Gornji Grad–Medveščak (Croatian pronunciation: [ˈɡorɲi ˈɡrad medveʃˈt͡ʃak], lit. 'Upper Town–Medveščak') is one of the districts of Zagreb, Croatia; Gornji Grad translates as "Upper Town", referring to its historical location on city's hillside, being above Donji Grad ("Lower Town"). The district is located in the central part of the city and, according to the 2011 census, it has 30,962 inhabitants spread over 10.19 km2 (3.93 sq mi).Gornji Grad–Medveščak is a district with a high number of historic sites and tourist attractions. Gradec and Kaptol, the two distinct cores of medieval Zagreb, are forming today's Upper Town, and both are parts of this district. The city's Cathedral, the St. Mark's Church and the Croatian Parliament are located in Gornji Grad, as is the popular pedestrian café street Tkalčićeva. There are also other noteworthy objects located outside the oldest historical towns, such as city's monumental cemetery Mirogoj that was built since 1876, located further north. It is bordered by four other districts: Donji Grad to the south, Črnomerec to the west, Maksimir to the east and Podsljeme to the north.

The Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI; Croatian: Institut Ruđer Bošković, pronounced [instǐtuːt rûd͡ʑɛr bɔ̂ʃkɔʋit͡ɕ], IRB) is a research institute located in the Šalata neighborhood of Zagreb, Croatia, founded in 1950, which studies the sciences.

The Nova Ves (meaning new village in Kajkavian language) is a historic street north of the Kaptol neighborhood in Zagreb, Croatia. It is administratively within the bounds of the Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district. According to the 2001 census, the street and its surrounding area had 3,456 inhabitants. In 2009, it had a population of 3,575. From the first habitation to date, the street has had a rich history as an important part of Zagreb ever since the beginnings of the modern city. The first mention of the street (as "Lepa Ves") can be found in a document dating to 1334, which calls the settlement a "villa." The area of today's street is mentioned again in a 1361 document as "our new village at St. John's of Zagreb," documenting the nearby church of St. John the Baptist, located near the today's Little Street (Croatian: Mala ulica). The residents of the Nova Ves had rights similar to those of Gornji Grad, i.e. the ability to select their own magistrate, the requirement to pay taxes to the Kaptol Chapter, etc. The street has traditionally been inhabited by prebendaries of the Zagreb Cathedral on Kaptol. It was characteristic for its small wooden houses, some of which can still be found in the parallel Tkalčićeva Street (one remains on the corner of Little Street and Nova Ves). The prebendary houses were demolished by 18th and 19th century and replaced with modern houses made out of brick, most of which are still standing today. It is often mentioned in connection to the Vlaška Ves (today Vlaška Street, Vlaška ulica), a similar settlement extending east from Kaptol.Together with the parallel Tkalčićeva Street, Nova Ves is today one of the major tourist sights in central Zagreb. Although being predominantly residential, it houses various restaurants and the shopping malls Centar Kaptol (opened in 2000) and the nearby Cascade/Prebendarski vrtovi (English: Prebendary gardens), opened during Autumn of 2009.

Šalata (pronounced [ʃaˈlata]) is an upper-class residential neighborhood in Zagreb, Croatia. It is administratively part of the Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district in the northern part of Zagreb and it has a population of 1,929.Šalata houses the Šalata Sport and Recreation Center (ŠRC Šalata) and the University Hospital Centre Zagreb (KBC Zagreb). The neighborhood is located east of Medveščak Road, the main thoroughfare of its parent city district, on the gentle slopes of the Medvednica. Due to its hilly nature, Šalata is approximately 40 to 70 meters (130 to 230 ft) above downtown Zagreb.The residents of Šalata are close to almost all major events outside the neighborhoods due to their proximity to both the old city cores of Gornji Grad and Kaptol, and the current center, Donji Grad. Šalata is praised for great views of the city because of its higher altitude in relation to the rest of the city and its position on some of the southernmost hills of Medvednica. Due to these factors, real estate in Šalata is relatively expensive compared with other districts, which made it become home to many influential people from the political, musical and sports scene in Croatia.

The Archdiocesan Classic Gymnasium (Croatian: Nadbiskupska klasična gimnazija s pravom javnosti, often referred to by the abbreviation NKG) is a Catholic high school located on 106 Voćarska Road in the neighborhood of Šalata in Zagreb, Croatia. The school implements a program highlighting the classical culture and history, having students learn the Latin and the Ancient Greek. The school promotes Catholicism and serves as a public preparatory school for the Interdiocesan Boys' Seminary, a seminary for future Catholic priests located in the same building complex.

The Mirogoj City Cemetery (pronounced [mîrɔɡɔːj], Croatian: Gradsko groblje Mirogoj), also known as Mirogoj Cemetery (Croatian: Groblje Mirogoj), is a cemetery park that is considered to be among the more noteworthy landmarks in the city of Zagreb. The cemetery inters members of all religious groups: Catholic, Orthodox, Muslim, Jewish, Protestant, Latter Day Saints; irreligious graves can all be found. In the arcades are the last resting places of many famous Croats.

Croatian Catholic Radio (Croatian: Hrvatski katolički radio, HKR) is a non-profit Croatian radio station with a statewide concession. The founder and owner of the radio station is the Croatian Bishops' Conference. The station started broadcasting on May 17, 1997 when it was blessed by the Cardinal Franjo Kuharić, then president of the Croatian Bishops' Conference.

The Military Ordinariate of Croatia (Croatian: Vojni ordinarijat u Republici Hrvatskoj) is a military ordinariate of the Roman Catholic Church. Immediately subject to the Holy See, it provides pastoral care to Roman Catholics serving in the Croatian Armed Forces and their families.

The Mala Scena Theatre is a theatre in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. It is credited as Croatia's leading theatre for children. It is also the oldest private theatre for young audiences in Croatia. In 1996, the first Croatian president Franjo Tuđman awarded the founders Vitomir Lončar and Ivica Šimić with the Order of Danica with the figure of Marko Marulić for special merits to culture. In 2009, the theatre received the City of Zagreb Plaque for its work.In March 2020 the Mala Scena and the Croatian National Theatre announced they would "transfer cultural content from the theatre to the virtual world" in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as reported by HRT. In the midst of the pandemic it received some financial support from the state.In recent years the theatre suffered several setbacks, including three bankruptcies, but always managed to get back to its feet. Founded in 1989, the theatre has had 126 premieres and 1,200,000 visitors in thirty years, winning a total of 95 awards.

Cascade Centar was a shopping complex in Zagreb, Croatia. It was opened at the end of 2009 during the European financial crisis. By 2011 it was clear there were not enough shoppers to cover the high rents, and tenants began to move out. The center went bankrupt in 2012. It was demolished in 2015.

The Zagreb Astronomical Observatory (Croatian: Zvjezdarnica Zagreb) is the astronomical observatory located in Zagreb, the Croatian capital, and founded in 1903. It is managed by the Zagreb Astronomical Society; its main purpose is educational.
