It lies either side of the River Cam, just south of the A303, and has a population of 459. The parish includes the hamlet of Urgashay. Neighbouring villages include Queen Camel, and Bridgehampton.

Chilton Cantelo School was a small profit-making mixed private school located in the village of Chilton Cantelo (near Yeovil and Sherborne) in Somerset, England. The school was briefly owned and operated by the Cognita Group. Set on 25 acres (10 ha) of grounds, an 18th-century manor house housed the school. It accepted pupils between the ages of 4 and 18. The school had boarding places for up to 220 of its pupils, with day pupils offered 'flexi-boarding' when needed. Class sizes were typically small. Chilton Cantelo School was a member of the Independent Schools Association, the Independent Schools Council and the Boarding Schools Association. In July 2016, Cognita closed the school, making staff redundant, because of a fall in admissions since 2007.Chilton Cantelo became home to The Park School, prior to The Park School's closure.

The Church of St Barnabas in Queen Camel, Somerset, England was built in the 14th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.A former church in Queen Camel was the mother church to Somerton, Chilton Cantelo and the surrounding area before 1140. In the 12th century the church was given to Cleeve Abbey. The first recorded rector was in 1317. The church underwent Victorian restoration in 1888.The church has a 96 feet (29 m) high tower, built in five stages, which dates from around 1491, The tower contains a heavy ring of six bells. While St Buryan in Cornwall is home to the heaviest ring of six bells by the weight of the tenor bell alone, Queen Camel is the heaviest six in the world by total weight (all the bells combined).The interior contains memorials to many of the Mildmay family, who were Lords of the manor. There is a wooden rood screen and octagonal stone font supported by four large carved supports.The churchyard contains a Commonwealth war grave of a Royal Navy seaman of World War I.The parish is part of the Cam Vale benefice, which includes Corton Denham, Sparkford, Sutton Montis, West Camel and Weston Bampfylde, within the Bruton and Cary deanery.

The Church of St Mary in Marston Magna, Somerset, England can date its origins to before the Norman Conquest, however the present building largely dates from around 1360, with further rebuilding in the 15th century. It has been designated as a grade I listed building.The church was held by Polsloe Priory, near Exeter from the 12th century until the dissolution of the monasteries.There are two small windows heads on each side of the central arch which remain from the Saxon church which once stood on the site, and the north wall, which includes herringbone masonry, and the font are Norman. The triple lancet east window dates from around 1230, although the glass is Victorian. The Lady Chapel is from the 15th century, as is the oak screen below the west gallery and rood screen.The three stage tower has a stair turret on the south east corner leading to the belfry, which is surmounted by battlements, crocheted pinnacles and gargoyles. The vestry in the base of the tower includes a clock by William Monk, who also made the clock in Sherborne Abbey, and dating from 1710. The bells were dedicated in 1912 when new land was added to the churchyard at the expense of the governors of Winchester College.

Hazlegrove House is a 17th-century Grade II listed building located in the parish of Queen Camel near Sparkford, Somerset, England. It was largely rebuilt by Carew Mildmay in 1730. After being used as a hospital facility during World War II, the house became the home of Hazlegrove Preparatory School in 1947. The house is set within 200 acres (0.81 km2) of parkland, with direct access to the A303 road. Due to school sports pitches and other developments, the parkland was threatened with being put on the Heritage at Risk Register. However, this has not yet occurred as of June 2019.The gardens and parkland are listed as Grade II on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
