Schenley Bridge connects Schenley Plaza to Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It carries Schenley Drive between The Carnegie Institute and The Henry Clay Frick Fine Arts Building over Junction Hollow to Frew Street and Flagstaff Hill. In the city's Oakland district, the bridge is part of an entrance into the park. It spans 620 feet and arches 120 feet above the hollow. Erected in 1897, it replaced a temporary structure by the same name dating from 1890, a year after the park opened. In 1890, the year after Pittsburgh received the land for Schenley Park, a temporary trestle was constructed across Junction Hollow. The present Schenley Bridge replaced this structure in 1897. One of the original plans was to remove the temporary trestle and re-erect it over Panther Hollow. It has been speculated that the fire that destroyed the Schenley Park Casino near the temporary bridge was also a factor leading to the erection of a wholly new bridge at Panther Hollow.

The Carnegie International is the oldest North American exhibition of contemporary art from around the globe. It was first organized at the behest of industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie on November 5, 1896 in Pittsburgh. Carnegie established the International to educate and inspire the public as well as to promote international cooperation and understanding. He intended the International to provide a periodic sample of contemporary art from which Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museum of Art could enrich its permanent collection. The work of thousands of artists has been exhibited in the Carnegie International, including that of Winslow Homer, Salvador Dalí, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Mary Cassatt, Camille Pissarro, Auguste Rodin, Hermenegildo Anglada Camarasa, Willem de Kooning, Henry Moore, Jackson Pollock, René Magritte, Joan Miró, Alberto Giacometti, Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys, Sigmar Polke, and William Kentridge.

The Carnegie Museum of Art is an art museum in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally known as the Department of Fine Arts, Carnegie Institute, and was located at what is now the Main Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. The museum's first gallery was opened for public use on November 5, 1895. Over the years, the gallery vastly increased in size, with a new building on Forbes Avenue built in 1907. In 1963, the name was officially changed to Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute. The size of the gallery has tripled over time, and it was officially renamed in 1986 to "Carnegie Museum of Art" to indicate it clearly as one of the four Carnegie Museums.

The Pittsburgh Photographic Library (PPL) is a photography repository held by the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh of over 50,000 prints and negatives relating to history of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It is also the name of the core collection of roughly 18,000 photographs, which were taken from 1950-1953 as a documentation project headed by Roy Stryker, and which subsequently gave the current repository its name. PPL (People) was the brainchild of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, a Pittsburgh regional planning association launched in 1944 to rebuild and clean up the notorious Smokey City. The Allegheny Conference hired Roy Stryker in 1950 to record the city before its famous urban renewal, dubbed Renaissance I, and to shoot positive images of the "progress" for national consumption. Stryker hired professional photographers and directed the project, based at the University of Pittsburgh. Stryker used such photographers as James Blair, Esther Bubley, Harold Corsini, Elliott Erwitt, Clyde Hare, Russell Lee, Sol Libsohn, and Richard Saunders. The project effectively ended in 1953, though it did continue for several more years under the direction of Marshall Stalley, and then was phased out in the late 1950s. The Library of Congress initially wanted to house PPL, but it was transferred to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in June 1960.

Junction Hollow is a small wooded valley bordering the west flanks of Schenley Park and the campus of Carnegie Mellon University and the southern edge of the University of Pittsburgh's campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 150-foot-deep (46 m) valley runs south to north approximately 2+1⁄2 miles (4.0 km). It begins where Four Mile Run empties into the Monongahela River and runs through the neighborhood of Four Mile Run north into Oakland along Schenley Park, Carnegie Mellon, and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, and ends at Neville Street behind Central Catholic High School. Junction Hollow is often confused for Panther Hollow, which at Panther Hollow Lake veers off from it to the northeast into the park.

The Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a degree-granting institution, one of five divisions of Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts. It succeeds the Department of Architecture founded by Henry Hornbostle in 1906, the architect who designed the original campus. It continues to offer a five–year undergraduate first professional Bachelor of Architecture degree, and a two to three–year graduate Master of Architecture first professional degree. The School of Architecture's slogan is 'Where Art and Technology Meet Practice', and the current head of the school is Omar Kahn.

The Henry Clay Frick Fine Arts Building is a landmark Renaissance villa and a contributing property to the Schenley Farms-Oakland Civic Historic District on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The Frick Fine Arts Building sits on the southern edge of Schenley Plaza, opposite The Carnegie Institute, and is the home of Pitt's History of Art and Architecture Department, Studio Arts Department, and the Frick Fine Arts Library. Before its front steps is Mary Schenley Memorial Fountain.

The Schenley Park Casino was Pittsburgh’s first multi-purpose arena. The facility was considered the envy of the sports and entertainment world during the early 1890s, with amenities that were unsurpassed anywhere on the globe. It was built at the entrance to Schenley Park in Oakland near the Phipps Conservatory, the Schenley Bridge and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh’s Frick Fine Arts Building currently sits on the site of the casino. The casino was the first place in Pittsburgh where organized ice hockey was played. The arena's artificial ice surface was the first of its kind in North America.
