Veľký Kriváň (Polish: Wielki Krywań) is the highest mountain in the Lesser Fatra mountain range in Western Carpathians in Slovakia.

Terchová (Hungarian: Terhely) is a large village and municipality (population 4,073) in the Malá Fatra mountains in the Žilina District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia.

The Malá Fatra National Park (Slovak: Národný park Malá Fatra) is a national park in the northern part of the Malá Fatra mountains called Krivánska Malá Fatra. It has an area of 226.3 km2 (87.37 mi2) and a 232.62 km2 (89.81 mi2) buffer zone. The park was declared in 1988. Between 1967 and 1988 it was a protected landscape area. Šútovský vodopad is a waterfall in Slovakia located in the Malá Fatra mountains, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of the town of Šútovo. The waterfall is situated in Malá Fatra at an elevation of 830 meters, approximately 4 kilometers from the village of Šútovo. It has a height of 38 meters, making it the tallest waterfall in the area. It is fed by the Šútovský stream, which originates from the Mojžišove pramene rock formation about 1 kilometer upstream. The stream is around 2.5 meters wide above the waterfall.

Veľký Rozsutec (1,609.7 m; 5,281.17 ft AMSL) is a mountain situated in the Malá Fatra mountain range in the Žilina Region, Slovakia. The peak is situated in the north part of Malá Fatra called Krivánska Malá Fatra and is part of the Malá Fatra National Park and Rozsutec National Nature Reserve (since 1967). Veľký Rozsutec and the surrounding area are home to many endangered species of plants and animals, some of which are endemic, as well as rare karst terrain.

Malá Fatra (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈmalaː ˈfatra]; also Little Fatra or Lesser Fatra, Polish: Mała Fatra, Hungarian: Kis-Fátra) is a mountain range in the Western Carpathians in the north-west of Central Slovakia. In the geomorphological system, it is a part of the Fatra-Tatra Area.It is situated approximately halfway between the cities of Nitrianske Pravno, Strečno, Martin and Zázrivá. Turčianska kotlina (Turiec Basin) and the Oravská vrchovina mountains are situated to the west of the range, and Žilinská kotlina (Žilina Basin) and the Kysucká vrchovina mountains arw located to the east. Malá Fatra consists of two subdivisions separated by the Váh river near Strečno: Lúčanská Malá Fatra and Krivánska Malá Fatra. The highest peak is Veľký Kriváň at 1,709 m AMSL in Krivánska Malá Fatra. Malá Fatra is basically one large karst feature. It is made up of crystalline rocks and complexes of Mesozoic strongly folded rocks. The main peaks of Lúčanská Malá Fatra are Veľká Lúka (1,475 m), Kľak (1,351 m) and Minčol (1,364). The main peaks of the Krivánska Malá Fatra are Veľký Rozsutec (1,610 m), Malý Rozsutec (1,343 m), Veľký Kriváň (1,709 m) and Malý Kriváň (1,671 m). The 12 km long pass between Krivánska Malá Fatra and Lúčanská Malá Fatra separated by the Váh is called Strečnianska tiesňava (Strečno Pass), located below the ruins of Strečno Castle. The Dierový potok stream created a complex of canyons, waterfalls and cascades in that area. Šútovo Waterfall (Šútovský vodopád ) is the highest waterfall in Malá Fatra and has a vertical drop of 38 m. Popular centres for winter sports are Vrátna dolina and Štefanová. Other tourism centres are the villages of Terchová, where the Slovak national hero Juraj Jánošík was born and Zázrivá, where the traditional Slovak sheep cheese delicacy known as korbáčiky is made. One of the most popular ski areas in Slovakia outside the Tatras is the Martinské hole resort situated between the Veľká lúka Mountain and the town of Martin. Krivánska Malá Fatra is protected by the Malá Fatra National Park. In addition, Malá Fatra includes the following small-scale protection areas: national nature reserves: Chleb, Minčol, Krivé, Šútovská dolina, Sokolec, Suchý, Starý hrad, Prípor, Šíp, Šrámková, Rozsutec, Tiesňavy, Veľká Bránica, Kľačianska Magura nature reserves: Dubovské lúky, Goľove mláky, Hajasová, Hrabinka, Hrádok, Kraľoviansky meander, Močiar, Paráč, Pod Rígľom, Veľká Lučivná natural monuments: Bôrická mláka, Domašínsky meander, Krasniansky luh, Šútovská epigenéza protected site: Hate

Stratenec is a 1,509.3-metre (4,952-foot) high mountain of the Lesser Fatra range in Slovakia. This limestone mountain covered with dwarf-pines is situated in west part of the main crest of Krivanska Mala Fatra mountain range. It is accessible directly on the red marked trail between Maly Krivan and Biele skaly. From the mountain Maly Krivan it is divided by saddleback Priehyb and from Biele Skala by the saddleback Vrata. You can also reach it by the blue marked trail from Krasnany via the valley Kur. The northern rocky part of the hill hides 443 feet (135 m) long Old cave of Stratenec and 207 feet (63 m) long Kukurisova cave. There is also 115 feet (35 m) deep chasm. There is no marked trail to the rocky part and the access is restricted to the tourists. The area of the peak and the northern slopes are part of protected area Suchy. The opposite southeastern slopes of Stratenec lead to the sucanska valley. Stratenec can be reached from that side by the yellow marked trail from Lipovec or by the green trail from Turcianske Klacany via Suchy. It stands 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) north of the village of Sučany.
