Lalitpur Metropolitan City (Sanskrit: पाटन Pāṭana, Nepal bhasa : 𑐫𑐮‎ Yela, ) is a Metropolitan city and fourth most populous city of Nepal with 299,843 inhabitants living in 49,044 households per 2021 census. It is located in the south-central part of Kathmandu Valley, a large valley in the high plateaus in central Nepal, at an altitude of 1,400 metres (4,600 feet). Lalitpur is also known as Manigal. It is best known for its rich cultural heritage, particularly its tradition of arts and crafts. It has a multi-ethnic population within a Hindu and Buddhist majority. Religious and cultural festivities form a major part of the lives of people residing in Kathmandu. Tourism is an important part of the economy in the city It is city renowned for its festival and feast, fine ancient art, and the making of metallic, wood and stone carved statues. Lalitpur is also the home to Patan Durbar Square which has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Lalitpur District (Nepali: ललितपुर जिल्लाListen , a part of Bagmati Province, is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. The district, with Lalitpur as its district headquarters, covers an area of 396.92 km2 (153.25 sq mi) and has a population (2001) of 337,785. It is one of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, along with Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Its population was 466,784 in the initial 2011 census tabulation. It is surrounded by Makwanpur, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Kavre.

AVM Higher Secondary School is one of the oldest and largest schools in Nepal. It was established in 1966 in Manbhawan, Lalitpur, by educator Satya Narayan Bahadur Shrestha. It has won several awards for its excellent results in national level examinations held by the Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal. In 2016, it celebrated its fifty year golden jubilee.

Nepal Open University (Nepali: नेपाल खुला विश्वविद्यालय) is a distance learning public university in Nepal. It was established in 2016 through an act of Parliament. The degrees awarded by the university are treated as equivalent to degrees awarded by any other Nepali University under the purview of the University Grants Commission.

Patan Hospital is a teaching hospital for the Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Patan Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Nepal. It uses modern equipment and facilities to provide treatment for almost 320,000 outpatients and 20,000 inpatients every year. Patan Hospital staff conduct more than 10,000 operations annually. The hospital has been operating with an annual revenue of around US$3.5 million. It serves people from every district of Nepal, from the remote villages as well as from the Kathmandu valley. Patan Hospital has 320 beds, which has increased to 450, after the completion of its maternity ward building construction.

The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific (UNRCPD) is a regional office of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs located in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is dedicated to supporting member states in the Asia-Pacific region on issues of disarmament, arms control, non-proliferation, and related capacity-building efforts. It assists countries in promoting peace and security by focusing on regional and sub-regional cooperation.

The Central Zoo(Nepali: सदर चिडियाखाना) is a 6-hectare (15-acre) zoo in Jawalakhel, Nepal. It is home to some 870 animals in 109 species, and is operated by the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC). Although it was originally a private zoo, it was opened to the public in 1956. During the Bhoto Jatra festival, celebrated near the zoo, the zoo may see upwards of 34,000 visitors in a single day after they come to see a historical jeweled vest at the culmination of the Rato Machchhindranath Jatra.

The Tusha Hiti, also known as Royal Bath, is a sunken bath used by the Malla royal family in Nepal. It is at the courtyard of Sundari Chowk, Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur. King Siddhinarasimha Malla is credited with building the bath in the 17th century. The wall features idols of Ashta Matrikas, eight Bhariavs and Nagas, and the gilt copper spout features idols of Vishnu and Laxmi residing on Garuda. The Tusha Hiti is shaped like a yoni and can be accessed via its main entrance from the western façade.

Pimbahal Pond (also known as Pimbahaa Pukhoo, and Pim Bahal Pokhari; Nepali: पिम्बहाल पोखरी) is an artificial pond located in Lalitpur, Nepal (historically known as Patan). According to Nepalese folklore, the pond was built by Lakheys, a type of demon. In 1967, the Nepalese government tried to turn the pond into a market, but received local resistance. Pimbahal Pond was destroyed due to the 1934 Nepal–India earthquake and the April 2015 Nepal earthquake. But was rebuilt after those incidents.

The Universal Engineering & Science College (UESC) is a private engineering college located in Chakupat in the Lalitpur District of Nepal. Established in 2000, UESC is affiliated with Pokhara University. The college offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, emphasizing practical and research-based engineering education. Its mission is to contribute to the development of society by producing highly skilled engineers equipped with modern technological knowledge.

Patan Durbar Square(Nepal Bhasa:𑐫𑐮 𑐮𑐵𑐫𑐎𑐹/यल लायकु, Nepali: पाटन दरवार) is situated at the centre of the city of Lalitpur in Nepal. It is one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One of its attractions is the medieval royal palace where the Malla Kings of Lalitpur resided. The Durbar Square is a marvel of Newar architecture. The square floor is tiled with red bricks. There are many temples and statues in the area. The main temples are aligned opposite of the western face of the palace. The entrance of the temples faces east, towards the palace. There is also a bell situated in the alignment beside the main temples. The Square also holds old Newari residential houses. There are other temples and structures in and around Patan Durbar Square built by the Newa People. A center of both Hinduism and Buddhism, Patan Durbar Square has 136 "bahals" (courtyards) and 55 major temples. The square was heavily damaged by the earthquake in April 2015.

Krishna Mandir is a 17th-century Shikhara-style temple built by King Siddhi Narsing Malla. It is located at the Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was damaged by the Nepal earthquake of April 2015, and was later restored in 2018.
