Nepal Engineering Council is an autonomous government body formed on 11 March 1999 under The Nepal Engineering Council Act. The council was established in order to mobilize the engineering profession in a systematic and scientific manner by making it effective, as well as to make provision for, among other matters, the registration of the names of engineers as per their qualifications. The council used to register engineers based on academic certificates until 2022. An amendment bill was registered in the parliament in June 2019 and was passed in August 2022 which makes mandatory to take exams from the council to get license. As of 2022, there are 37 engineering field for which license are issued.

Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) is the umbrella organization of Nepali artists, researchers and art critics, and an arts institution for research and for exhibitions. A museum in Kathmandu, in a neoclassical building from the 1930s, presents collections of both traditional and contemporary paintings and other works. It was formerly part of Nepal Academy. The Nepal Academy of Fine Arts has also published a number of books about art and Nepali artists.

The University of Nepal (UoN) (Nepali: नेपाल विश्वविद्यालय) is a public university established by the University of Nepal Act 2024. According to the university, it plans to operate as a research focused institution with autonomy over its academic and administrative decisions. It became Nepal’s 14th university after presidential certification of the University of Nepal Act 2081 on Ashoj 23. The university's official mission statement says reducing the number of Nepali students studying abroad is one of its objectives. The Human Resource Management (HRM) of Nepal reports that its proposal includes a governance model intended to limit political involvement. In addition, the university's proposal describes plans to establish itself as a institution for education and research with both national and international academic engagement. Additionally, UoN will be run by an independent Board of Trustees who will be responsible for appointing senior leadership positions (such as selecting its own vice-chancellor). The main administrative headquarters of the university will be set outside the Kathmandu Valley.

Gyaneshwor is one of the central neighborhoods in the city of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is named after the ancient temple of Gyaneshwor Mahadev & Bhairavsthan located there. It is a multi-cultural residential area with good facilities. Some major establishments located there are the German embassy to Nepal, USEF, Mega Bank, Kaveri Inn, Valley Petrol Station, AT Burger House, Galaxy Public School, Mahendra Bhawan School etc. The well known International Primary School, closed in 2011, was also located in Gyaneshwor, where multiple generations of Nepalis from all over Kathmandu started their early education. The football field of Sano Gaucharan is located on the northern side of Gyaneshwor. It is one of the best areas to live in Kathmandu.

Galaxy Public is located in Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu, Nepal and educates over 2,500 students. Established in 1986, it offers education across levels of Kindergarten to School Leaving Certificate level, along with 10+2 in Science and Commerce specialization.A common curriculum made up of moral education, English, Nepali, mathematics, science, environmental science, social studies, arts & crafts, and computer studies are taught in all the classes. Pre-school consists of two levels: Prep I and Prep II. The minimum age for admission into Prep I is three years. For Prep II it is four years. Informal education is imparted to students in pre-school. The children are made to do a lot of oral work, indulge in various kinds of activities, play games, do simple practicals, go for excursions, and observe different phenomena. Teachers use several audio-visual aids in order to demonstrate the lessons. The aim of the curriculum at this stage is to make children creative and innovative. To develop good toilet habits, to encourage children to eat healthy foods, and to make them aware of the benefits of good health. The minimum age for admission to the Kindergarten class is 5 years. Formal education starts from this class. Apart from oral work, activities, games, practicals, and excursions children are introduced to subjects like English, Nepali, Maths, Science, Social Studies, and Computer Studies.

Kamal Pokhari is a historic pond in Kathmandu, Nepal. The history of the pond is uncertain possibly dating back to the Licchavi-era and it had been used by the Malla kings. Kamal Pokhari had restored by Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The restoration project has received protests for using concrete which "deteriorates the originality of the traditional pond in the capital city".

Naag Pokhari (Nepali: नाग पोखरी) meaning snake's pond is a historic artificial pond located in the eastern side of the royal palace, Kathmandu. The pond was constructed in the 17th century by Queen Subarna Prabha. The pond is 125 ft long, 65 ft wide and has a depth of about 7 ft. It has a park around it. A tall statue of golden snake is mounted at the center of the pond. The pond is used to celebrate Naga Panchami and has religious significance for the Hindus.

The National Integrated College (NIC) is a private higher secondary institution in Kathmandu, Nepal. The school educates at Grades 11 and 12 level for which it is affiliated with the Higher Secondary Education Board. It also provides bachelor's degree courses for which it is affiliated with the Tribhuvan University.

Gairidhara (Nepali: गैह्री धारा) is a residential area of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. It borders the Narayanhity Palace, Lazimpat and Baluwatar and is just 20 minutes away from what is known as the downtown of Kathmandu, Newroad and Ason. The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal is the official representative of the People's Republic of China to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Hom Bahadur Bagale was a police sub-inspector in Nepal Police serving from 13 February 1984. He had been serving as a technical sub-inspector in the police band. He was accused of stealing gold from his superior. Bagale was detained without being presented to court within 24 hours. He was kept in custody handcuffed and was forced to wear a hood and placed in solitary confinements. He was captured and tortured on 28 Nov 2002, he managed to escape and then he was again taken to Armed Police Battalion on 5 February 2003 and detained until 3 April 2003. He was further detained on 20 March 2006 at the Armed Police Battalion No. 1 until 22 March 2006 and then he was detained and brought to the police facility at Hanumandhoka where he was held till March 28, 2006. He was tortured and ill-treated. His tortures and captivity were ruled illegal by the court. Concerns of his safety was raised by international organizations and the wider public.

Kathmandu, officially Kathmandu Metropolitan City, is the capital and most populous city of Nepal with 845,767 inhabitants living in 105,649 households in 2021 and 2.9 million people in its urban agglomeration. It is located in the Kathmandu Valley, a large valley in the high plateaus in central Nepal, at an altitude of 1,400 metres (4,600 feet). The city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, founded in the 2nd century AD. The valley was historically called the "Nepal Mandala" and has been the home of the Newar people, a cosmopolitan urban civilization in the Himalayan foothills. The city was the royal capital of the Kingdom of Nepal and hosts palaces, mansions and gardens built by the Nepali aristocracy. It has been home to the headquarters of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) since 1985. Today, it is the seat of government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, established in 2008, and is part of Bagmati Province. Kathmandu is and has been for many years the centre of Nepal's history, art, culture, and economy. It has a multi-ethnic population within a Hindu and Buddhist majority. Religious and cultural festivities form a major part of the lives of people residing in Kathmandu. Tourism is an important part of the economy in the city. In 2013, Kathmandu was ranked third among the top ten upcoming travel destinations in the world by TripAdvisor, and ranked first in Asia. The city is considered the gateway to the Nepal Himalayas and is home to several World Heritage Sites: the Durbar Square, Swayambhu Mahachaitya, Bouddha and Pashupatinath. Kathmandu valley is growing at 4 percent per year according to the World Bank in 2010, making it one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in South Asia, and the first region in Nepal to face the unprecedented challenges of rapid urbanization and modernization at a metropolitan scale. It is the largest metropolitan area located in the Himalayas.
