Lough Neagh Rescue

Oxford Island is a National Nature Reserve and public recreation site on the southern shores of Lough Neagh at Lurgan, County Armagh. The site covers 282 acres (113 hectares) and is owned and maintained by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. Much of the area is designated as a National Nature Reserve due to its wide variety of natural habitats. The purpose of all work on the island is to maintain biodiversity and to provide a recreation area for everyone.

The 1990 Lough Neagh ambush was a gun attack carried out by the Provisional IRA on 10 November 1990 at Castor Bay, near Morrows Point, Lough Neagh, County Armagh, Northern Ireland targeting members of the security forces involved in a waterfowl hunting trip with other two men at the time. An active service unit of the IRA's North Armagh Brigade shot dead a Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) Inspector, an RUC Reservist, a former Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) soldier and one civilian. Some members of the wildfowling party struggled with their attackers, and one of the constables returned fire before being killed.

Aghacommon (from Irish Achadh Camán) is a small village and townland in north County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It lies between Derrymacash (to the northwest), Lurgan (to the east) and Craigavon (to the south). The M1 motorway and Dublin–Belfast railway line are on either side. The village covers the townlands of Aghacommon and Ballynamony. The village is often confused with its better known neighbouring townland Derrymacash. Aghacommon has a Catholic church and primary school, both named for Saint Patrick. At the southern edge of the village is Craigavon lakes and Tannaghmore Animal Farm. The animal farm, which is open to the public, holds rare and endangered farm animals that were once widespread in Ulster. There is a farming museum on the site.

Clan na Gael Gaelic Athletic Club (Irish: CLG Clan na Gael) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the town of Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The club's pitch, Davitt Park, is named in honour of Michael Davitt, also the original club name.

St Ronan's College (Irish: Colaiste Naomh Ronan) is a voluntary grammar school located in Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

Upper Bann (Irish: An Bhanna Uachtarach, Ulster Scots: Ower Bann) is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996. Since 1998, it has elected members to the current Assembly. For Assembly elections prior to 1996, the constituency was largely part of the Armagh and South Down constituencies with a small section around Aghagallon joining from South Antrim. Since 1997, it has shared boundaries with the Upper Bann UK Parliament constituency. Clann Éireann GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lurgan, in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Clann Éireann GAC, part of Armagh GAA, incorporates a youth club. With a total membership of 1,500, the youth club and GAC provide a wide range of sporting, social and developmental activities throughout the year. The GAC provides Gaelic football and handball for boys and girls of all age groups from under 8s to senior level.

Lurgan (from Irish An Lorgain, meaning 'the long low ridge') is a town in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, near the southern shore of Lough Neagh. Lurgan is about 18 miles (29 km) south-west of Belfast and is linked to the city by both the M1 motorway and the Belfast–Dublin railway line. It had a population of about 28,634 (38,198 District Area) at the 2021 UK census and is within the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon district. For some purposes, Lurgan is treated as part of the "Craigavon Urban Area" along with neighbouring Craigavon and Portadown. Lurgan is characteristic of many Plantation of Ulster settlements, with its straight, wide planned streets. It is the site of a number of historic listed buildings including Brownlow House and Lurgan Town Hall. Lurgan Park is the largest urban park in Northern Ireland.Historically the town was known as a major centre for the production of textiles (mainly linen) after the Industrial Revolution, and it continued to be a major producer of textiles until that industry steadily declined in the late 20th century. The development of the 'new city' of Craigavon had a major impact on Lurgan in the 1960s when much industry was attracted to the area.

Derrymacash (from Irish Doire Mhic Cais, meaning 'Oakgrove of MacCash') is a small village and townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is about four miles west of Lurgan, between the M1 motorway and Lough Neagh. It had a population of 629 in the 2001 Census.A Catholic church and primary school (both called St Patrick's) are in neighbouring Aghacommon. Many people mistake the townlands of Derrymacash and Aghacommon. Derrymacash starts after one crosses the Closet River, just beyond the M1 bridge, heading towards Lough Neagh.
