Side Cut Metropark is a regional park in Maumee, Ohio, owned and managed by Metroparks Toledo and named for being a sidecut on the Miami and Erie Canal. The sidecut was built over an 18-year period in the nineteenth century and completed in 1842, opening to boat traffic the following year. It closed in 1850 after being bypassed by an extension of the main canal. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.It features Bluegrass Island, a popular fishing destination. Obtained from the state of Ohio in the 1920s, Side Cut was the original metropark.

Maumee ( maw-MEE) is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. Located along the Maumee River, it is a suburb about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Toledo. The population was 13,896 at the 2020 census. Maumee was declared an All-America City by the National Civic League in June 2006.

First Presbyterian Church of Maumee Chapel (also known as First Presbyterian Church of Maumee) is a historic church at 200 E. Broadway in Maumee, Ohio. It is the oldest church building in Northwest Ohio.The Greek Revival church building was constructed in 1837 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

McLaren St. Luke's Hospital was a non-profit hospital in Maumee, Ohio, operated by McLaren Health Care Corporation. McLaren announced it expected St. Luke's to wind down operations by mid-May, 2023 with assets being purchased by Mercy Health. The hospital officially closed on Monday, May 8, 2023. As of 4:00 PM local time on the day of closure, the McLaren St. Luke's website redirected to Mercy Perrysburg Hospital's website.

Fort Meigs was a United States fortification along the Maumee River in what is now Perrysburg, Ohio during the War of 1812. The British Army, supported by Tecumseh's Confederacy, failed to capture the fort during the siege of Fort Meigs. It is named in honor of Ohio governor Return J. Meigs Jr., for his support in providing General William Henry Harrison with militia and supplies for the line of forts along the Old Northwest frontier.

Governor's Inn is a historic inn at Maumee, Ohio, United States. It was built in 1836 by Levi Beebe. Before it served as an inn, the building was named the Commercial Building and held local stores and a post office. When the Miami and Erie Canal opened, it became a lodge for canal and stagecoach travelers. The inn went by many names before the Governor's Inn, including the Neely House, the Eagle, the Schieley House, the Bismark, the Seurin Hotel, the Langley Inn, and the Old Plantation Inn. It is now home to a whisky bar. In 1974, the Governor's Inn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, qualifying because of its historically significant architecture. It was the fifth place in Maumee to receive this designation.

The siege of Fort Meigs took place in late April to early May 1813 during the War of 1812 in northwestern Ohio, present-day Perrysburg. A small British Army unit with support from Indians attempted to capture the recently constructed fort to forestall an American offensive against Detroit, and its Fort Detroit in the Great Lakes region which the British from the north in Canada had captured the previous year. An American sortie and relief attempt failed with heavy casualties, but the British failed to capture the fort and were forced to raise the siege.

The Hull–Wolcott House is an historic building in Maumee, Ohio. Named for James Wolcott, a businessman in the late 1820s to the mid-1840s, only the Wolcott House is original to the site. Built by James Wolcott and his wife, Mary Wells, the Wolcott House began as a log house and evolved into a 14-room Federal-style mansion between 1827 and 1836. The house is a blend of federal and classic architecture. In 1826, James Wolcott and his Mary moved to Maumee. They purchased 300 acres for $1.25 an acre in 1827 and began construction of their home. Wolcott built wharves and warehouses on the Maumee River and constructed two steamships to transport his merchandise. . James and Mary Wolcott had five sons and a daughter. The house passed through three generations to Wolcott's great-granddaughter, Rilla Hull, who was the last of the Wolcott line to reside in the "Mansion on the Maumee". Upon her death in 1957, Hull bequeathed her home for public use and benefit. St. Paul's Episcopal Church transferred the landmark to the City of Maumee for use as a historical museum. Maumee High School is a public high school in Maumee, Ohio, southwest of Toledo. It is the only high school in the Maumee City School District. Their mascot and sports teams are known as the "Maumee Panthers". They are members of the Northern Lakes League and their rivals are Perrysburg Yellow Jackets and Anthony Wayne Generals. Maumee High School is one of only four high schools that have a Heisman Trophy on display, donated by alum Richard Kazmaier, who won it while at Princeton University.

Ned Skeldon Stadium, originally opened as Lucas County Stadium, was a baseball stadium in Maumee, Ohio. It was primarily used for baseball, and was the home field of the Toledo Mud Hens minor league baseball team. It opened for minor league ball in 1965, and closed for the minors in 2002 when the Mud Hens moved to Fifth Third Field. It held 10,197 people. The stadium replaced Swayne Field, which had been demolished after the previous version of the Mud Hens had folded ten years earlier. Prior to 1965, the ballpark was the racetrack of the Lucas County fairgrounds, a.k.a. Fort Miami Fairgrounds, as far back as 1902. Public official Ned Skeldon persuaded area businessmen to sponsor conversion of the stadium for use as a ballpark, for the purpose of reviving the Mud Hens. The racetrack stands were converted into the third-base stands, and additional seating was constructed around the home plate and first base sides, also suites were added that were called "The Diamond Club". The whole area was redeveloped as the Lucas County Recreation Center. The scoreboard at "The Ned" was an old Fair Play Scoreboards model with a small four line message board along the bottom in monochrome that would run small (under 20 frame) animations and text throughout the game. Lucas County Stadium would be the home of the Mud Hens for 37 years. In 1988 the stadium was renamed in honor of Skeldon, a few months before his death. The ballpark is maintained as part of the Lucas County Recreational Center Complex, and continues to be used for amateur baseball. In 2022 Lucas County approved the demolition of the stadium. The Stadium was Demolished in March of 2023. The photo source in the external links calls the Toledo club "Corporal Klinger's favorite team". The team's predecessor during the Korean War played at Swayne Field.
