Isle of Normandy

Normandy Isles Historic District is a U.S. Historic District encompassing the Normandy Isles neighborhood of Miami Beach, Florida. It is roughly bounded by the Normandy Shores Golf Course, Indian Creek, Biscayne Bay, Rue Versailles, 71st Street, and Rue Notre Dame. On November 12, 2008, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

La Gorce Island is an island within the city of Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located in Biscayne Bay in the La Gorce neighborhood, in the area of the city referred to as North Beach. The island and surrounding La Gorce neighborhood were named after Miami Beach developer Carl Fisher’s close friend, John Oliver La Gorce, a renowned explorer, author, and president of the National Geographic Society.

Normandy Shores is an island and neighborhood within the city of Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located just west of the main island that the city occupies, in the area of the city referred to as North Beach. It is located just north of and separated from the Isle of Normandy by a canal. A bridge connects the two islands.

Shore Apartments (formally known as “The Shore”) is a historical modernist landmark on Indian Creek in the Normandy Isles neighborhood of North Miami Beach, United States. It was designed by B. Robert Swartburg in 1948 for Maurice Gusman and opened on January 9, 1949. The building is a contributing property to the Normandy Isles Historic District. The building's modern architecture featuring distinct Art Deco and Streamline elements of MiMo architectural style earned it listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.In 1995 the building was converted into a condominium and incorporated as a non-profit Bay Drive Condo Association, Inc.

North Beach is a neighborhood of the city of Miami Beach, Florida. It is the northernmost section of the city, roughly bound by 63rd Street and Indian Creek Drive to the south and 87th Terrace to the north. It collectively refers to neighborhoods including Isles of Normandy, Biscayne Point, and La Gorce. According to the 2013 census, North Beach is home to more than 43,250 people of which 49.9% are foreign born persons. 65.5% speak languages other than English at home. The median household income in North Beach is estimated to be $40,775 between 2009 and 2013. The total estimated land area of North Beach is estimated to be 4.83 square miles, with a population density of approximately 8,602.2 people per square mile according to the 2010 census. Public transportation includes the North Beach Loop of Miami Beach's road trolley system.

The North Shore Historic District is a historic district in North Beach, Miami Beach, Florida, United States. The district is roughly bounded by 87th Street, Collins Avenue, 73rd Street, and Hawthorne Avenue. The architecture in the district is primarily of the Miami Modernism style, unique to greater Miami. Other architectural styles are reflected in the district, including Mediterranean Revival, Art Deco, and Moderne.

Allison Island is an island within the city of Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located inside the Indian Creek waterway in the La Gorce neighborhood, in the area of the city referred to as North Beach.

Biscayne Point is a neighborhood of North Beach in the city of Miami Beach, Florida. It is located just west of the main island that the city occupies, in the area of the city referred to as North Beach. It is actually on three islands, just north of Normandy Shores. Bridges connect the three islands which are accessible from 77th Street and from 85th Street by vehicles and from a pedestrian bridge at 80th Street.Two public parks are available. The northern one is Stillwater Park and the southern is Crespi Park.

Thee Image Club was a music venue located at 18330 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, Florida. Owned and operated by Marshall Brevetz, the club opened in 1968. Initially called Thee Experience before it moved to a site which had been previously occupied by a 32 lane bowling alley known as the Sunny Isles Bowling Center. The club consisted of a big open ballroom floor with three stages, a meditation room, and black lights. Several famous rock bands and musicians performed at the club in the late 1960s, including The Grateful Dead, The Mothers of Invention, NRBQ, Led Zeppelin, Fantasy, The Jeff Beck Group, The Doors, Canned Heat, Blues Image and Steppenwolf. Tiny Tim also performed there at the height of his popularity. The building was only in operation as a music club for a few years before being closed and demolished. The site is now occupied by Publix Supermarket.

Tambourine Room is a Michelin-starred Asian restaurant in Miami, Florida. Timo Steubing is the head chef. The 18-seat, tasting menu-only restaurant operates at the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort.

The Deauville Beach Resort at 6701 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33141, was a celebrated beachfront hotel on Miami Beach. Built in the MiMo style in 1957, it was designed by Melvin Grossman.The Beatles played their second Ed Sullivan Show appearance at the hotel on February 16, 1964.Alex Meruelo is the de facto owner of the historical hotel. Following an electrical fire that closed the hotel in 2017, Meruelo has been embroiled in a public controversy, being accused of deliberately allowing the building to fall into disrepair so it could be demolished for development. A limited liability company associated with him has been fined multiple times by the City of Miami Beach for such violations. In early 2022, the LLC filed papers for demolition. Local activists and preservationists unsuccessfully petitioned to try to save the hotel from destruction.The Deauville Beach Resort's 17-story hotel tower was imploded on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Apparently the Napoleon Ballroom, where The Beatles had played is the last part of the hotel remaining and is soon to be demolished.It is currently unknown what will be replacing the hotel. The owner of the Miami Dolphins, Stephen M. Ross, had plans to purchase the property and build two towers on the site, one hotel and one luxury condominium. But due to the planned towers exceeding current city height codes, the proposal placed on the November 8, 2022 ballot, was voted against by residents.

The Carillon Hotel & Spa, and the Carillon Residences, formerly known as Canyon Ranch Miami Beach, is a complex of three high rise luxury condominiums in North Beach, Miami Beach, Florida, United States. It is located on the beachfront on the east side of Collins Avenue between 68th and 69th Streets. The Carillon Hotel & Spa complex includes The Carillon Hotel & Spa North Tower, the 20 floor The Carillon Hotel & Spa South Tower, The Carillon Hotel building located between The Carillon Hotel & Spa Towers on Collins Avenue, as well as the proposed Golden Sands Canyon Ranch proposed to be built north of The Carillon Hotel & Spa North Tower. The old Golden Sands Hotel and Lounge is being demolished to make way for the new Golden Sands building. The 15-story Carillion Hotel building was built in 1955 but was vacant for 15 years until it was renovated in 2007 and became part of the Canyon Ranch complex. The 22 floor The Carillon Hotel & Spa South Tower is 257 feet (78 meters) tall and was completed in 2008. The tallest building, the north tower of The Carillon Hotel & Spa is 37 floors and 121 meters (397 feet) tall, was completed in 2008 and is one of the tallest buildings in Miami Beach. The Carillon Hotel & Spa North Tower looks like two separate, connected towers, but both are the North Tower building.
