey City, New Jersey founded before 1920. The church has been active for over 100 years. It features an incredible local history. The church was visited by former President of Cyprus Makarios III. The Pontus Society has been active since 1929. The church is located behind Journal Square. It is easily accessible by public transportation. There are two Greek Orthodox churches in Jersey City, the other one is Evangelismos Tis Theotokou. Both churches are under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey.

The Stanley Theater at Kennedy Boulevard and Pavonia Avenue is near Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey. The theater opened to the public on March 24, 1928. Mayor Frank Hague attended the ceremonies that evening and, with the audience, was greeted on the screen by actress Norma Talmadge. An orchestral performance, a stage show called "Sky Blues," a newsreel, and a musical piece on the Wurlitzer organ preceded the showing of The Dove starring Talmadge and Gilbert Roland. The Stanley was designed by architect Fred Wesley Wentworth (1864-1943), who is noted for designing many buildings in Paterson following the 1902 fire. When it opened, its 4,300 seats earned it the rank of the second largest theater on the East Coast, behind only New York City's Radio City Music Hall. It was fourth in the country in number of seats in a one-screen theater, behind Radio City, and the Detroit and St. Louis Fox theaters. It was an elegant and popular venue into the 1960s. Stage shows at the theater reflected the popular culture of the times with entertainers ranging from The Three Stooges and Jimmy Durante to Tony Bennett, Janis Joplin, Dolly Parton, and the Grateful Dead. During the 1970s, however, movie attendance suffered and the theater fell into disrepair, and became an RKO (Radio-Keith-Orpheum Pictures) grindhouse. The once beautiful metalwork throughout the building was painted dark blue, and the Wurlitzer organ was removed in the 1970s. It finally closed as a movie theater April 20, 1978. In 1983, the building was purchased by the Watch Tower Society for use as a convention and assembly hall for Jehovah's Witnesses. Thousands of Witness volunteers worked over a nine-month period to renovate the theater. Beginning in October 2012, the theater underwent further renovation by over 2,000 Witness volunteers from across the United States.

Journal Squared, or J2, is a 3-tower retail and residential complex under construction at Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey Upon completion, the complex will consist of buildings of 54, 60, and 70 stories, among the tallest buildings in the state.

The Journal Square Transportation Center is a multi-modal transportation hub located on Magnolia Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard at Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. Owned and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the complex includes a ten-story tower, a retail plaza, a bus terminal, a two-level parking facility, and the Journal Square station of the PATH rail transit system. The underground station has a high ceiling and a mezzanine level connecting the platforms.

1 Journal Square is a skyscraper complex at Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey proposed by the Kushner Companies. The initial version consisted of two towers with roughly 3,000 residential units and 160,000 square feet of commercial space, but the project has been scaled back as of 2020. There was a previously approved design by Becker + Becker Associates that was being developed by Harwood Properties. Construction was never started on the project and Harwood eventually sold the property in January 2015.In August 2019, Kushner Companies lost a lawsuit in which they claimed they were unfairly denied tax abatements due the project. The company and Jersey City later entered into a settlement agreement where Kushner agreed to make a $2.5 million investment in local arts initiatives in exchange for the project's approval. One Journal Square's latest version is set to include twin 52-story high-rises over a 12-story base rising 710 feet to be built in two phases. The entire project includes 1,723 residential units, 41,000-square feet of retail space, and a 883-space parking garage. A sprucing up of the plaza outside the Journal Square PATH station is included in the development’s plans.

26 Journal Square is a 55 m (180 ft) high-rise in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. It was originally known as the Labor Bank Building. It was completed in 1928 and has 15 floors. As of 2009, it was the 23rd tallest building in the city. It is often considered the first skyscraper in Jersey City. The Beaux Arts building was designed by John T. Rowland. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 14, 1984, for its significance in architecture and commerce.The building was originally headquarters of the Labor National Bank. The bank was affiliated with the Branleygran Company, and established by Theodore M. Brandle, a "labor czar" allied with Mayor of Jersey City Frank Hague. Hague channeled construction projects towards the construction bond underwriter, including the Pulaski Skyway. Essentially, Brandle controlled any construction projects in northern New Jersey, and any strikes he might call would be backed by Hague's police.

The Hudson County Administration Building is home to the seat of government of Hudson County, New Jersey, US. It is located at 595 Newark Avenue in the Journal Square section of Jersey City in the abutting Five Corners and Hilltop neighborhoods The building houses government administrative offices, the hall of records, and courts for the county and state. Opened in 1957 and expanded in 1966, the International Style structure is considered obsolete and under consideration for replacement, while being demolished once a new courthouse is built.

The Hudson County Courthouse or Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Courthouse is located in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The six-story structure was originally built between 1906 and 1910 at a cost of $3,328,016.56. It is considered to be an outstanding example of the Beaux-Arts architectural style in the United States.The courthouse was used as the primary seat of government for Hudson County from its opening on September 20, 1910 until the construction of the Hudson County Administration Building in 1966. The courthouse was vacant for many years and was scheduled for demolition. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 25, 1970. Restoration began in the mid-1970s, and the building was reopened in 1985. In 1984, the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders renamed the building in honor of Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr. The restoration of the courthouse was acknowledged by a Victorian Society in America Preservation Award in 1988.As of 2019 the courthouse has eight working courtrooms and also houses the offices of the County Executive, the Hudson County Surrogate and the Hudson County Bar Association; in the past it has been used in a number of television programs and movies, including scenes in the television series Law & Order, the Joker, and for commercials.
