Long Run Baptist Church and Cemetery (also known as the Lincoln Cabin Site) is a historic church and cemetery on Long Run Road in Eastwood neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. In 1786 Captain Abraham Lincoln, grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln was murdered near this site by Native Americans, while President Lincoln's father, Thomas Lincoln, age eight, watched his father's murder. Tradition states that Captain Abraham Lincoln was buried by his cabin, which is now the site of Long Run Baptist Church and Cemetery. A stone memorializing Captain Abraham Lincoln was placed in the cemetery in 1937. The church was built on the site in 1844. The church and cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The Masonic Temple in the Fisherville neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky is a historic building from at least 1852. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.Originally the building was jointly owned and used by two Religious denominations (the Fisherville Christian Church, and the Fisherville Baptist Church) and the local Masonic lodge (Philip Swigert Lodge No. 218). The Christian Church sold its shares to the Baptist Church in 1881. The Masons and the Baptist Church continued to share the premises until 1951, when the Baptist congregation sold its share to the lodge. In 1975 the Masons moved to a new building and sold the property. It is now in private hands. It appears that the building has been destroyed.

Simeon Moore House, also known as Cane Run Farm, is a historic house and farmstead located along Cane Run on Taylorsville Road, in the Fisherville neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The Simeon Moore house was built by widower Simeon Moore (1804-1873) in about 1850. He had purchased 134 acres in far eastern Jefferson County in 1836 and added 77 more acres to his farm in 1850, the year he is believed to have built his home. Simeon's wife Jane (Carrithers) Moore died in 1838 at the age of 27, leaving him with at least five children. The Moores' son Charles inherited the house at his father's death and owned it until about 1900 when it was sold out of the family. The house is a 5-bay brick I-House in design with Greek Revival interior detailing which is substantially intact. The original house is unaltered in plan and consists of one room on either side of a central stair hall on each floor. A modern kitchen ell to the rear of the house replaces an earlier kitchen and porch addition. An early 20th century front porch was replaced in recent years. The form of the house is common in the area but the brick is laid in a bond pattern said to be unique in Jefferson County. The penciled mortar joints are similar to those at the Presley Tyler House at the Blackacre Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead. The property includes two vernacular frame barns, a root cellar, a corn crib converted to an office and garage, and a modern garage.

Fisherville is a neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, United States, which is centered along Taylorsville Road and Finchville Road. It was originally named Curreys after Edward Currey, who opened a post office in 1833. In 1847, it was renamed after Robert Fisher who had died two years earlier and operated a mill on Floyds Fork with his father, John. The area became more commercial in the late 19th and early 20th centuries due to the opening of railroad tracks and the discovery of a mineral water well. Visitors came for the therapeutic value of the mineral water, but when the well went dry in 1914 the area began its reversion to being a primarily residential area. Fisherville is also home of one of Louisville's great Basketball coaches, Denny Crum, who coached for the University of Louisville for 30 years attaining 2 Men's Basketball Championships.

The 2014 PGA Championship was the 96th PGA Championship, played August 7–10 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. This was the third PGA Championship at Valhalla, which previously hosted in 1996 and 2000, both won in playoffs, as well as the Ryder Cup in 2008. Rory McIlroy won his second PGA Championship and fourth career major title, one stroke ahead of runner-up Phil Mickelson.

The 37th Ryder Cup Matches were held September 19–21, 2008, in the United States at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Team USA won 161⁄2 - 111⁄2 to end the streak of three successive victories for Europe. This was USA's largest margin of victory since 1981 and the first time since 1979 that the Americans had held the lead after every session of play. The team captains were Paul Azinger for the US and Nick Faldo for Europe. The U.S. team had been in the lead since the contest began on the Friday. Europe was two points behind going into the Sunday singles matches. They had only previously overturned a deficit once before, in 1995. USA won the majority of the first matches out and subsequently Jim Furyk defeated Miguel Ángel Jiménez 2 & 1 to win his match and win the Ryder Cup for the USA. Other matches still out on the course would see this margin of victory increase further. Following the defeat Nick Faldo was heavily criticised for his decision to "bottom load" his best players in the singles when the Americans only needed 51⁄2 points to win which they got before they could have any effect on the overall outcome.

Valhalla Golf Club, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is a private golf club designed by Jack Nicklaus, opened in 1986. In 1992, Valhalla was selected to host the PGA Championship in the year 1996, one of golf's four majors. The following year (1993), the PGA of America purchased a 25% interest in the club. After the championship in 1996, the PGA of America raised its stake to 50% and announced that the event would return to Valhalla in 2000. At its conclusion, the PGA of America exercised an option to purchase the remaining interest in the club. Later that year, it announced that the Ryder Cup would be held at Valhalla in 2008. Valhalla also hosted the PGA Club Professional Championship in 2002 and the Senior PGA Championship in 2004. The PGA Championship was originally scheduled to be played at Valhalla in 2004, but the PGA of America switched it to Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.In 2009, the PGA of America announced that the Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Championship would return to Valhalla in 2011 and 2014, respectively. in November 2017, the PGA of America announced that the PGA Championship would return to Valhalla in 2024.On June 1, 2022, the club and the PGA of America jointly announced that the club had been sold to a group of club members led by Jimmy Kirchdorfer, CEO of locally based piping supplier ISCO Industries. Other group members include former Yum! Brands CEO David Novak, businessman and former NBA player Junior Bridgeman, and hotelier Chester Musselman.The course sits on a 486-acre (2.0 km2) property on Shelbyville Road (US 60) in the eastern portion of Louisville just outside the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265) It was envisioned by local business leader Dwight Gahm (pronounced "game") and his three sons in 1981, and opened five years later.
