Ohiopyle State Park is a Pennsylvania state park on 20,500 acres (8,300 ha) in Dunbar, Henry Clay and Stewart Townships, Fayette County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The focal point of the park is the more than 14 miles (23 km) of the Youghiogheny River gorge that passes through the park. The river provides some of the best whitewater boating in the Eastern United States. Ohiopyle State Park is bisected by Pennsylvania Route 381 south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The park opened to the public in 1965 but was not officially dedicated until 1971. Ohiopyle State Park was chosen by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and its Bureau of Parks as one of "25 Must-See Pennsylvania State Parks".

Sugarloaf Knob

Sugarloaf Knob is a well-known summit within Ohiopyle State Park on the south end of the Laurel Ridge. This mountain has a unique profile and can easily be recognized at different lookouts in the park and surrounding area. The Youghiogheny River cuts beneath the "knob" and Laurel Hill creating a 1,700-foot (520 m) deep chasm. The highest peak in the area is the south end of the Laurel Hill Ridge as it reaches 2,920 ft (890 m) above sea level. Sugarloaf Knob is easily accessible by a park road which takes you to just below the summit. A short bushwhack from there will get you to the top of the mountain.

The population was 623 at the 2020 census.Stonerville and Kaufmann are the only villages in this very rural township, which is served by the Uniontown Area School District. Two U.S. National Historic Landmarks are in Stewart Township. They are Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. Both were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and are available for touring.

Ohiopyle Highway Bridge

The Ohiopyle Highway Bridge is a structure that carries two lanes of Pennsylvania Route 381 Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania The span, which opened in 1975, is the third to be located in the vicinity. An original 19th-century covered bridge was replaced by a Pratt truss bridge around 1900. Because of a low-clearance underpass located directly adjacent to its southern approach, this structure proved to be obsolete once the automobile replaced the train as the primary method of tourism in the years following World War II. Although already scheduled for replacement, the discovery of a major fatigue crack sealed the fate of this structure, leading the way for the present girder bridge to be erected.
