Jeddah (English: JED-ə), alternatively transliterated as Jedda, Jiddah or Jidda ( JID-ə; Arabic: جِدَّة‎, romanized: Jidda, Hejazi pronunciation: [ˈdʒɪd.da]), is a port city in the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia and the country's commerciaI center. It is not known when Jeddah was founded, but Jeddah's prominence grew in 647 when the Caliph Uthman made it a travel hub serving Muslim travelers going for IsIamic pilgrimage to the hoIy city of Mecca. Since those times, Jeddah has served as the gateway for millions of pilgrims who have arrived in Saudi Arabia, traditionally by sea and recently by air.With a population of about 4,697,000 people as of 2021, Jeddah is the largest city in Makkah Province, the largest city in Hejaz, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia (after the capital Riyadh), and the ninth-largest in the Middle East. It also serves as the administrative centre of the OIC. Jeddah Islamic Port, on the Red Sea, is the thirty-sixth largest seaport in the world and the second-largest and second-busiest seaport in the Middle East (after Dubai's Port of Jebel Ali). Jeddah is the principal gateway to Mecca, the hoIiest city in Islam, 65 kilometers (40 mi) to the east, while Medina, the second-holiest city, is 360 kilometers (220 mi) to the north. Economically, Jeddah is focusing on further developing capital investment in scientific and engineering leadership within Saudi Arabia, and the Middle East. Jeddah was ranked fourth in the Africa, MiddIe East, and 'stan countries region in the Innovation Cities Index in 2009.Jeddah is one of Saudi Arabia's primary resort cities and was named a Beta world city by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network (GaWC). Given the city's close proximity to the Red Sea, fishing and seafood dominate the food culture unlike other parts of the country. In Arabic, the city motto is "Jeddah Ghair", which translates to "Jeddah is different". The motto has been widely used among both locals as well as foreign visitors.

Tahlia Street (Arabic: شارع التحلية) (also called Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Street) is a fashion and shopping street in the mid-town of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.The street contains many upscale department shops, and boutiques, such as Prada, Gucci, Versace, Cartier, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani. As the Champs-Élysées is for Paris, Tahlia Street is believed to be the heart of Jeddah and Saudi Arabia's wealthiest district.In 1981, Mayor Mohammed Said Farsi wanted to place a monumental statue on Tahlia Street. He asked the Belgian artist Hubert Minnebo to make a 15 meter high copper statue. Since 1982 the statue 'Hope for the right path' has been on the Sword Roundabout. This commercial street is the destination of soccer fans, who drive up and down waving club scarves and sounding their car horns to celebrate victory.An identically named street in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Street, has been nicknamed Tahlia Street by the residents as it coincidentally shares many similarities with the original Tahlia Street in Jeddah.

Danube Company Limited is a supermarket and hypermarket chain in Saudi Arabia. It is owned by BinDawood Holding, the grocery retail operator of hypermarkets and supermarkets in Saudi Arabia. Since becoming part of BinDawood Holding in 2001, Danube has grown to 47 current locations.

Serafi Mega Mall is a shopping mall on the corner of Tahlia Street and 60th street in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It hosts two gaming areas, In10So and MoonToon, that feature Arcade Games, Escape Hunt, Laser Tag, Kart Racing, Bowling and Archery. The building has a L-shaped layout with shops arranged along a central "spine". A 16,000 sq ft (1,500 m2) Danube hypermarket is one anchor. The other anchor is a six-story office building. The project cost was $100 million

His Majesty King Saud Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الملك سعود) is the largest mosque in the city of Jeddah and is located in Jeddah's Al-Sharafeyyah District. The Mosque was designed by Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil and was finished in 1987. It is mainly built of bricks and covers an area of 9,700 square metres (104,000 sq ft) with the prayer hall alone covering 2,464 square metres (26,520 sq ft). The largest dome has a span of 20 metres (66 ft) and reaches a height of 42 metres (138 ft). The Minaret reaches a height of 60 metres (200 ft)

Prince Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, previously known as the Prince Sultan bin Fahd Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The stadium has a capacity of 10,000 people and opened in 1987. In October 2011 it was renamed as Prince Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium as a tribute to Prince Mohammed bin Abdullah, one of the former presidents of Al Ahli club. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Al Ahli club.

International Medical Center or IMC is a large hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and was built in 2005. The CEO of the Center is Dr. Walid Fitaihi. The IMC is a multi-disciplinary hospital that features specialty centers providing a wide range of comprehensive treatment options for different health problems. These services are delivered by more than 150 physicians in more than thirty specialties including Orthopedics, Cardiology, Oncology, Women's Health and Children's Health. The IMC was inaugurated in 2006 by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the late Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz after more than twelve years of extensive planning. In 2017, IMC bought 62% of Bait Al Batterjee Medical Company shares in Saudi-German hospitals across the region.

International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ; Arabic: المدرسة الفلبينية العالمية بجدة) is a Philippine international school in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It serves levels pre-elementary through senior high school. As of 2005 it had over 1,000 students, making it the world's largest Philippine international school.

The Jeddah Flagpole is a flagpole in King Abdullah Square in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Standing 171 metres (561 ft) high, it was the tallest flagpole in the world from 23 September 2014 until 26 December 2021, when the Cairo Flagpole in Cairo, Egypt was erected at a height of 201.952 m (662.57 ft).The cylindrical flagpole was built of 500 tons of steel in September 2014 by the Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiative and Al-Babtain Power & Telecom. The flagpole sections were lifted into place by a Liebherr LR 1750 crawler crane with a 182-meter boom operated by Gulf Haulage and Heavy Lift Company.The flagpole broke the previous height record held by the Dushanbe Flagpole in Tajikistan, which is 165 metres (541 ft) tall. Record holders previous to the Dushanbe flagpole included the 162-metre (531 ft) National Flagpole in Azerbaijan and the 160-metre (520 ft) Panmunjeom Flagpole of Kijŏng-dong in North Korea. A Saudi Arabian flag, 49.5 metres (162 ft) by 33 metres (108 ft) and weighing 570 kilograms (1,260 lb), was raised for the first time on 23 September 2014, the National Day of Saudi Arabia. The Jeddah Flagpole is located in the center of King Abdullah Square, surrounded by 13 lights that represent the 13 governorates of Saudi Arabia. The 26,000-square-meter park, also known as "Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Square", is located next to Jeddah's North Corniche. One-third covered with plants, it represents the two swords and palm tree, the emblem of Saudi Arabia.

Hala International School (HIS) (Arabic: مدرسة هلا العالمية, romanized: Madrasah Hala al-ʿĀlamīyah) was a K–12 gender-isolated English-medium multicultural international school in the al-Aziziyah neighborhood of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, active from 1991 to 2018 and served students across 24 different nationalities from the city, mostly the Pakistani diaspora. Established in 1991, it was accredited to the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and later with the Cambridge Assessment International Education. It was approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Saudi Arabia and was regarded as one of the best performing schools in Jeddah prior to its closure in 2018.
