The Cole Motor Car Company was an early automobile maker based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Cole automobiles were built from 1908 until 1925. They were quality-built luxury cars. The make is a pioneer of the V-8 engine.

The "Battle" of Pogue's Run took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 20, 1863, during the American Civil War. It was believed that many of the delegates to the Indiana Democrats state convention were carrying firearms in the hope of inciting a rebellion. Union soldiers entered the hall in which the convention took place and found personal weapons on many of the delegates. Afterwards, Union soldiers stopped trains carrying delegates to their home areas, causing many of the delegates to throw weapons into Pogue's Run, thereby giving the event its name.

The Damien Center is the largest care center (providing both health and counseling services) for people with HIV/AIDS in Indianapolis, Indiana. It has been open since 1987 and is the longest-sustained project of the Indy Bag Ladies.

Indianapolis Park or Athletic Park (II) was a baseball ground in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was the Sunday home field of the Indianapolis Hoosiers baseball club of the National League from 1888 to 1889.It was located on a block bounded by New York Street (north, left field); Arsenal Avenue (east, right field); Ohio Street (south, first base); and Hanna Street (now Oriental Street) (west, third base). The venue was used for Sunday games due to blue laws that prevented play at their primary home, Tinker Park. During 1887, the club had used the Bruce Grounds for Sunday games, but it was thought to be too far away from the city center to draw well. The ballpark site is now occupied by a residential neighborhood.

Center Township is one of nine townships in Marion County, Indiana, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 142,787 and it contained 76,872 housing units. It is the most populated township in Marion County. Center Township includes downtown Indianapolis and part of Beech Grove.

John Fitch Hill House is a historic home located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built about 1852, and is a two-story, five-bay, Italianate style frame dwelling. It has a low hipped roof with double brackets and a centered gable. It features a full-width front porch added in the 1880s.: 11 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Cole-Noble Commercial Arts District is a neighborhood in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It is situated on the east side of downtown Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Downtown Heliport is a heliport located in the city center of Indianapolis. The heliport was opened in 1969 as a private use heliport under the name Beeline Heliport and, in 1979, was turned into a public facility operated by the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA). In 1983, the FAA picked the heliport to be part of its National Prototype Demonstration Heliport Program, a project launched to illustrate the usefulness and viability of full-service downtown heliports in the United States, and as a result it received considerable funding for improvements and expansion. It currently has one main pad for landing, an apron, and two hangars. IFR approaches are possible. In mid-2020, the IAA submitted a request to the city of Indianapolis to approve the closing of the heliport, stating that the financial burden of operating the facility was greater than the public value derived from it. In December of that year, the IAA made a formal request to the Federal Aviation Administration for the closure. The IAA is working with the last tenant of the helipad, Indiana University Health's LifeLine, to find a new location for LifeLine's helicopters. Upon closure, the 5-acre (2.0 ha) site will be sold for commercial development.

Lockerbie Square Historic District is a national historic district on the National Register of Historic Places within Indianapolis, Indiana, listed on February 23, 1973, with a boundary increase on July 28, 1987. It is noted for its Federal, Italianate, and Queen Anne style architecture. The original platting of Lockerbie Square, done by Jannett Smith Lockerbie McOuat and named for her father, Scottish immigrant George Murray Lockerbie, was between 1847 and 1850. The 1960s saw an immense effort to save the buildings within the district, becoming the first historic district in Indianapolis. Many of the buildings date from 1855 to 1930. James Whitcomb Riley, famed Hoosier poet, lived in the district for over two decades. He was known to give candy to local children on his regular walks.

The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home, one of two homes known as the James Whitcomb Riley House on the National Register of Historic Places, is a historic building in the Lockerbie Square Historic District of Indianapolis, Indiana. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1962 for its association with poet James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916), known as the "Hoosier poet".

Jackson Buildings, also known as the Standard Grocery/Capital Furnace, were two historic commercial buildings located at Indianapolis, Indiana. One was a four-story brick building built about 1882–83, and the other, a five-story building built about 1923. The older building exhibited Italianate and Beaux-Arts style design elements. The buildings housed a variety of commercial enterprises, including the Standard Grocery Company.: 2–3  The two buildings were demolished and replaced by a bank building. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and delisted in 1993.

The Harriett was a historic apartment building located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built about 1905, and was a three-story, U-shaped, Classical Revival style yellow brick and grey limestone building.: Part 2, p. 14–15  It has been demolished. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and delisted in 2011.
