Totnes Castle

South Hams is a local government district on the south coast of Devon, England. Its council is based in the town of Totnes, although the largest town is Ivybridge. The district also contains the towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe and numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. Much of the district's landscape is recognised for its natural beauty; the north of the district includes part of Dartmoor National Park, the district's coastline and adjoining areas form most of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and part of the west of the district lies within the Tamar Valley AONB. The district's coast includes the promontories of Start Point and Bolt Head. The neighbouring districts are Torbay, Teignbridge, West Devon, Cornwall (across the Tamar–Tavy Estuary) and Plymouth.

The Devonshire Collection of Period Costume is a collection of historic costumes housed in the Totnes Fashion and Textiles Museum in the town of Totnes, South Devon, in southwest England. The collection includes clothing for men, women, and children, dating from the 17th to the 21st century. An annually updated exhibition is displayed in Bogan House, a Tudor merchant's house at 43 High Street, Totnes.

The Leechwell is a set of three springs in Totnes, Devon, England. It was known in historical times for its supposed healing properties; this tradition continues among the town's large New Age community. Totnes Museum (formerly Totnes Elizabethan House and Museum) is a local museum in the town of Totnes, south Devon, in southwest England. The museum is housed in a Grade I listed Elizabethan merchant's house that was built c.1575 for the Kelland family. The house still has many original features. In 1958 Totnes Town Council purchased the Elizabethan House and carefully restored it to its former glory. In 1961 the Elizabethan House would open to the public as Totnes Museum. Today Totnes Museum is run by the charitable organisation Totnes Museum Trust and is free admission. Totnes Museum extends over two buildings and three floors including twelve gallery rooms, a courtyard, and a herb garden. Towards the back of Totnes Museum is Totnes Archive. The collections date from 5000BC to the present day. These range from early archaeological finds, coins minted in Totnes during Saxon times, Elizabethan artifacts and Victorian ephemera. The museum aims to entertain and educate visitors with the cultural, economic, and social history of Totnes. The museum various museum galleries include the Forehall, a Kitchen exhibition and the Babbage Room, which presents a history of Charles Babbage, the Victorian mathematician who invented the Difference Engine and Analytical Engine, working with Ada Lovelace. This was the mechanical precursors of the modern computer. Babbage spent his youth in Totnes and studied at King Edward VI Grammar School there.

Totnes Signal Box is a Grade II listed former Great Western Railway signal box, located on Totnes railway station. It presently functions as a cafe.

Totnes ( or ) is a market town and civil parish at the head of the estuary of the River Dart in Devon, England, within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is about 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Paignton, about 7 miles (11 km) west-southwest of Torquay and about 20 miles (32 km) east-northeast of Plymouth. It is the administrative centre of the South Hams District Council. Totnes has a long recorded history, dating back to 907, when its first castle was built. By the twelfth century it was already an important market town, and its former wealth and importance may be seen from the number of merchants' houses built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Today, the town has a sizeable alternative and "New Age" community, and is known as a place where one can live a bohemian lifestyle. Two electoral wards mention Totnes (Bridgetown and Town). Their combined populations at the 2011 UK Census was 8,076.

Totnes Trinitarian Priory, also known as the Trinitarian hospital of Warland was a medieval monastic house in the town of Totnes in Devon, England. It was founded in 1271, and dissolved in 1509.Parts of the priory's chapel still remain as ruins.
