Fir Tree is a village in County Durham, in England. It is west of Crook, near the River Wear. Fir Tree has a petrol station and two pubs: The Duke of York and The Fir Tree Country Hotel. According to the 2001 census, Fir Tree had a population of 226. Wear Valley Council say the population, according to the census of 2007 (for Wear Valley) was 314. It is approximately 2 mi from the small market town of Crook and 6 mi from the large market town Bishop Auckland. Approximately 1 mi northwest of the village is the World War II Harperley POW Camp 93.

The Church of St Philip and St James is a church in Tow Law, County Durham, England. The church was designed by architect Charles Hodgson Fowler (1840-1910) and completed in 1869. Built of sandstone, the decorated church features a south-west tower. It became a Grade II listed building on 5 June 1987. The church is administered as one of The Four Parishes - including St Mary & St Stephen Wolsingham, St Bartholomew Thornley Village and St.Cuthbert Satley.

Tow Law railway station served the town of Tow Law, County Durham, England, from 1847 to 1965 on the Stanhope and Tyne Railway.

Sunniside is a small rural village to the east of Tow Law and north of Crook in County Durham, England. Sunniside has one pub, and a former post office. There is a collection of newly built homes in the west of the village, called The Paddock. There are five streets, Gladstone Terrace, Flag Terrace, Front Street (the main street) Garden Terrace, and a little offshoot along a back road to Roddymoor, called Grahams Cottages.

Tow Law is a town and civil parish in County Durham, England. It is situated a few miles to the south of Consett and 5 miles to the north west of Crook. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,952, increasing to 2,138 at the 2011 Census.The main road through the town is the A68, which starts in Darlington and goes on north, ending near Dalkeith, just south-east of Edinburgh. The River Deerness rises from a spring on the eastern edge of the town.Tow Law Town football club is based in the town. The town is mentioned in Mark Knopfler's song "Hill Farmer's Blues" from his album The Ragpicker's Dream.

Tow Law Town Association Football Club is an English non-league football club from Tow Law, County Durham, currently playing in the Northern League Division One, in the ninth level of the English football league system. The team, nicknamed "The Lawyers", play their home games at Ironworks Road. The club's fans are known as "The Misfits". The club was founded in 1890 as Tow Law F.C., before adding the Town to their name in 1905, and throughout their history they have played in a number of local leagues including the Auckland and District League, the South Durham Alliance and the Crook and District League, before joining the Northern League in 1920. They have won the Northern League's Division Two twice—in 1988 and 1992—and its Division One on three occasions—in 1924, 1925 and 1995—but they have never been promoted or demoted from the Northern League since joining it more than 90 years ago. Tow Law reached the final of the FA Vase in 1998, having progressed all the way from the first round, but were beaten by Tiverton Town in the final at Wembley Stadium.

Inkerman was a village in County Durham, England. Built in 1854–1855 a short distance to the north-west of Tow Law to house ironstone miners, it was named after the victorious Battle of Inkerman of the Crimean War, similarly to Balaclava, another County Durham village. In the 1930s the mines in the area went into liquidation, and the village was demolished in 1938.Present-day maps retain the name for the handful of houses around the junction of the A68 and Inkerman Road.

Roddymoor is a village in County Durham, in England. In the 2001 census Roddymoor had a population of 500.

High Stoop railway station also known as High Souk was a railway station that served the village of High Stoop, County Durham, England. It was located on the Bishop Auckland and Weardale Railway line from Bishop Auckland to Blackhill between Wear Valley Junction and Tow Law.
