Porta Galliera, Bologna

The Park of Montagnola is a public park in Bologna, Italy; it owes the original construction (1805) to Napoleonic rule, who commissioned the park design from Giovanni Battista Martinetti. The base of the park contains the ruins of the 14th-century Castello di Galliera, which then leads to a scenographic staircase (1893-1896), designed by Tito Azzolini and Attilio Muggia. The stairs are decorated by sculptural reliefs and statues inspired by the history of Bologna, completed by the Arturo Orsoni, Pietro Veronesi, Tullo Golfarelli, Ettore Sabbioni, and Arturo Colombarini. The parks central basin was completed for the Exposition of the Province of Emilia in 1888, by design of Diego Sarti.

San Benedetto is a Roman Catholic church in central Bologna. Founded in the 12th century, the church now has facade (1606) designed by Giovanni Battista Ballerini. The Facade was rotated 180 degrees in 1892; it once face Via Galliera, and now faces Via dell'Indipendenza. The interior contains works by Giacomo Cavedoni, Alessandro Tiarini, Cesare Aretusi, Lucio Massari, Ercole Procaccini il Vecchio, Ubaldo Gandolfi, and a sculpture by Angelo Gabriello Piò.

The Bologna massacre (Italian: strage di Bologna) was a terrorist bombing of the Bologna Centrale railway station in Bologna, Italy, on the morning of 2 August 1980, which killed 85 people and wounded over 200. Several members of the neo-fascist terrorist organization Nuclei Armati Rivoluzionari (NAR, Armed Revolutionary Nuclei) were sentenced for the bombing, although the group denied involvement.

Bologna Centrale is the main railway station in Bologna, Italy. The station is situated at the northern edge of the city centre. It is located at the southern end of the Milan-Bologna high-speed line, which opened on 13 December 2008, and the northern end of three lines between Bologna and Florence: the original Bologna-Florence line through Porretta Terme and Pistoia; the Bologna–Florence Direttissima via Prato, which opened on 22 April 1934 and the Bologna-Florence high-speed line, which opened to traffic on 13 December 2009. Bologna Centrale is the fifth-busiest in Italy in terms of passenger movements (about 58 million passengers per year). It is, however, one of the busiest, along with Rome Termini Station, for the number of train movements per day (about 800).The station is linked to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport by the Marconi Express, a direct monorail line 5-kilometre (3.1 mi) in length, launched on 18 November 2020.

The Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Pioggia is a small church, located on Via Riva Reno 122, between Galliera road and Riva di Reno road in central Bologna, Italy. It was once the Oratory of San Bartolomeo di Reno.

The Palazzo Bonasoni is a Renaissance-style palace in Via Galliera 21 in central Bologna, Italy. It stands across the street from the Palazzo Felicini. The site with prior homes belonged originally to the Caccianemici dall’Orso family. By the mid-16th century, it was acquired by the rising nobleman Galeazzo Bonasoni. His family had originally been from San Giovanni in Persiceto and Castello d’Argile, but moved to Bologna by 1472. Galeazzo's father had been a docent in canon law at the University of Bologna. In 1544, Galeazzo had been named knight and Count Palatine by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. Documents suggest that in 1556, Galeazzo employed the architect Antonio Morandi, known like his father as il Terribilia, to help design the palace. The palace passed through various hands. Previously parts of the palace had been frescoed by Mitelli and Bigari, but the works are now lost. It still retains a 16th-century fresco, somewhat damaged, which has been variously attributed to either Giovanni Francesco Bezzi or Pellegrino Tibaldi. Some of the sculpture work is by Achille Bocchi (1555). There are some 19th-century frescoes attributed to Girolamo Dalpane and Malvezzi dè Medici (1854). A marble Venus in a niche in the courtyard is attributed to the 19th-century sculptor Claudia Collina.

The Cispadane Republic (Italian: Repubblica Cispadana) was a short-lived client republic located in northern Italy, founded in 1796 with the protection of the French army, led by Napoleon Bonaparte. In the following year, it was merged with the Transpadane Republic (formerly the Duchy of Milan until 1796) to form the Cisalpine Republic. The Cispadane Republic was the first Italian sovereign State to adopt the Italian tricolour as its flag.

Santa Maria Maggiore is a former Collegiate, Roman Catholic church, located on Via Galliera #10 in central Bologna, Italy. It is a house over from the Palazzo Aldrovandi.

The Palazzo Grassi is Gothic-style, 13th-century palace located on Via Marsala #14 in Bologna, region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. The palace in 2015 houses the Circolo Ufficiali dell'Esercito, a private Officer's club.

San Martino church, also called San Martino Maggiore is a Gothic-style, Roman Catholic church located at the corner of Via Marsala and Via Guglielmo Oberdan in Bologna, region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. The church was founded by the adjacent Carmelite monastery. On 10 August 1704 via the authority of the Vatican Chapter, the venerated image of the Virgin of Mount Carmel was crowned by Pope Clement XI. On 25 August 1941, Pope Pius XII elevated it to the status of basilica.

The Teatro Contavalli was an opera house and theatre located at Via Mentana #2, in Bologna, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Long since utilized as a theater, the site is now occupied by offices for the Centro Italiano di Documentazione sulla Cooperazione e L' Economia Sociale.
