Changunarayan

Changu Narayan is an ancient Hindu temple, located on a high hilltop that is also known as Changu or Dolagiri in Changunarayan Municipality of Bhaktapur District, Nepal. This hill is about 7 miles (or 12 km) east of Kathmandu and a few miles north of Bhaktapur. The Manohara River flows beside the hill. The temple is considered to be one of the oldest temples in Nepal. The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and is held in special reverence by the Hindu people. The temple was surrounded by champak tree forest and a small village known as Changu. A Kashmiri king is said to have given his daughter, Champak, in marriage to the prince of Bhaktapur. The temple is considered to be named after her.

Indrayani is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Shankharapur Municipality in Kathmandu District in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 2,635 and had 467 households in it. As per 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 3,361 and had 717 households in it.

Kageshwori-Manohara is a municipality in Kathmandu District in the Bagmati Province of Nepal that was established on 2 December 2014 by merging the former Village development committees of Aalapot, Bhadrabas, Danchhi, Gagalphedi, Gothatar and Mulpani. The office of the municipality is in Thali Danchhi in Ward No. 5.

Sankhu (Nepal Bhasa: साँखु, alternative name: Sakwa (Nepal Bhasa: 𑐳𑐎𑑂𑐰‎/सक्व)) is the ancient Newar town located in the north-eastern corner of Kathmandu Valley which is about 17 km from the city center of Kathmandu. Sankhu was formerly divided into three Village Development Committee, namely, Pukhulachhi, Suntol and Bajrayogini. Recently the town of Sankhu has been declared as Shankharapur Municipality merging three above-mentioned VDCs and other neighbouring VDCs. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 4333 living in 928 individual households. Sankhu lies between river Salinakhu (also Salinadi) in east and Asakhu in the west. It is believed that the name Sakwa has two parts- Samdesh (Meaning Tibet) and Kvay (Meaning Below), in total it means a town below Tibet.

Bhadrabas is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Kageshwari-Manohara Municipality in Kathmandu District in Province No. 3 of central Nepal, located approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) northeast of Kathmandu. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 2,388 and had 503 houses in it. The oldest high school in the eastern Kathmandu Valley, Adarsh Madhayamik Vidhalaya is located in Bhadrabas. The Nepal Red Cross Society is active in Bhadrabas and it has notable health centre. In 1984, a tobacco smoking World Health Organization questionnaire was given to the inhabitants of Bhadrabas to survey smoking trends in the country.Vertebrate fossil remains have been found northeast of the village.

Danchhi is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Kageshwari-Manohara Municipality in Kathmandu District in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census, it had a population of 11,246 and had 2,593 households in it. Danchhi is now included in Kageswori Manohara Municipality. Danchhi/Thali is bounded by Bagmati and Manohara river. The major places include Thali/थली, Nayapati, Bhadrawas, Hariyalinagar, Dumakhal, and Gajarkot. The major government schools are Shree Sahid Aadarsha Uchha MaVi, Shree Kanti Bhairab MaVi, and Shree Chaulanarayan PraVi. Private schools include Miniland English High School, Mount Everest Secondary School, Pragya Sadan School, Alpine Academy, and Hindu Vidhya Peeth.In recent local election Krishna Hari Thapa was elected as the Mayor of the Municipality. He garnered 8,969 votes. He edged Nepali Congress’ Upendra Karki by 482 vote margin. Likwise, UML Bindu Simkhada was elected to the pose to deputy mayor of the same municipality. She received 9,182 votes. Meanwhile, UML clinched victory in ward number 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9 while Nepali Congress won in ward numbers 2, 4 and 7 in the municipality. Kathmandu valley outer ringroad will pass through this place.

Duwakot (Nepali: दुवाकोट) is a settlement and former Village Development Committee—now part of Changunarayan municipality, located in Bhaktapur district of Bagmati Province in central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census, it had a population of 5,157 with 905 houses in it.

Sundarijal is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Gokarneshwar Municipality in Kathmandu district in Province No. 3 of central Nepal.

Jhaukhel (Nepali: झौखेल) is a town and former village development committee that is now part of Changunarayan Municipality in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. This is one of the oldest places in Bhaktapur. As of 2012, the population was 16,918. Most people in this area are engaged in agriculture. About 80% of the inhabitants are Newar people. The remaining 20% includes the population of Chettri, Brahmin, Magar, Tamang, and many more.

Mulpani is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Kageshwari-Manohara Municipality in Kathmandu District in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. Mulpani was previously known as Bhaimal, meaning "no fear". At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 4,718 living in 843 households. The main occupation of the people living in this village is agriculture. Mulpani is surrounded by Bagmati and Manohara river. Mulpani is famous for the Nepal's biggest International Cricket Ground, known as Mulpani Cricket Stadium, which is under construction. In the recent years, Mulpani has seen much change in its infrastructure and people as well. The main occupation in Mulpani was agriculture but now employment is more diverse.Mulpani has raised its standards of development by youth clubs like Chakhandol Youth Club on the western side and Jhulchowk Youth Unity Club (JYUC), Manohara Mulpani Youth Club, Friends Club®, Nabintam Youth Club® and Manohara Sports Club (MASPOC) on the Eastern side.

Pukhulachhi is a village and former Village Development Committee around the old Newari town of Sankhu that is now part of Shankharapur Municipality in Kathmandu District in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 2,760 living in 430 households.

Kageshwori Manohara Municipality (Kageshwori Nagarpalika, Nepali: कागेश्वरी मनोहरा नगरपालिका) was incorporated on Mangsir 16, 2071 (2nd Dec. 2014) as the decision of the council of ministers of Government of Nepal. It was formed by combining six village development committees: Gothatar, Mulpani, Danchhi, Bhadrabas, Alapot, and Gagalfedi.
