Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is a metropolitan park in Central Ohio, owned and operated by Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks. The park is within the Pleasant and Prairie townships, southwest of Columbus. It is the largest park in the Metro Parks system, with 7,103 acres (2,874 ha).The park encompasses lands and creek beds north & south of the confluence of the Big & Little Darby Creeks. Unique features include restored tallgrass prairie areas totalling 2,000 acres (810 ha) that house a group of 10 American bison, a large nature center with exhibits about the exceptional biodiversity of Big Darby Creek, and a Fort Ancient mound. Thirteen miles of the Big Darby Creek and Little Darby Creek flow through the park. Much of the land for the park was donated by the Battelle Memorial Institute. The northern parcel lies just outside the town of West Jefferson (in Madison County). The park follows the Darby Creeks south past the village of Georgesville and continues towards the crossroads of Darbydale. Detached parcels of the park extend along Darby Creek to the village of Harrisburg (into Pickaway County).

The Little Darby Creek is a tributary to the Darby Creek System in central Ohio. The creeks are part of the Scioto River drainage basin. Little Darby Creek runs from an area near the Lafayette-Plain City Road Bridge downstream to the confluence with Big Darby Creek near the Darby Creek Metro Park. The village of Georgesville, Ohio forms the western edge of the Confluence. The Little Darby and Big Darby were listed as a state Scenic River in 1984. The creeks were listed as national Scenic Rivers in 1994.Little Darby Creek for many years appeared to be bigger than Big Darby Creek at their confluence. This was due to a concrete fill dam across the path of the Little Darby Creek just north of the confluence. It was locally known as Oakie's dam. The Franklin County Metro Park System later removed this structure. The Little Darby creek bed has returned to it natural condition and the presence of the dam is now very hard to detect.

Georgesville is an unincorporated community in western Pleasant Township, Franklin County, Ohio, United States. It is located southwest of Columbus, the county seat of Franklin County and the capital and largest city of Ohio.

Lake Darby is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Franklin County, Ohio, United States, located mostly in Prairie Township and partly in Brown Township. It is more commonly known among locals as Darby Estates, which is also the name of the older housing development there, with the newer development called "West Point". As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 4,592, up from 3,727 at the 2000 census.

New Hampton was a village in Jefferson Township, Madison County, Ohio, United States. It is now part of the village of West Jefferson.

Galloway is an unincorporated community west of the city of Columbus in southern Prairie Township, Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The 43119 ZIP Code, however (which carries a Galloway mailing address) covers a significant portion of rural and suburban western Franklin County, as well as parts of western Columbus, and locals might use the name Galloway to refer to any location in the area roughly bounded by I-70, Galloway Rd, Alkire Rd, and Big Darby Creek; such a location is seldom in the community of Galloway proper. The Galloway Post Office is located within the city of Columbus about two miles north of the actual community of Galloway, which lies at the intersection of Galloway Road and Sullivant Avenue.

West Jefferson High School is the only high school in the Jefferson Local School District, located in the village of West Jefferson in Madison County, Ohio. It is a public, college preparatory school. On average, about 369 students attend this high school per year. The school colors are brown and gold, and the mascot is the Roughrider.

West Jefferson is a village in Madison County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,222 at the 2010 census. Located along U.S. Route 40, the village has a fairly close relationship with the surrounding township, which include various out-of-corporation-limit neighborhoods (including Haymarket Road, Olmstead Road, Forrest Lake Estates, Goodson Road/Enchanted Valley, and North and South Road). The village has a "Commerce Park" at its western edge which include Target and Amazon Distribution Centers, a Krazy Glue factory, and Jefferson Industries.

Jefferson Township is one of the fourteen townships of Madison County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 6,935 people in the township, 2,604 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.

Wrightsville is an unincorporated community in Fairfield Township, Madison County, Ohio, United States. It is located at 39°51′40″N 83°14′50″W, at the intersection of Ohio State Route 665 and Georgesville-Wrightsville Road, approximately four miles north of Kiousville. Some national maps mistakenly show Wrightsville in Franklin County.The Wrightsville Post Office was established on January 23, 1888, but was discontinued on January 15, 1901. The mail service is now sent through the Georgesville branch.

Prairie Township is one of the seventeen townships of Franklin County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 16,498. Prairie Township is on the far west side of Franklin County touching the east side of Madison County. Each year Prairie Township Fire Department hosts the Annual Fish Fry and Classic Car Show the last weekend of June. Westland Area Business Association (WABA) holds the Annual Independence Parade on the last Saturday of June in Prairie Township.

Westland High School is a public high school located in Galloway, Ohio. It is one of 4 high schools in the South-Western City Schools District. SWCS is located in the southwestern portion of Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio. Westland High School was opened in 1970.
