Northfield Community Schools

Northfield is a city in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 8,624, reflecting an increase of 899 (+11.6%) from the 7,725 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 420 (+5.7%) from the 7,305 counted in the 1990 Census.Northfield was incorporated as a city by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 21, 1905, from portions of Egg Harbor Township. A portion of Egg Harbor Township was transferred to Northfield in 1931, and then reverted to Egg Harbor Township in 1933.The city calls itself the "Gateway to the Shore", just over the bridge from the beaches, and is located about 7 miles (11 km) west of Atlantic City, bordering the municipalities of Pleasantville, Egg Harbor Township and Linwood.

Atlantic County Library System is the county library system of Atlantic County, New Jersey. The library system is the information center in Atlantic County. The Library System includes nine branch libraries located throughout Atlantic County: Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton, Mays Landing, Pleasantville, Somers Point, and Ventnor. The computerized public access catalog contains over 500,000 books, audio-visual and downloadable items. Atlantic County Library System also has a bookmobile, books-by-mail, and other outreach services.

The Atlantic City Country Club is a golf club located in Northfield, New Jersey, 6 miles (10 km) west of Atlantic City. In addition to a golf course, the club offers banquet and dining facilities. The course resides on 170 acres (0.69 km2) in a coastal setting with skyline views of Atlantic City.

Linwood Borough School No. 1, also known as the Leedsville Schoolhouse, is a former one-room schoolhouse built in 1873 and located at 16 West Poplar Avenue in Linwood of Atlantic County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 20, 1984 for its significance in architecture and education. The Linwood Historical Society now uses the building as a museum.

The 1975 U.S. Women's Open was the 30th U.S. Women's Open, held July 17–20 at Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, New Jersey, west of Atlantic City. This champion was Sandra Palmer at 295 (+7), four strokes ahead of the three runners-up, JoAnne Carner, Sandra Post, and amateur Nancy Lopez. Age 18 and a recent high school graduate, Lopez co-led after 36 holes at 147 (+3).

The 1965 U.S. Women's Open was the 20th U.S. Women's Open, held July 1–4 at Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, New Jersey. Carol Mann, age 24, won her only U.S. Women's Open, two strokes ahead of runner-up Kathy Cornelius, the 1956 champion. It was the second of Mann's two major championships, who had an opening round of 78 (+6); at the 72nd hole on Sunday, she needed a par to win and made a birdie.This was the first U.S. Women's Open scheduled for four days since 1952, with the final round on Sunday. From 1953 through 1964, the third and fourth rounds were both played on Saturday; the U.S. Open also moved its final round to Sunday in 1965. The purse was substantially increased, with a winner's share of $4,000, up from $2,200 in 1964. Defending champion Mickey Wright, a four-time winner, had an injury to her left hand and did not compete.The course previously hosted the championship in 1948 and it returned in 1975.

The 1948 U.S. Women's Open was the third U.S. Women's Open, held August 12–15 at Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, New Jersey. Babe Zaharias won the first of her three U.S. Women's Open titles, eight strokes ahead of runner-up Betty Hicks. It was the fifth of ten major championships for Zaharias. The U.S. Women's Open returned to the course in 1965 and 1975.

The Linwood Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade from Linwood, in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2017-18 school year, the district and its two schools had an enrollment of 822 students and 71.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.6:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "GH", the third-highest of eight groupings. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Students in public school for ninth through twelfth grades attend Mainland Regional High School, which also serves students from Northfield and Somers Point. The high school is located in Linwood. For the 1997-98 school year, Mainland Regional High School was recognized by the United States Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School. As of the 2017-18 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 1,267 students and 111.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.4:1.

Linwood is a city in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 7,092, reflecting a decline of 80 (−1.1%) from the 7,172 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 306 (+4.5%) from the 6,866 counted in the 1990 Census.Linwood was originally incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 20, 1889, from portions of Egg Harbor Township, based on the results of a referendum held the previous day. Linwood was reincorporated as a city on April 27, 1931. The area had been called Leedsville until 1880, when a post office was being established. The United States Postal Service insisted that the name had to be changed as it conflicted with an existing post office elsewhere in the state. Among the names proposed and considered by local residents were "Brinola", "Geneva", "Pearville" and "Viola", with "Linwood" ultimately chosen.

Mainland Regional High School is a regional public high school and school district serving students in grades nine through twelve from the communities of Linwood, Northfield and Somers Point in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States, serving a total population of over 25,000 in the three communities. The high school is located in Linwood. Mainland Regional High School has been recognized by the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, the highest honor that an American school can achieve.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,239 students and 108.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.5:1. There were 233 students (18.8% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 65 (5.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The school is fully accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education. The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "DE", the fifth-highest of eight groupings. Harbor Square, formerly Shore Mall, is a shopping plaza (formerly a shopping mall) in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey in the United States on U.S. Route 40/U.S. Route 322 originally known as "Searstown". The plaza is accessible from Exit 36 off the Garden State Parkway. The plaza is owned by Aetna Realty. The plaza has a gross leasable area of 337,423 ft², formerly 620,000 ft² when it was a mall, located on 73 acres (300,000 m2) of land. The plaza's anchor store includes Boscov's.

The Press of Atlantic City is the fourth-largest daily newspaper in New Jersey, United States. Originally based in Pleasantville, it is the primary newspaper for southeastern New Jersey and the Jersey Shore. The newspaper designated market runs from Waretown in southern Ocean County (exit 69 on the Garden State Parkway) down to Cape May (exit 0). It also reaches west to Cumberland County. The paper has a combined print and digital daily circulation of 72,846 and a Sunday circulation of 95,626. The Press closed its printing facility in Pleasantville in 2014, at which time it outsourced printing to a facility in Freehold. That printing plant (owned by Gannett) closed in 2017, with most of the New Jersey printing and production operations consolidated in Gannett's Rockaway plant.Coverage focuses largely on local and regional news, with limited state, national and international news appearing on the Nation & World page in the Money section on page D3. The Press also publishes various other products, including At The Shore, the area's entertainment guide. Presented in tabloid format, it is inserted in the paper each Thursday and an additional 20,000–40,000 copies are bulk dropped to key tourist locations throughout the year. Other specialty niche publications include Bliss, a twice yearly bridal magazine; Real Estate Monthly; Summer Fun; The Atlantic County Living Guide; and The Cape May County Living Guide, among many others. Two branded editions of the paper, Press Extra and Sunday Saver, provide very limited coverage of the area. Because The Press focuses on local issues, with an emphasis on local and school events – particularly high school sports – other daily papers have penetration in the area. These include The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Asbury Park Press, Cherry Hill's Courier-Post and the Vineland Daily Journal.
