NYC Resistor is a restricted membership private club hackerspace with 25 members in New York, inspired by Chaos Computer Club and other hacker organizations. The New York Times describes it as "kind of frat house for modern-day mad scientists." Its own website describes itself as "NYC Resistor is a hacker collective with a shared space located in downtown Brooklyn. We meet regularly to share knowledge, hack on projects together, and build community."

Boerum Hill (pronounced BOAR-əm) is a small neighborhood in the northwestern portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, bounded by Schermerhorn Street to the north and Fourth Avenue to the east. The western border is variously given as either Smith or Court Streets, and Warren or Wyckoff Streets as the southern edge.Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue are the neighborhood's main commercial districts. The Brooklyn High School of the Arts is in the neighborhood on Dean Street and Third Avenue. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community District 2 and is served by the NYPD's 84th Precinct.

Public Records is a music venue, bar, and eatery in Gowanus, Brooklyn. By day, the space serves as a vegan café and wine bar; by night, it features a nightclub and performance complex. The venue is known for eclectic programming, with a focus on electronic music.

Brooklyn High School of the Arts ("Brooklyn Arts") is a New York City public high school located in Boerum Hill in Brooklyn. It provides pre-college courses and a pre-conservatory arts program. The school has majors including Fine Art (visual and design), Dance (performing arts), Instrumental Music (performing arts), Theater (performing arts) and Vocal Music (performing arts). Students must audition before the teaching staff for their chosen major. The school had its first graduating class in June 2004. Hip-hop recording artist Jeannie Ortega was also part of the first graduating class. It has a student population of about 900 students in grades 9 through 12. The school has extracurricular activities such as a thespian society, peer mediation, guitar club, anime club, chess club, student advisory council, art clubs, newspaper, Gay-Straight Alliance and the National Honor Society. The school offers sports such as volleyball, track, double dutch, basketball, badminton. The principal is Daniel Vecchiano. The high school also offers summer internships via the Preservation Arts program. Students can intern at various architecture, construction, and engineering firms around New York. The school offers programs such as: - Advanced Via Individual Determination. This program trains educators to prepare students for success in high school, college, and a career. Students can apply during their freshman year and if accepted, can participate in the program until their senior year. - The school has a partnership with the Metropolitan Opera House and gives it free access to screening of live shows each month. Examples of past operas shown are "Die Zauberflöte" and "L’Elisir d’Amore". Students, faculty, staff, and locals can go into the schools auditorium and watch the projections of the show. - The Brooklyn Arts Lecture Series brings in professionals from different backgrounds into the school to sit down interview style and share their journey of how the achieved success. Past presenters include the dancer and choreographer Dwana Smallwood and jazz vocalist Marianne Solivan. -New York Cares S.A.T. Program offers students free tutors to help prepare for the S.A.T.s. This program allows students to practice S.A.T.s. Brooklyn arts is one of the fifteen schools in New York City to become an AP capstone affiliate. The advance placement classes offered are in United States history, English language and composition, statistics, world history, human geography, biology, environmental science and psychology.

Boerum Hill Historic District is a national historic district in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, New York, New York. It originally consisted of 238 contributing residential rowhouses and a few commercial buildings built between 1845 and 1890. Most are three bay, three story brick buildings with projecting stoops in a Greek Revival or Italianate style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Its area was approximately doubled in 2018.

Grand Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It opened on April 24, 1888, and had two tracks and two offset side platforms. It was served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line, and until 1920, trains of the BMT Brighton Line. The station was also the easternmost station to share the original Brighton Line trains before branching off to the south at the Franklin Avenue el station, the site of the present-day Franklin Avenue subway station. It also had connections to Putnam Avenue Line trolleys. The next stop to the east was Franklin Avenue. The next stop to the west was Vanderbilt Avenue. In 1936, the Independent Subway System built the Fulton Street subway, but provided no station as competition. The el station became obsolete, and it closed on May 31, 1940.

Cuyler Presbyterian Church, also known as Cuyler Chapel and Cuyler Presbyterian Church and Parsonage, is a historic Presbyterian church at 358-360 Pacific Street in Brooklyn, New York, New York. It was designed by architect Edward Sargent (1842–1914). It was built in 1892 and is a two-story rectangular plan building with a steeply pitched, slate covered gable roof and molded terra cotta copings. It was converted to a private residence in the early 1980s. The former parsonage was built c. 1851 and is a Greek Revival style dwelling. The church served as the cornerstone for the Mohawk community in Boerum Hill (formerly known as North Gowanus). The Mohawk called their neighborhood "Little Caughnawaga," after their homeland in Canada. For nearly 50 years, most Mohawk in New York lived within 10 square blocks in Brooklyn; they were from Kahnawake, a reserve in Quebec, Canada. The men were ironworkers on the bridge and skyscraper projects of New York. The women, some of whom had gone to New York separately for economic opportunity, and others who were wives and mothers, worked in a variety of jobs, as well as creating community for their families.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

WBAI (99.5 FM), is a non-commercial, listener-supported radio station licensed to New York City. Its programming is a mixture of political news, talk and opinion from a left-leaning, liberal or progressive viewpoint, and eclectic music. The station is owned by the Pacifica Foundation with studios located in Brooklyn and transmitter located at 4 Times Square.

The Hub, also known as 333 Schermerhorn Street, is a 610-foot, 55-floor skyscraper in the Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The building contains 754 apartments, four high-rise elevators and three mid-rise elevators.The Hub was the tallest building in Brooklyn when it topped out in December 2015, passing previous record-holder, AVA DoBro, until it was passed in turn by Brooklyn Point, within the City Point complex, in April 2019.

Baptist Temple is a historic Baptist church at 360 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn, New York. It was built in 1893–1894 in the Romanesque Revival style and rebuilt after a fire in 1917–1918. It has a brownstone base and superstructure faced with subtly textured brick with brownstone trim. The building features a large rose window and three corner towers.It is a work of architects Weary & Kramer, and it is a work of Dodge & Morrison.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. The historic pipe organ was undergoing a multi-year restoration at the time. It was seriously damaged in a three-alarm fire that broke out on July 7, 2010.

Park Slope Village is a housing development in the northwestern section of Park Slope, Brooklyn, bordering Gowanus to the west. It was developed by the Fifth Avenue Committee, and built by the Urban Housing Association as part of a 1982 urban renewal project. Construction of the 55 three-unit townhouses was completed in 1986.The distinct pitched roof-line of the townhouses was inspired by the architectural features of the original, now demolished, P.S. 133, which stood in the center of the neighborhood.
