Garfield Park (Indianapolis)

The Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument (or Garfield Park Confederate Prisoner of War Monument) was a large granite monument that sat at the south entrance of Garfield Park in Indianapolis for nearly a century, before being removed in 2020. It commemorated the Confederate prisoners of war that died at Camp Morton. At 35 feet (11 m) tall and located in the city's oldest public park, it had been the most prominent of the very few Confederate memorials in the Union state of Indiana. It was dismantled and removed by the city of Indianapolis in June 2020 after a yearslong debate, part of a national wave of removal of Confederate memorials during the Black Lives Matter movement.

Christel House Academy is a network of learning centers supported by Christel House International (CHI). The centers, authorized by the Mayor of Indianapolis, operate as public charter schools on multiple campus locations. Christel House Academy South opened in 2002 on the Southside of Indianapolis and serves more than 600 low income students in grades K–12. Christel House DORS South, an adult dropout recovery high school, is located on the Christel House South campus. Christel House DORS West, the Academy's second adult high school, opened on the Christel House West campus in 2015.In December 2013 Christel House Academy received an F-rating in Indiana state school accountability rankings.In subsequent years, Christel House Academy South earned a B.

Emmerich Manual High School, often referred to as Manual High School, is a public high school in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It formerly was a traditional high school in the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) district. It is now one of the schools operated by Christel House Academy and is named Christel House High School.

Fountain Square Academy was a free public charter school for grades 6–12 in Indianapolis, Indiana. It offered a "Middle College" program that allowed qualifying high school students to take college courses for college credit at Ivy Tech Community College at no additional cost while still enrolled in high school.The school was closed after the 2011–2012 school year when Greg Ballard, the mayor of Indianapolis, declined, in March 2011, to renew its charter due to lack of academic progress.

The Bates–Hendricks neighborhood is situated just south and east of the downtown commercial district of Indianapolis, Indiana. The Fountain Square business district is just to the east. Access to the neighborhood from the north is by way of East Street, while Terrace Street off of Madison Avenue enters the neighborhood from the west and Prospect Street offers access from Fountain Square.

The Wheeler–Schebler Carburetor Company was one of the Indianapolis's most important auto parts manufacturers and the last automobile parts factories in Indianapolis, Indiana to survive from the first decades of the 20th century. The Wheeler–Schebler Carburetor Company Building was the company's original building at the Barth Avenue site. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

General German Protestant Orphans Home, also known as the Pleasant Run Children's Home , is a historic orphanage located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was designed by architect Diedrich A. Bohlen (1827–1890) and built in 1871–1872. It is a 2+1⁄2-story brick institutional building on a limestone block foundation. It has eclectic German vernacular detailing and varying roof forms.: 2–5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Indiana's 7th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is entirely located within Marion County and includes most of Indianapolis, except for the southern side, which is located within the 6th district. The district is currently represented by Democrat André Carson, who won a special election in 2008 to succeed his grandmother Julia Carson following her death in 2007. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of D+19, it is the most Democratic district in Indiana.The district is one of three to be represented by a Muslim in the United States, the others being Michigan's 13th, represented by Rashida Tlaib; and Minnesota's 5th, represented by Ilhan Omar.From 1967 to 2003, the district served a completely different area of Indiana, covering Fountain, Parke, Tippecanoe, Montgomery, Clinton, Boone, Hendricks, Vigo, Clay, Putnam, and Owen counties and parts of Morgan and Hamilton counties. It had a dramatically different political history from the current 7th; it was a mostly rural area anchored by Terre Haute and Lafayette, and was heavily Republican. After the loss of a congressional seat in 2000 by virtue of that year's census, an ambitious redistricting plan was implemented in 2002. As mentioned above, most of the old 10th became the new 7th, while the territory of the old 7th was split into the 4th and 8th districts. This district and its predecessors have not elected a Republican since 1972, and it is considered a safe Democratic seat.

Indiana's 10th congressional district was a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in Indiana. It encompassed roughly the "Old City Limits" of Indianapolis from 1983–2003. The district was re-drawn after the 1980 census and eliminated when Indiana's representation in the House of Representatives fell from 10 to nine after the 2000 census. Congresswoman Julia Carson, who formerly represented the 10th, was elected in 2002 to represent Indiana's 7th congressional district. This district was redrawn to include the old 10th plus some new territory outside the old boundaries. The old 7th district was absorbed as part of Indiana's 4th congressional district and Indiana's 8th congressional district in 2003. From 1983-2003, the 10th had just two representatives, Congressman Andrew Jacobs Jr. and Congresswoman Julia Carson. Carson was the second African-American to represent any part of Indiana in Congress. Katie Hall was the first, having represented Indiana's 1st congressional district, from 1982-1985.

The R.B. Annis School of Engineering, established in 2017 as a result of a $5 million gift from the R.B. Annis Educational Foundation, is an engineering school within the University of Indianapolis. The school offers BS degrees in more than a half-dozen disciplines, including computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, computer science, and general engineering. The school currently only offers BS degrees, and so is not included in many college/school rankings, such as U.S. News & World Report, whose list of the best engineering schools only includes programs granting doctoral degrees. As of 2021, the school claims a 98% rate of students either finding jobs or being accepted to graduate school within 6 months of graduation.

The Fountain Square Theatre is a theater in Indianapolis, Indiana that now houses restaurants, bars, a hotel, duckpin bowling, as well as the original theater. Construction of the building was completed on Friday, May 4, 1928, with an original capacity of 1,500. It hosted a variety of entertainment including moving pictures and live vaudeville shows which included a full orchestra pit and Marr-Colton organ. The Theatre had its official opening on Saturday, May 5, 1928, and was noted for its Italian themed interior. Fountain Square Recreation, a bowling alley and billiard hall, was located on the fourth floor. Frank Baldwin Hunter of Indianapolis was the architect.
