Thaiba

Nagdaha is a lake in the Dhapakhel Village Development Committee (VDC) of Lalitpur District, in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal.Like many other water bodies and physical features of Kathmandu, the Nagdaha is also steeped in legends. According to one, a male serpent resides in Taudaha and the resident serpent of Nagdaha is female. During the rainy season the male serpent, widely spoken of in ancient scriptures and oral history of Kathmandu as a serpent king, makes a journey to the town of Panauti in order to participate in a festival. It is said that he stays with the female serpent of Nagdaha on his way to and back from Panauti. This union of the nagas, mythical half serpent, half human beings, is followed by heavy rain.There is a statue of Nag at the north-western side of the lake. Nagdaha is rich in aquatic wildlife. Many species of native fishes like barbs and snakeheads are abundant. This is also home to several bird species and is a great place for bird-watching. There are more than 50 resident birds, including black kite, black drongo, cattle egret, Oriental magpie robin, common myna, large-billed crow, rose-ringed parakeet, Alexandrine parakeet, common kingfisher, white-breasted kingfisher, red-vented bulbul and owlets. Several migratory species visit the lake in the summer and the winter. Some of the summer visitors are cuckoos, white-breasted waterhen, common moorhen, little grebe and greater painted snipe. Whereas some of the winter visitors are Eurasian coot, ferruginous pochard, northern shoveler, mallard, gadwall and great cormorant. A pair of garganey were spotted by some seniors and young birders on 20 June 2020 and the pair stayed in the lake for about a week. Garganey are rare visitors and that was the first visit after 11 years in Kathmandu valley. Similarly, the lesser whistling duck is also a rare visitor in the valley.

About 8 km south-east from the capital of Kathmandu, Nepal on the way to Godawari, Lalitpur, there is a historically renowned village named Harisiddhi, where the Temple of Harisiddhi is located. The temple is at the height of about 4,400 ft from the sea level, whose latitude is 270˚38' north and longitude is 850˚21' east. About 800m west from the temple, there is a river named Karmanasha (Kodku). The climate at this place is normal i.e. hot in summer and cold in winter. The temple is surrounded by the residential area. There is a pond to the south-east direction of the temple which is believed to be one of the important holy-ponds i.e. Kunda.

Godamchaur is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Godawari Municipality in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3868 in 645 individual households. It has 9 small wards in this village development committee. Saathali (ward 6) is mostly inhabited by Newars.

Subbagaun is a village development committee in Kabhrepalanchok District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3885 in 711 individual households.

Dhapakhel is a town in Lalitpur District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 4591 in 857 individual households. At the eastern part of Dhapakhel the Kantipur Engineering College is located. Nagdaha, GEMS school, ICIMOD, Sumeru Hospital are situated in Dhapakhel.

On 25 September 2011, Buddha Air Flight 103, a Beechcraft 1900D commuter aircraft, crashed near Lalitpur, Nepal, while attempting to land in poor weather at nearby Kathmandu Airport. All 19 passengers and crew on board were killed. The aircraft, operated by Buddha Air, was on a sightseeing flight to Mount Everest.

Siddhipur is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Mahalaxmi Municipality in Bagmati Province of central Nepal. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 6147 (Male: 2888; Female: 3259) living in 1484 individual households. Siddhipur is a typical Newari community (87.49% of total population) where the spoken language is Newari (85.46% spoke Newari). The main occupation of the people living in this region is agriculture. Most of the people fully depend on the agriculture for their living. Siddhipur is also famous for sukul, which is a kind of handmade mat made of hay, a locally available material.

Anant English School is a co-educational private school located in Anant Chowk of Siddhipur, Mahalaxmi municipality, in the district of Lalitpur. It is a secondary school affiliated with NEB Board and PABSON. The school was established in 2048 BS. It has approximately 500 students.

Godawari is a municipality in Lalitpur District in Bagmati Province of Nepal. It was established on 2 December 2014 by merging the former Village development committees Godawari, Badikhel, Bisankhunarayan, Godamchaur and Thaiba of Lalitpur District of Bagmati Zone. The municipality area was again expanded in March 2017 to include in total 12 previous VDCs. The six VDCs added were Devichaur, Dukuchhap, Chhampi, Thecho, Chapagaun, Jharuwarasi and Lele. The centre of this municipality is located at Bajrabarahi.

Thecho is located about 6 km (3.7 mi) south of the main Lalitpur town in Lalitpur district, Godawari Municipality. According to 2011 Nepal census, Thecho has a population of 10,086 living in 2,352 individual households. The offshoot road near the Satdobato segment of the Ring Road leads to Thecho. This roads ultimately leads to Lele and is referred to as Satdobato-Tika Bhairab Road. This road is also called a "Laxmi Prasad Highway" which leads to Hetauda. Thecho has its own unique culture and festivals which include the balkumari jatra,bramayani jatra,nawadurga jatra and sindur jatra locally known as Sinha jatra

Badikhel is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Godawari Municipality in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 2,711 in 461 individual households. Bamboo is one of the major natural product of this village. A local dialect of the Newar language is spoken here. Its native speakers call it Pahari (Pāhāri) or Nagarkote, while to the Newar speakers of neighbouring Patan it is known as Pahibhāe.
