Bestwina

Gmina Bestwina is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Bestwina, which lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) north of Bielsko-Biała and 40 km (25 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of 37.55 square kilometres (14.5 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 11,816.

Stara Wieś (Polish pronunciation: [ˈstara vʲɛɕ], lit. 'Old Village') is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wilamowice, within Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Janowice [janɔˈvit͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bestwina, within Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) south-east of Bestwina, 6 km (4 mi) north of Bielsko-Biała, and 42 km (26 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice.

Komorowice (German: Batzdorf) is the northernmost part of Bielsko-Biała, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It is located on both banks of the Biała River, the historical border river between Silesia and Lesser Poland, and from the mid-15th century to 1772, also the states of Poland and Bohemia (from 1526 part of the Habsburg monarchy). Komorowice is an informal dzielnica (a form of district). Since 2002 it consists of two osiedla (auxiliary units, Polish: jednostki pomocnicze), which have a combined area of 15.3117 km2 (Komorowice Krakowskie: 9.6152 km2, Komorowice Śląskie: 5.6995 km2) and on December 31, 2006 had altogether 10,112 inhabitants (7,778 in Komorowice Krakowskie, 2,334 in Komorowice Śląskie).The name of the village is derived from personal name Komor locally meaning also a mosquito (Polish: komar, German: Mücke, hence Mückendorf).

Hałcnów is an osiedle (district) of Bielsko-Biała, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It is located in the north-east part of the city. It was a separate municipality, but was merged into Bielsko-Biała in 1977. The osiedle has an area of 13.5091 km2 and on December 31, 2006 had 7,747 inhabitants.

Bielsko-Biała Główna railway station is a railway station in Bielsko-Biała (Silesian Voivodeship), Poland. As of 2022, it is served by Polregio (local and InterRegio services), Koleje Śląskie (local services) and PKP Intercity (EIP, InterCity, and TLK services). The station serves as a southern terminus of Express Intercity Premuim (EIP) services, the highest speed rail services in Poland, connecting to Warsaw, as well as to Gdansk-Gdynia.

Silesian Foothills (Polish: Pogórze Śląskie, Czech: Slezské podhůří, Silesian: Pogōrze Ślōnske) are foothills located in Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It has an area of 545 km2. Its western border is Olza river, eastern Skawa. Other main rivers that cut the foothills are from west to east: Vistula, Biała and Soła. To the south are Silesian Beskids and Little Beskids, in north it converts into Ostrava Basin and Oświęcim Basin. The towns located on the foothills are: Cieszyn, Skoczów, Bielsko-Biała, Kęty, Andrychów and Wadowice.

The Diocese of Bielsko–Żywiec (Latin: Dioecesis Bielscensis-Zyviecensis) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church located in the cities of Bielsko and Żywiec in the ecclesiastical province of Kraków in Poland. It was established as the Diocese of Bielsko–Żywiec from the Diocese of Katowice and Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kraków on 25 March 1992. In 2013 about a half of the then Catholic Church members attended church services at least once per week.

Sfera is the largest mall in Bielsko-Biała, Poland housing about 120 shops, music club, cinema (Helios) and supermarket. Area: 38000 square meters. The first phase of Sfera was opened on 6 December 2001 at the site of several former textile factories, and in 2009 Sfera was connected with Sfera 2 and the area was enlarged to over 130000 square meters. In 2011, a monument to Bolek and Lolek was erected outside the mall.

Frog House (Polish: kamienica Pod Żabami) is an example of Art Nouveau architecture in the city of Bielsko-Biała, in southern Poland's Silesia Province. It features two frogs seated over the entrance, one smoking a pipe and the other playing a mandolin, while beetles roam freely over the walls. The Frog House stands on Bielsko-Biała's Polish Army Square (plac Wojska Polskiego).

Galeria Bielska BWA is a municipal art gallery of Bielsko-Biała, Poland, dedicated to the contemporary art. It carries out exhibition, publishing, documentary and educational activities. It is the organiser of the Painting Biennale Bielsko Autumn (Bielska Jesień) and the Bielsko-Biała Visual Arts Festival (Bielski Festiwal Sztuk Wizualnych).The main seat of the gallery is the building at 11, 3 Maja Street. It was built in 1960 as the Pavilion of the Visual Artists (Pawilon Plastyków) in the place of the Bielsko Synagogue destroyed by Nazis. The Pavillion hosted exhibitions of the local branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. Between 1970 and 1975, it housed a branch of the Katowice Art Exhibition Office (Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych, abbreviated as BWA), which was transformed into an independent institution after the establishment of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship. In 1989, the building was expanded to its present form, with a second floor with a new exhibition hall (currently there are two with a total area of 400 m²), a café with a glass corner elevation (currently the Aquarium clubhouse), new offices and warehouses. In 1994, the facility was taken over by the local government of Bielsko-Biała and was given its current name. Since 2020, the gallery has also used rooms in the historic villa of Theodor Sixt (at 24 Mickiewicza Street), where e.g. an exhibition of selected works from the permanent collection is presented, which totals (as of January 2022) 1,073 works.
