William Knox Schroeder (; July 20, 1950 – May 4, 1970) was a student at Kent State University, Ohio, when he was killed by Ohio National Guardsmen in the Kent State shootings.

Ravenna Township is one of the eighteen civil townships of Portage County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 8,980 people in the township.

Ravenna is a city in and the county seat of Portage County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,323 in the 2020 census. It is located 15 miles (24 km) east of Akron. Formed from portions of Ravenna Township in the Connecticut Western Reserve, Ravenna was founded in 1799 and is named after the city of Ravenna, Italy. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area.

Black Horse, also spelled Blackhorse, is an unincorporated community in Portage County, Ohio, United States, located in western Ravenna Township. It is centered along Ohio State Route 59 at its intersection with Brady Lake Road, just west of the city limits of Ravenna. The community takes its name from the Black Horse Tavern, which was located on the north side of modern-day State Route 59 for much of the 19th century. During the early settlement of the Connecticut Western Reserve, the tavern was a regular stop for stagecoaches heading west towards Kent, Cuyahoga Falls, and Akron as it was located at a fork in the trail. The tavern was built by David Greer, an early settler of Ravenna, sometime after his arrival in 1810. He operated it until 1834, when he sold it to a man named Backus, who is responsible to giving the tavern its name. The Black Horse name is believed to originate from one of two taverns of the same name in Massachusetts, either in Marlborough or Concord.The tavern operated until 1894, when township residents voted to outlaw taverns and saloons, and around 1900, the building burned down. A new Black Horse Tavern was built on the south side of the road, a building that stood until 2014. The area was nearly renamed "Five Corners" in 1915, in reference to the intersection of modern-day State Route 59, Brady Lake Road, Wall Street, and Hoover Road, which was then the northern end of Lakewood Road. The change was opposed by several residents and the Ravenna Republican.

Portage County Airport (ICAO: KPOV, FAA LID: POV, formerly 29G), also known as Portage County Regional Airport, is a public use airport in Portage County, Ohio, United States. It is owned by the Portage County Airport Authority and located three nautical miles (6 km) north of Ravenna, in Shalersville Township. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.This airport is assigned a three-letter location identifier of POV by the Federal Aviation Administration, but it does not have an International Air Transport Association (IATA) airport code (the IATA assigned POV to Prešov Airport in Slovakia). The airport's former FAA identifier was 29G.

The Midway Drive-In Theater near Ravenna, Ohio, United States is one of two drive-ins operated by John Knepp. Originally built in 1955 by famed drive-in architect Jack K. Vogel, the drive-in was one of the last drive-ins standing with a Vogel screentower. It is named for being located in western Ravenna Township "midway" between the cities of Ravenna to the east and Kent to the west along Ohio State Route 59.The theater was designed, built, and operated by the Vogel family. A second screentower was added at the back of the lot to make it a twin drive-in. It was sold to Knepp in the early 1990s. From the beginning, the theater featured a rounded blue screentower. The original drawing of the screentower was one of several Vogel designs featured in The American Drive-In Movie Theater book by Don and Susan Sanders (see References section). Of the designs featured in the book, the Midway in Ravenna was the only standing example.The original screentower was destroyed by a winter storm in December 2000. The screentower was demolished and replaced with a standard-issue Selby Screentower in time for the 2001 season. A display case in the concession stand includes memorabilia including photos of the original screentower.

Triangle Lake Bog or Triangle Lake Bog State Nature Preserve is a 61-acre (25 ha) state nature preserve in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located in Rootstown Township, south of Ravenna.

Brady Lake is an unincorporated census-designated place and former village in Portage County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,222 at the 2020 census. Incorporated in 1927, it originally developed as an amusement park and summer resort that opened in 1891. It was formed from a small portion of Franklin Township and became fully independent of the township in 1993. The village was named after the lake it borders, Brady Lake, which in turn was named for Captain Samuel Brady, who hid in the lake around 1780 while being pursued by a band of local Native Americans.Residents voted to dissolve the village on May 2, 2017, and the area was again made part of Franklin Township. In 2019, the United States Census Bureau created the Brady Lake census-designated place (CDP), an area that includes the entire former village as well as the immediate surrounding area. The CDP is part of the Akron metropolitan area.

Brady Lake is a natural lake in Portage County, Ohio, United States. It is a kettle lake and has no natural tributaries or outlets. The lake is located Franklin Township, approximately one mile (1.6 km) east of the Kent city limits with the unincorporated area of Brady Lake surrounding the lake. From 1927 to 2017, the areas along the eastern and southern shores were part of the village of Brady Lake.

Shalersville Township is one of the eighteen townships of Portage County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 5,245 people in the township.

Rootstown High School is a public high school in Rootstown, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Rootstown Local School District. Their nickname is the Rovers.
