Purey-Cust Lodge boundary wall is an historic structure in the English city of York, North Yorkshire. A Grade II listed building, it dates to 1845.Originally the lodge, walls and gateways to the stone yard of York Minster, since around 1916 it has functioned as the entrance and boundary wall of Purey-Cust Lodge.The height of the wall varies from around 6 metres (20 ft) in its main section, up to around 8.5 metres (28 ft) at the rear of the lodge and down to around 4.5 metres (15 ft) for the section that runs along Precentor's Court.There are three gates, two of which feature nail-studded boarded gates; the third is an iron gate providing access to lodge's driveway. This gate is flanked by the coats of arms of St Peter and the Deanery of York.To the right of the iron gate, the wall is habitable. It features windows, at two levels, of single or paired square-headed lights with diamond lattice glazing. On the garden side, the lodge is of two low storeys. The ground-floor windows include one- and two-light small- and large-pane casements, as well as a 2x2 and a 2x6-pane Yorkshire sash. On the first floor, there are three 2x2s. The interior of the walls has not been inspected.

At the eastern end of that street is the gate to and from the former gardens of the lodge. The gate used to open onto the Minster stoneyard, in the shadow of York Minster.

10 Precentor's Court is an historic building in the English city of York, North Yorkshire. The building is a Grade II* listed structure, standing on Precentor's Court. It stands perpendicular to Fenton House at the western end of the street. Parts of the house date to the 15th-century: stone walls on three sides of the building, and in the entrance hall, the arch of a fireplace. The remainder of that house was demolished in the early 18th century, when the present building was constructed, with a new brick facade facing Precentor's Court. The building was altered internally in the mid-19th century, when a bay was added to the rear. In about 1900, the north-west wing of the house was entirely rebuilt, and the roof of the building was raised, adding an attic.Inside the house, in the ground floor study, there are 16th century beams, 17th century panelling, and an 18th century fireplace. The staircase is early-18th century but has been rebuilt, while the north-east bedroom has an 18th century fireplace, moved from elsewhere.The gates and railings in front of the house are Grade II listed.Reverend George Addleshaw (1906–1982) lived at the property in 1952.

Precentor's Court is an historic street in the English city of York. Although certainly in existence by 1313, the street does not appear on a map until 1610, and it is not given a name (Precentor's Lane) until 1722. It was given its current name exactly a century later.It is a cul-de-sac, running northwest from High Petergate at the western end of York Minster, in front of which the road apexes. A snickelway, known as Little Peculiar Lane, cuts through to the street, at its western end, from High Petergate. The frontages on High Petergate were developed with commercial properties for letting. A new lane, today's Precentor's Court, was developed, dividing these commercial rents from the canons' residences to the rear.Around 1540, the marble and stone bases of two shrines in the Minster were dismantled and buried in what is now Precentor's Court. One was later exhumed during construction work and is now preserved in the Yorkshire Museum.The street was home to St Stephen's orphanage in the 1870s.

Fenton House is an historic building in the English city of York, North Yorkshire. It is a Grade II* listed structure, standing at 9 Precentor's Court. The house dates to 1680, although a mediaeval wall was discovered when floor repairs took place. A new frontage was installed on the house around 1705, and the rear elevation was also rebuilt in the 18th century, although three original attic windows survive. The house was largely refurbished in the 19th century, but some original panelling and the balustrade of the staircase of 1680 survive.The building has a square plan, with four rooms on each of its two storeys. There are also attics and a basement. It is built of brick.Looking directly down Precentor's Court, from its western end, to York Minster, the building was formerly the prebendal house of Cave and, later, Fenton. It stands perpendicular to 10 Precentor's Court at the western end of the street. In 2013, the eight-bedroom home was put on the market for £1.1 million.

The York Arms is an historic building in the English city of York, North Yorkshire. It was designed by James Pigott Pritchett. Part of a seven-unit row (24–36 High Petergate) that is a Grade II listed structure dating to 1838, it faces south at 26 High Petergate. These units are sandwiched between early-18th-century properties. The rear of the properties to the north, on Precentor's Court, are also part of the listing. They were originally residences for canons of the adjacent York Minster.

A statue of Queen Elizabeth II was unveiled at York Minster on 9 November 2022 by King Charles III, two months after the Queen's death in September 2022. The 6ft 7in (2m) tall sculpture was intended to mark the late monarch's Platinum Jubilee and was completed in August 2022, a month before her death. The statue, which stands in a niche on the minster's west front and weighs almost two tonnes, is carved from French lepine limestone. It portrays the Queen wearing her Garter robes and the George IV State Diadem, and holding the orb and sceptre, symbols of authority. The design was chosen by the Queen. The statue was originally to have been unveiled in September 2022, but this was postponed owing to the Queen's death and state funeral that month.

Dean's Park is an urban park in York, England. It was created in the 19th century. Formerly the site of the Archbishop's Palace, during the latter part of the Middle Ages, it is located adjacent to York Minster on its northern side. Other structures nearby include Purey-Cust Lodge, in its northwestern corner, York Minster Library and York Deanery to the north, Minster Court to the northeast, and Treasurer's House to the east. York Deanery, the home of the Minster's Dean, was built in 1939.The park is accessed by four gates at various points around Minster Yard. The Minster's stone yard, which formerly stood on the site of today's park, has now moved to Deangate, on the opposite side of the Minster. During World War II, the park was excavated to house water tanks, but it has since been restored. In 1987, the arcade was rededicated as a war memorial to the dead of the world wars and 19th-century conflicts, and since 1997, it has been grade I listed.The park is managed by the Dean and Chapter of York Minster.

Petergate House (or Oratory House) is a grade II* listed building in the city centre of York, in England. A previous building on the site was constructed about 1500, and its later owners included Thomas Herbert and Henry Swinburne. William Turner bought it in 1723, and largely demolished it, only a single passageway surviving. The new house was of three storeys and seven bays, with a stucco front, lined to resemble stonework, while the rear is of brick.In the 19th-century, a new mansard roof was added, as was a two-storey semicircular bay to the rear. The interior was also largely remodelled, and the staircase was altered and moved. From the original fittings, several fireplaces survive, as does much of the decoration of the left-hand front room on the ground floor. The top of the staircase includes some reused balusters from about 1700.The building serves as the rectory for the York Oratory. It is the home of the Fathers of the Oratory and its garden is occasionally opened to the public.
