Cedar City is the largest city in Iron County, Utah, United States. Located 250 miles (400 km) south of Salt Lake City, it is 170 miles (270 km) north of Las Vegas on Interstate 15. Southern Utah University is located in Cedar City. It is the home of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Utah Summer Games, the Simon Fest Theatre Co., and other events. As of the 2020 census the city had a population of 35,235, up from 28,857 in the 2010 census.

The Cedar City Historic District is a set of one hundred and seventy-two buildings in Cedar City, Utah. Of these, one hundred and four contribute to its historical integrity. Cedar City was originally an iron works near the Latter-day Saint city of Parowan. After Brigham Young shut down the iron facilities, two-thirds of Cedar City's residents left for other settlements. The remaining families prospered from sheep ranching. The Union Pacific Railroad connected to the town in the early 1900s and provided a tourism boom for the city. The district represents some of the oldest houses for Cedar City residents, most of which were farmers or ranchers. Later houses in the district represent early 20th century revivals.

Groovefest Music & Art Festival - formerly Groovefest American Music Festival is a multi-day music festival held in Cedar City, Utah, United States. The festival is held each year during the final week of June. It is a seven-day festival that is dedicated to American music, with genres including blues and folk, bluegrass, country, Americana, and jazz. Past notable artists have included Trampled by Turtles, Pert Near Sandstone, Richmond Fontaine, Great American Taxi, 56 Hope Road, Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Cee Cee James, Stranger, Harper & Midwest Kind, Wayne "The Train" Hancock, Jackstraw. The Groovefest went virtual in 2020.

The Cedar City Railroad Depot was a train station in Cedar City in the U.S. state of Utah. Built in 1923, the station directly contributed to the growth of the iron ore and livestock industries in the area. The depot was constructed by the Union Pacific Railroad. The Union Pacific also helped to purchase hotels and buses and to construct lodges for the area, leading to a growth in the tourism industry in southern Utah. Over time, automobile traffic replaced the heavy reliance upon railroad travel, and the depot was closed in 1959. The depot now remains as the only building that documents the growth of tourism and the reliance upon railroad in Cedar City from the first half of the twentieth century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. As of 2017, the depot houses storefronts for a couple of local businesses.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival is a theatrical festival that performs works by Shakespeare as their cornerstone. The Festival is held during the summer and fall on the campus of Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, United States.

Southern Utah University (SUU) is a public university in Cedar City, Utah. Founded in 1897 as a normal school, Southern Utah University now has over 1,800 graduates each year with baccalaureate and other graduate degrees from its six colleges. SUU offers more than 140 undergraduate and 19 graduate programs. More than 10,000 students attend SUU. SUU's 17 athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and are collectively known as the Thunderbirds. SUU joined the Western Athletic Conference in July 2022.

SUCCESS Academy (Southern Utah Center for Computer, Engineering and Science Students) is an early college high school based in Cedar City, Utah, United States. SUCCESS Academy has three campuses, one located at Southern Utah University (SUU) in the Iron County School District, one at Utah Tech University in the Washington County School District.

America First Event Center is a 5,300-seat multi-purpose arena in Cedar City, Utah. It was built in 1985. It is home to the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds basketball, volleyball and gymnastics teams. The America First Event Center is also the centerpiece venue for the Utah Summer Games. The arena was previously known as the Centrum Arena but was renamed in 2017 as part of a naming rights deal with America First Credit Union valued at $1.5 million over 10 years.

Thunderbird Park was a baseball venue in Cedar City, Utah, United States. It was home to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds baseball team. As part of the athletic program's move to the Big Sky Conference for the 2012–2013 season, Southern Utah's baseball program was discontinued. The venue had a capacity of 500 spectators.Following the 2012 season, the baseball venue was demolished, and the area was converted to a soccer field.

Southwest Technical College (Southwest Tech) is a public technical college in Cedar City, Utah. It serves Beaver, Garfield, Iron and Kane counties. In addition to its campus in Cedar City, Southwest Tech also operates a campus in Kanab, Utah. Southwest Tech focuses on certificate programs in Automotive, Business, Computer Science, Culinary Arts, Digital Media, Health Professions, Industrial Maintenance and Automation, Professional Truck Driving and Welding. It is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education, and is one eight regional technical colleges in Utah under the parent organization, the Utah System of Technical Colleges.

Eccles Coliseum is an 8,500-seat multi-purpose stadium in the western United States, on the campus of Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. It is the home venue of the Southern Utah Thunderbirds football team of the United Athletic Conference and track and field teams of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).The stadium also hosts the Utah Summer Games opening ceremonies and several events. Opened 57 years ago in 1967, its Hellas MatrixTurf playing field has a traditional north-south alignment at an elevation 5,800 feet (1,770 m) above sea level. The surface was natural grass until 2012.
