Berkley, Michigan

The Berkley Theater was a small-town movie palace located on the north side of West 12 Mile Road at the corner of Robina Road in downtown Berkley, Michigan. The theater specialized in mainstream movies and was in operation for 52 continuous years until its closure in 1993, when it was converted into a Rite Aid drug store. The building is a historical landmark and the city has retained the theater's marquee to post community events. It serves as a backdrop for events such as the Berkley CruiseFest, a classic car parade and the Friday night precursor to Metro Detroit's annual Woodward Dream Cruise. The single screen auditorium originally had 978 seats and featured first-run double-bill movies. Starting in the 1970s, it became a discount theater showing second-run movies at low prices with the moniker "A Dollar At All Times". In its final years of operation, it showed a mixture of first-run and recently released films.

Berkley High School is a public high school in Berkley, Michigan. Berkley High's colors are maroon and blue and the school's mascot is a bear. Berkley is well known for its college prep courses, high standardized test scores, and teachers and administrators. BHS offers 20+ Advanced Placement courses at its campus. Additional Advanced Placement courses and electives are available to students who elect to attend the Center for Advanced Studies and the Arts (CASA), an afternoon consortium school run jointly by Berkley and six neighboring school districts, or the Oakland Schools Technical Campus (OSTC), a vocational education center run by Oakland Schools. Their newspaper is The Spectator, which is a member of the High School National Ad Network. Berkley's graduation ceremony is held annually at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre. The principal is Andrew Meloche and the assistant principals are Meredith Julius & Evelyn Coleman. Originally established in 1922, the first Berkley High building was on the northwest corner of Berkley Avenue & Catalpa Drive which was demolished in 1980, although portions of the building saved from demolition now serve as the robotics facility and district maintenance shop. The current BHS campus opened in 1948 with 8 classrooms, and has expanded several times since. In 1949 a new classroom and vocational wing were added, 1955 brought another wing and a library/cafeteria. 1961 added a third wing of 18 new classrooms and two music rooms and in 1975 the Loren Disbrow Athletic Complex was added which included a new larger gym which serves as the Bears’ basketball arena. In 1987 the 800-seat Berkley Auditorium was opened as a hub for the schools many performing arts. 2003 brought the addition of the collaborative center which serves as a multi-purpose space. A major renovation occurred in 2016 and 2017 where the school was updated with new technology and building systems and a new main office vestibule. Berkley High School has been accredited by the Michigan North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement since the 1928–29 school year.As of the 2012–13 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,250 students and 74.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 18.1.Berkley High School was named to Newsweek’s 2013 list of 2,000 Best High Schools in the nation—ranked 22nd in Michigan. This ranking highlights the schools that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready graduates. BHS has been on the Newsweek Best High Schools list since 2008. The high school scored above state averages in all MME/ACT categories in 2013.

The National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica Catholic Church is a Catholic church in Royal Oak, Michigan. A designated national shrine, the church building is well-known for its execution in the lavish zig-zag Art Deco style. The structure was completed in two stages between 1931 and 1936. The sanctuary, at 2100 West Twelve Mile Road at the northeast corner of Woodward Avenue, is a parish of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Its construction was funded by the proceeds of the radio ministry of the controversial Father Charles Coughlin, who broadcast from its tower in the 1930s.

Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak (BHRO) is a nationally ranked, 1131 bed non-profit, acute care teaching hospital located in Royal Oak, Michigan, providing tertiary care and healthcare services to the Royal Oak region and Metro Detroit. Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is the flagship facility of the Beaumont Health System. The hospital is affiliated with the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, as the primary teaching affiliate. The hospital is an American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with an onsite helipad to transport critically ill patients from within the region.The hospital is ranked on the U.S. News & World Report as the #2 best in Michigan after University of Michigan Hospital. It originally opened in January 1955.

Shrine Catholic Schools is a private, co-educational, Roman Catholic school serving preschool through grade 12. It is located in Royal Oak, Michigan and affiliated with National Shrine of the Little Flower Church. The school consists of Shrine Catholic Grade School on one campus and Shrine Catholic Academy (middle school) and Shrine Catholic High School on another campus. The school was founded as "Little Flower High School," an all-girls school, in the late 1930s. The all-boys school, "Shrine High School", was added later, and the schools were eventually merged.

Huntington Woods is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An inner-ring suburb of Detroit on the Woodward Corridor, Huntington Woods is located roughly 12 miles (19.3 km) northwest of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 6,238.Huntington Woods is situated along the Woodward Corridor (M-1) and is bounded by Ten and Eleven Mile Roads to the north and south and by Woodward and Coolidge Highway to the east and west. The city is widely known as the "City of Homes", as it consists mostly of residences. Rackham Golf Course is located along the southern end of the city. The western portion of the Detroit Zoo is located within the city limits and is a contributor to its tax base.

Royal Oak High School (ROHS) is a public high school located in Royal Oak, Michigan. The current principal is Sharida Lewis. It is a part of Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools.

Clarence M. Kimball High School was a secondary educational facility located in Royal Oak, Michigan in Greater Detroit and had 1,217 students at the time of its consolidation with Dondero High School following the 05/06 school year. It is now Royal Oak High School. The final principal was Michael Greening. It was a part of Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools. The school's mascot was the Knights.

WXYT-FM (97.1 MHz "97.1 The Ticket") is a commercial radio station in Detroit, Michigan, serving Metro Detroit and much of Southeast Michigan. It airs a sports radio format and is owned by Audacy, Inc. Its studios and offices are located in the nearby suburb of Southfield. It has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 15,000 watts. The transmitter site is off Greenfield Road near Interstate 696 (Walter P. Reuther Freeway) on Southfield's eastern side, co-located with the tower for WDIV-TV. In addition to its standard analog transmission, 97.1 The Ticket broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid format; with AM all news sister station WWJ (a CBS News Radio affiliate) on the HD2 sub-channel, and WXYT (a BetQL Network affiliate) on the HD3 sub-channel. It is also available online via Audacy, with live video feeds of its weekday shows available via Twitch from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET (although the Twitch feed instead plays public domain music during commercial breaks and excludes copyrighted material such as press conference clips).

WDIV-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Detroit, Michigan, United States, affiliated with NBC. It serves as the flagship broadcast property of the Graham Media Group subsidiary of Graham Holdings Company. WDIV-TV maintains studio facilities on West Lafayette Boulevard in Detroit, making it the only major television station in the market with offices and studios within the Detroit city limits. Detroit's other television stations are all based in the suburb of Southfield; WDIV's transmitter is, however, located on Greenfield Road in Southfield.

The Rackham Golf Course is a public golf course designed by Donald Ross, located in Huntington Woods, Michigan and adjacent to the Detroit Zoo. The grounds crew at Rackham maintains one 18-hole course.

WKQI (95.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Detroit, Michigan, featuring a top 40 (CHR) format known as "Channel 955", pronounced "nine-five-five". Owned by iHeartMedia, the station serves Metro Detroit and much of Southeast Michigan and southwestern portions of Ontario, including Windsor. The station's studios are located in Farmington Hills, while the transmitter is located in Oak Park, Michigan. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WKQI broadcasts over HD Radio using the in-band on-channel standard, and is available online via iHeartRadio.
