The Briton's Protection is a historic, Grade II listed public house in Manchester, England. Various dates are given for its establishment; the pub's own website says 1806, although its bicentenary was not celebrated until 2011. In any case, it was listed in Pigot and Dean's New Directory of Manchester & Salford for 1821 and 1822.The pub's name recalls its use as an army recruiting venue. A set of murals inside the pub commemorates the Peterloo Massacre.The brick building, with a slate roof, was granted Grade II listed status, offering protection from unauthorised alteration or demolition, in 1990. The largely intact 1930s interior has six public rooms. Other notable architectural features include a terrazzo-tiled corridor floor, moulded ceiling, original 1930s urinals and the serving hatch through which people in the two rear rooms are served beer from the front bar.As well as serving real ale, it is known for offering over 360 whiskies. For many years, the pub was operated as a Tetley house, then by Punch Taverns, before being taken over in 2014 by an independent operator and refurbished. The pub was voted Best Pub in Manchester in the Pride of Manchester Awards in both 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.

AXIS (also known as the Axis Tower) is a residential tower in Manchester city centre, England. The tower has had two iterations, one as a stalled construction project which was cancelled due to the Great Recession in 2008, and the other as residential which was announced in 2014. When completed in 2019, Axis Tower became the seventh-tallest building in Greater Manchester until the completion of the Deansgate Square and Angel Gardens projects. As of March 2023, it is currently the 18th tallest.

The Castlefield corridor (also known as the Deansgate corridor) is a railway corridor between Castlefield junction and Fairfield Street junction in Greater Manchester, England. The corridor forms the eastern end of the southerly Liverpool–Manchester line. The route is recognised as a significant bottleneck, magnified further by the opening of the Ordsall Chord in 2017 and timetable change in May 2018 which increased the number of services through Manchester city centre from 12 to 15 trains per hour. This uplift in services had a detrimental impact on punctuality and reliability, ultimately playing a major factor in the failure of the Arriva Rail North franchise in 2020. As of August 2021, 12 trains per hour pass through the Castlefield corridor.

The statue of Friedrich Engels is a 12 ft (3.7 m) concrete statue of German philosopher Friedrich Engels currently located at Tony Wilson Place in Manchester, England. The Soviet-era statue depicts Engels in a standing pose with his arms crossed, and stands on a pedestal bearing the Cyrillic inscription "Ф. ЕНГЕЛЬС" ("F. ENGELS").

HOME is an arts centre, cinema and theatre complex in Manchester, England. Havelock Mills in central Manchester were built between 1820 and 1840. It was probably the largest surviving silk mill in the north-west region in the 1970s and had a unique combination of silk and cotton mills on one site. It was a landmark on the Rochdale Canal, overlooking Tib Lock, one of the Rochdale Nine.

Viadux is a mixed use development under construction in the Castlefield area of Manchester city centre, England. The first phase will comprise a 40-storey residential high-rise building; the second phase proposals, if approved, will include a 76-storey skyscraper and 23-storey building. When completed, at 139 metres (456 ft), the first phase residential building will be the ninth-tallest in Greater Manchester. It was designed by SimpsonHaugh, who also designed the adjacent Beetham Tower, which was completed in 2006.

Manchester Central railway station is a former railway station in Manchester city centre, England. One of Manchester's main railway terminals between 1880 and 1969, it has been converted into an exhibition and conference centre, originally known as G-MEX, but now named Manchester Central. The structure is a Grade II* listed building. On 27 March 2020, the UK government announced that the building would be converted into an emergency hospital, intended to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and with 1,000 beds.

Manchester Central Convention Complex (commonly known as Manchester Central or GMEX (Greater Manchester Exhibition Centre)) is an exhibition and conference centre converted from the former Manchester Central railway station in Manchester, England. The building has a distinctive arched roof with a span of 64 metres (210 ft) – the second-largest railway station roof span in the United Kingdom, and was granted Grade II* listed building status in 1963. After 89 years as a railway terminus, it closed to passengers in May 1969. It was renovated as an exhibition centre formerly known as the G-Mex Centre in 1982 and was Manchester's primary music concert venue until the construction of the Manchester Arena. After renovation the venue reverted to its former name Manchester Central in 2007. In 2020, the complex became a temporary field hospital for non-critical coronavirus patients, part of a network of temporary NHS Nightingale Hospitals.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital North West is the third of the temporary NHS Nightingale Hospitals set up by NHS England in 2020 to help to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

53two is a theatre located under in the Grade II* listed arches under Manchester Central Convention Centre in Manchester, England. It is part of the Greater Manchester Small Venues Network, alongside the Hope Mill Theatre, the Edge Theatre and the Kings Arms Theatre.

The Bridgewater Hall is a concert venue in Manchester city centre, England. It cost around £42 million to build in the 1990s, and hosts over 250 performances a year. It is home to the 165-year-old Hallé Orchestra as well as to the Hallé Choir and Hallé Youth Orchestra and it serves as the main concert venue for the BBC Philharmonic. The building sits on a bed of 280 springs intended to insulate it from external sound. The hall is named after the Third Duke of Bridgewater who commissioned the eponymous Bridgewater Canal that crosses Manchester, although the hall and waterside frontage is situated on a specially constructed arm of the Rochdale Canal.
