Glasbury

Three Cocks or Aberllynfi (Welsh: [ˌabɛrˈɬənvi]) is a village near Glasbury in Powys, Wales. The Welsh name refers to the mouth of the Afon Llynfi which enters the River Wye a mile from the village. The nearest town is Hay-on-Wye some 5 miles (8.5 km) to the northeast.

The Church of St Peter (and St Cynidr) is located outside the Welsh village of Glasbury and dates back to the sixth century. Near the confluence of the rivers Wye and Llynfi, the church has experienced serious flooding which has required it to be rebuilt twice, in 1665 and 1838. The current church is designated a Grade II listed building and is open to the public for worship.

Glasbury-on-Wye railway station was a station at Glasbury, Powys, Wales. The station closed in 1962.During the station's life it was in Breconshire, whereas the village it served was across the Wye in Radnorshire. Both counties were taken into Powys after the station closed.

The Afon Llynfi is a short river in the county of Powys, south Wales. A tributary of the River Wye, it runs approximately south to north just to the west of the Black Mountains and partly within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Gwernyfed High School is a high school in the village of Three Cocks, Brecon, Powys, Wales. The school is an English-medium school educating students between 11 and 19 years old from a mainly rural catchment area. It first opened as a school in 1950, previously being open as a munitions factory during World War 2. It currently has around 500 pupils. Founded in 1972, the school is housed in a Grade II listed Victorian mansion, Gwernyfed Park, which was designed by renowned architect William Eden Nesfield. With a rich history dating back to the Iron Age, the school is situated on a historic site that has been home to Welsh princes and landed gentry. There is a modern block which also accommodates classrooms and a drama studio. There is a building commissioned in 2008 which provides a dining hall and sports facilities. There are several acres of sports fields including rugby pitches, football and hockey pitches, athletics track, hardcourts and astro pitches. The grounds include listed rose gardens, orchards, pond and wildlife area and a stream. In 2023 the school was introduced to a new head teacher, Mrs Kirsty Retallik. She has implemented some more logos throughout the school with boards of inspirational quotes and saying, she also hopes to reconnect the students with a new library as the school has been without one since 2022 when it became the classroom for the geography teacher. Gwernyfed High School is situated in a rural location between the towns of Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth in the county of Powys, Wales and is located very close to the border with England. The school's catchment area spans across a wide rural region, encompassing small villages and hamlets in the surrounding countryside.

Maesyronnen Chapel is about 1 mile (2 km) north of the village of Glasbury, Powys, Wales (grid reference SO176410). It is designated by Cadw as a Grade I listed building. The chapel is one of the earliest Nonconformist chapels to be built in Wales, and is the only chapel existing from that time to be largely unchanged and still in use as a chapel. It is currently administered by the United Reformed Church. The attached ccaretaker's cottage is also listed at Grade I.

Pipton is a small settlement and former civil parish (or community) in Powys, Wales on the Afon Llynfi near its confluence with the River Wye. It was formerly in the county of Brecknockshire and is now part of the community of Bronllys. The nearest town is Hay-on-Wye some 5 miles (8.0 km) to the east.

Three Cocks Junction railway station (colloquially as Lucky Man Junction) was a station in Three Cocks, Powys, Wales. The station closed in 1962. The station had a signal box.

Llowes is a small village in the community of Glasbury, Powys, Wales. The village has approximately 110 inhabitants (2005). The nearest town is Hay-on-Wye, some 3 miles (5 km) to the south-east.

Gwernyfed is a community in Powys, Wales, centred on the village of Aberllynfi. It takes its name from Gwernyfed Park, a medieval deer park within the community. The community of Gwernyfed was established in 1985 through the merger of the former Aberllynfi community, the greater part of the former Tre-goed & Felindre community, and small parts of the Bronllys and former Llanelieu communities. It includes the villages of Aberllynfi (Three Cocks) and Felindre, Powys, the Breconshire half of the village of Glasbury, and the rural settlements of Tre-goed (Tregoyd) and Pont Ithel. The population in 2011 was 1049, represented by 10 councillors in a single ward.

Boughrood Brest (Welsh Brest Bochrwyd) is a settlement in Glasbury-on-Wye, Powys, Wales, which is 39 miles (62 km) from Cardiff and 138 miles (222 km) from London. It lies close to the banks of the River Wye, between Boughrood itself and Glasbury.

The farm at Great Porthamel, at Talgarth in Powys, Wales, comprises a range of buildings including the farmhouse, the gate tower and an agricultural building. They form the remnants of a major medieval manor that was the principal seat of the Vaughan family. The complex has been described as "one of the more remarkable mediaeval houses of Wales". The gatehouse is a Grade I listed building, and a scheduled monument, while the farmhouse is listed at Grade II* and the agricultural building at Grade II.
