SS Arthur M. Huddell is a Liberty ship built in the United States during World War II and is now a museum ship, SS Hellas Liberty, in Greece. She was named after Arthur M. Huddell, an American union leader. Huddell had been president of the Boston Central Labor Union, vice president of the International Engineers’ Union, and president of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). From delivery on 18 December 1943, the ship was operated by an agent for the War Shipping Administration until laid up in September 1945, with a brief operating period in 1947. Between October 1947 and February 1956, the ship was in long-term layup. In 1956, Arthur M. Huddell began operations as a cable transport for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T). The Historic American Engineering Record for the ship notes its significance as an existing Liberty ship example, its role in Operation PLUTO (pipeline-under-the-sea), its later work as a cable transport for the AT&T communications cable installations, and for the installation of the Sound Surveillance System (SOSUS) until 1983. In 2009, Arthur M. Huddell was donated to Greece to serve as the museum ship Hellas Liberty. The fully restored ship is on display in the Port of Piraeus, Athens.

The Kanellopoulos Institute of Chemistry and Agriculture (Greek: Ινστιτούτο Χημείας και Γεωργίας "Ν. Κανελλόπουλος", Katharevousa: Ἰ​νστιτοῦτον Χημείας καὶ Γεωργίας "Ν. Κανελλόπουλος") is a former research institute in Piraeus, Greece, which operated between 1938 and 1984 in affiliation with the Drapetsona-based Greek Company of Chemical Products and Fertilisers (Greek abbrev.: ΑΕΕΧΠΛ, romanized: AEEChPL).The Kanellopoulos Institute was a sui generis institution in Greece. It was the first of its kind to combine high-profile basic research, research with applications in the chemical industry, and dissemination of agrochemical advances to the Greek populace.

Drapetsona (Greek: Δραπετσώνα) is a coastal town, a suburb and a former municipality in the southwestern part of the Piraeus regional unit in the Athens urban area. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Keratsini-Drapetsona, of which it is a municipal unit.

The Archaeological Museum of Piraeus contains mainly sculptures, discovered in Piraeus and in the area of the Attic coast from Bronze Age to Roman times,

Piraeus Prefecture (Greek: Νομός Πειραιά or Νομός Πειραιώς) was one of the prefectures of Greece. Created in 1964 as a separate Prefecture (Νομός) and after the dissolution of the prefecture in 1972 was one of the 4 prefectures (Νομαρχίες) of Attica prefecture, and from 1994, part of the Athens-Piraeus super-prefecture (1994–2011). The capital of the prefecture was Piraeus. As a part of the 2011 Kallikratis government reform, the prefecture was abolished, and its territory was divided into two regional units: Islands and Piraeus.

Freattyda (Greek: Φρεαττύδα) is the name of a residential area in Piraeus, Athens, Greece. It is situated in the southeastern part of the Piraeus, near the Zea harbour. The Hellenic Maritime Museum is situated in Freattyda.

The first attempt to establish the Hellenic Maritime Museum was in the newly established Greek state in 1867. That year the master of the Navy Gerasimos Zochios, founder of the Navy Retirement Fund, suggested that the Fund takes the task of collecting and conserving objects related to the Greek maritime history. For reasons relating to serious historical adventures of the time the idea was not positively received at the time. However, the idea was to be implemented as a private initiative, 82 years later. On April 7, 1949, a group of distinguished citizens of Piraeus together with officers of the Navy and Merchant Marine, sharing a love for the sea and ships, gathered in the office of the then Minister Gerasimos Vassiliadis and signed the memorandum of association under the name "Maritime Museum Society and collection of national relics at sea." It was the birth of the Maritime Museum and the first presidency was taken by the shipowner George Stringos. The museum is located at Freatida, near Zea Harbour, in Piraeus and in its halls are exhibited more than 2,500 objects sorted chronologically and thematically, evoking the maritime history and tradition from prehistoric times to the present day. Its Naval Library is also open to the public during the days and hours of operation and consists of more than 17,000 volumes of books and magazines focusing on the naval history, science and art. In its exterior space sculptures and important outdoor exhibits are located such as the conning tower of the historic submarine "Papanikolis' and anchors of the ships of the time of the Battle of Navarino. The museum exhibits approximately 2500 items related to the maritime history of Greece from prehistoric times to the present day and include many ship models and a number of paintings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A member of: ICOM (International Council of Museums) ICMM (International Congress of Maritime Museums AMMM (Association of Mediterranean Maritime Museums The museum admits visitors from Tuesday to Saturday at 09:00-14:00. It is closed on Sunday, on Monday and on public holidays. Photography in the museum is prohibited.

The Athinais Cultural Center (Greek: Αθηναΐς Πολυχώρος Πολιτισμού) is a "multi-purpose" conference complex in Athens, Greece. It hosts business events, cultural activities, and entertainment. It also contains an art gallery with a permanent exhibition of contemporary Greek art. The building was originally a silk factory, since renovated.

Ionideios (or Ionidios) School of Piraeus (Greek: Ιωνίδειος Σχολή Πειραιά Greek pronunciation: [ioniðios sxoʎ pir̥ea]) is a school in Piraeus, Greece. It was founded in 1847, and it was named after the Greek national benefactor Constantine Ionides (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Ιωνίδης), father of Alexander Constantine Ionides.

The Electric Railways Museum of Piraeus (Greek: Μουσείο Ηλεκτρικών Σιδηροδρόμων) is a railway museum in Piraeus, Athens, Greece. The museum was established in 2005 in the space of the former Post Office in Piraeus railway station. The museum displays a collection of small size items, photographs and documents related to the history of Athens-Piraeus Railway, Hellenic Electric Railways (EIS), Piraeus-Perama light railway, Piraeus Harbour tramway, Electric Transport Company (IEM) and Athens-Piraeus Electric Railways (ISAP). The museum also owns a collection of approximately 2000 small and medium size items and 3000 books, leaflets and other documents, currently in storage.

The Piraeus Municipal Theatre is a neoclassical building built on plans by the architect Ioannis Lazarimos and was opened on 9 April 1895.The theatre has a 600-seat capacity and is located in the centremost place of Piraeus.
