Battery Point Light

Hammac was a steam tank ship built in 1920–1921 by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation of Alameda for the United States Shipping Board as part of the wartime shipbuilding program of the Emergency Fleet Corporation (EFC) to restore the nation's Merchant Marine. Early in 1923 the vessel together with two other tankers was sold to General Petroleum Corporation and renamed Emidio. The tanker spent the vast majority of her career carrying oil along the West Coast of the United States as well as between West and East coast. In December 1941 she was shelled and damaged by the Japanese submarine I-17 and eventually wrecked with a loss of five crewmen.

The Superior Court of California, County of Del Norte, also known as the Del Norte County Superior Court or Del Norte Superior Court, is the branch of the California superior court with jurisdiction over Del Norte County.

Crescent City (Tolowa: Taa-’at-dvn; Yurok: Kohpey; Wiyot: Daluwagh) is the only incorporated city in Del Norte County, California; it is also the county seat. Named for the crescent-shaped stretch of sandy beach south of the city, Crescent City had a total population of 6,673 in the 2020 census, down from 7,643 in the 2010 census. The population includes inmates at Pelican Bay State Prison, also within the city limits, and the former census-designated place Crescent City North annexed to the city. The city is also the site of the Redwood National Park headquarters, as well as the historic Battery Point Light. Due to the richness of the local Pacific Ocean waters and the related catch, and ease of access, Crescent City Harbor serves as home port for numerous commercial fishing vessels. The city is on the Pacific coast in the upper northwestern part of California, about 20 mi (32 km) south of the Oregon border. Crescent City's offshore geography makes it unusually susceptible to tsunamis. Much of the city was destroyed by four tsunami waves generated by the Great Alaskan earthquake off Anchorage, Alaska in 1964. More recently, the city's harbor suffered extensive damage and destruction from tsunamis generated by the March 11, 2011 earthquake off Sendai, Japan. Several dozen vessels and many of the docks they were moored to were destroyed as wave cycles related to the tsunamis exceeded 8 ft (2.4 m). The climate of Crescent City is moderate, with cool summers for its latitude as a result of intense maritime moderation. Nearby inland areas behind the mountains have significantly warmer summer temperatures.

KCRE-FM (94.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format licensed to Crescent City, California, United States. The station is owned by Bicoastal Media Licenses Ii, LLC and features programming from ABC Radio, via the Hits & Favorites satellite radio service.

Tolowa Indian Village Site is a historical site in Crescent City, California in Del Norte County. The Native America Tolowa Tride had villages in what is now northern Del Norte County. The villages were on Battery Point and Pebble Beach south of Point St. George, and north of Point St. George. There were a number of large independent Tolowa villages in the area. The site is a California Historical Landmark No. 649. A marker was placed on the site in 1965 by the California State Park Commission working with the Del Norte County Historical Society.

Crescent City North is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Del Norte County, California, United States. The population was 4,028 at the 2000 census. The elevation is 33 feet (10 m). Crescent City North ceased to be a CDP prior to the 2010 census because most of its area was annexed by neighboring Crescent City.

Del Norte High School or DNHS, located in Crescent City, California, is a public high school educating students from grades 9 through 12. It is the only regular public high school in Del Norte County. In 2008 DNHS was accredited for six years (through 2014) by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The current principal, as of 2021, is Alison Eckart, and the dean of students/athletic director is Robert Hadfield. In popular culture, Del Norte High School is the school attended by Laurel Sewell and her friends in the best-selling young adult novel, Wings. Del Norte High School also became sister schools with another school in Rikuzentakata-shi, Iwate, Japan. Del Norte High School obtained an art club and cosplay club in 2018 of the new school year. Del Norte High takes turns with Takata high school each year of traveling their students to Japan one year and Takata's students the next year. As of 2013, it was one of five schools in California offering classes in the Yurok language. Tolowa language classes have been taught "for many years."

Tatlatunne (also, Kal-wa-natc-kuc-te-ne, Ta-a-te-ne, Ta-ah-tens, Ta-t'ea-tun, Ta-t'qla-tun, Ta-ta-ten, Ta-tla tun-ne, Tahahteens, Tahaten, and Tatqlaq-tun-tun-ne) is a former Tolowa settlement in Del Norte County, California. It lay at the present location of Crescent City.

Del Norte Unified School District is a public school district serving Del Norte County, California, United States. It has an enrollment of 3,679 students across eleven schools: eight elementary schools, a middle school, and two high schools. The superintendent is Jeff Harris. Del Norte High School and Crescent Elk Middle School, within the district, are among the few schools that provide instruction in the Yurok language.Its attendance boundary is the same as the borders of the county.

KFVR (1310 AM) was a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican format. Licensed to Crescent City, California, United States, the station was owned by Del Rosario Talpa, Inc.

Bertsch–Oceanview is a census-designated place (CDP) in Del Norte County, California, United States. The community is located east of Crescent City, at an elevation of 20 feet (6.1 m), Bertsch–Oceanview has a total area of 5.9 square miles (15 km2) of which 5.5 square miles (14 km2) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) is water. Its population is 2,520 as of the 2020 census, up from 2,436 from the 2010 census. The Elk Valley Rancheria Indian reservation is located within Bertsch–Oceanview.
